Chapter 3: Portal

From his position, Levi could not get a good glimpse about what was happening outside. Keeping his calm, he went towards the locked door. Putting his hands through the metal bars, he typed a few numbers on the digital lock, then opened the door. Just seeing the guard moving his hand was enough to figure out the code.

It was rather simple dealing with digital locks, and he found them less effective than the traditional ones.

Going towards the window, he also looked outside. For a few moments, he froze in place. Countless dark clouds inundated the whole sky. If it was just this, it wouldn’t be a big deal, however, there was more. Right on top of the city, the clouds started to spin like crazy. A massive amount of lightning quickly formed all around. It was almost like doomsday had arrived.

  “What is happening?”

Going outside, Levi took a better look at the sky. Countless hypothesis ran through his head. Alas, he could not come up with any scientific explanation whatsoever.

‘Could it be…’ His mind drifted to the labs he destroyed. ‘According to my calculations, nothing important should have happened from the explosion of the labs…’

He certainly could have made it worse, but not to such a grand scale. Furthermore, he had no intention of harming innocent people.

“Magnificent!” Levi’s heart started to race. He had so many questions, and was eager to find out the answer to all of them.

At this point, more and more people started to notice that something was wrong. Some started to run away, some took shelter, and a few of them watched the sky with great interest.

After a few more moments of observing, Levi’s excitement was accompanied by fear. ‘If this continues, the city will be wiped out from the face of the earth by tomorrow.’

The speed at which the clouds were spinning was increasing considerably with each passing second.

‘How can I stop this?’ the answer to the question came quickly.

  It was impossible.

No matter from what angle he looked at the situation, he could not figure out a solution. If he had more time, he was confident in finding some sort of answer, but there wasn’t such a thing.

Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

‘Even if I take a car, I won’t make it out…’ Fear of death started to kick in. Levi was experiencing for the first time such powerful emotions. He was almost one hundred percent sure he would die if things continued to evolve at that pace, even for a few more minutes.

‘I don’t want to die yet…’ it was only at such a critical moment he found out that there were still many things he wanted to do.

‘How funny…’ having such strong feelings of wanting to live shortly after he felt like there was nothing else for him to do was rather funny.

‘I guess that only in a critical situation you can find out certain things about yourself.’ Despite that, he didn’t fall into despair.

“Let’s go!” He was adamant in at least trying to do something.

Levi started to run towards a certain place, while his mind started to race for potential solutions. All that became meaningless after just a few seconds. A powerful gust of wind came out of nowhere and literally lifted him into the air, throwing his body towards the skies.

Everything started to spin and twist, and Levi could no longer tell which way was up, and which way was down. Even if he was ten times smarter, escaping from such a predicament was impossible with his current physical abilities.

Eventually, his body was thrown right into the middle of the storm that was brewing.

  Everything became dark.

  .

  .

  .

Levi’s eyelids trembled, and he slowly opened his eyes. ‘What is going on?!’ He had a serious headache, and his senses weren’t working properly. The moment everything seemed to return to normal, he felt a hand on his neck. The grip was firm, and his body was soon lifted into the air like it was weightless.

Now, he could clearly see what was happening.

In front of him was someone that could be best described as a savage. An overly developed physique, and a murderous gaze. This kind of person was currently holding him up into the air like it was nothing.

Levi’s eyes started to absorb every piece of information from his vicinity.

The man wore only a pair of shorts, and a great number of tribal looking tattoos could be seen all over his body. He had long, dense hair that was nonchalantly tied into a ponytail.

Next to him were a few other individuals that appeared to be from the same group. All of them had tattoos, and looked like they were fit enough to participate in a gladiator match right away. The facial characteristics were slightly different, and the amount of muscle varied. Nonetheless, all of them were way above average when it came to body constitution.

As Levi was scanning everything in the vicinity, those people started to talk among themselves. The words that came out from their mouths weren’t similar to anything he heard before.

There was a simple bed, a table with a few chairs, and a huge box. The bed was covered with some kind of fur, and so was the ground. The fur on the ground was from a single piece, and its size was enormous, making it a real challenge to guess from what creature it came.

His current location was a one room wooden house. It was quite spacious, and it had no door, making it possible to see whatever was outside. The moment Levi looked into the distance, the moment his heart started to beat like crazy. His eyes were full of passion and desire to analyze every single thing.

  ‘One mystery after another…’

The corners of his mouth turned upwards, and in the next second he started to laugh like a madman.

At this moment, the once lost passion returned, and it was bigger than ever.
