Chapter 4: Village in the middle of nowhere

His laughter only lasted for a short amount of time. The grip around his neck tightened, making it hard to breath.

‘Shit, at this rate, my neck is going to snap.’

Rage started to boil inside Levi. Right when he wanted to live the most, he was faced with death. Focusing all the power he could muster, Levi kicked the man that was holding him right into the chin. The outcome wasn’t what he expected.

‘Nothing?’ he was rather shocked. While he might have neglected his body, he was still a young adult, and such a kick, directly to a sensible spot, should have at least produced some small results if not knocking the man unconscious.

A wave of laughter followed. This time, it came from the other party. Being in such a situation was rather depressing. Giving up wasn’t an option, after all, his life was on the line. Levi’s body moved almost instinctively, this time, trying to kick the man in the eyes.

This kind of strategy was sure to have some result, no matter how small. Unfortunately, the grip tightened even further, sapping him from any kind of power. Whatever strength he had left was focused on trying to breathe, and free his neck. Nothing else mattered at that moment, except those two things.

Levi’s vision was getting blurry, and his strength was fading away. When everything seemed lost, something happened.

A gust of wind blew in his face, and with it, a new figure arrived. The savage was startled, and wanted to do something. Alas, he felt a punch drilling into his stomach, making him involuntarily fold into two.

For a second, everything became quiet. The silence was interrupted by Levi’s desperate attempts to inhale some oxygen. He was coughing and gasping for air in a very unsightly manner. Thankfully, the sudden intervention of the new arrival allowed him to escape from death’s door.

Widening his eyes, Levi analyzed the situation, despite the fact that he was still coughing like there was no tomorrow.

The new arrival appeared to be from the same type of people. Shockingly, it was a girl. Her physique was in tip-top condition, but nowhere near to the man's she just punched. Her body was very attractive, and resembled that of a model with good genetics.

Based on appearance alone, it was impossible for such a feminine looking girl to have so much strength.

‘What the…?!’ Levi was yet again surprised. At this point, he might as well throw on the window some of the basic knowledge that he knew. Clearly, it didn’t apply here.

The savage said a few words in a very weird, unnatural way. His murderous gaze from before was nowhere to be seen. His words were met with a cold stare. The girl said a few short words, lifted her leg above her head, then smashed it into the head of the savage. The sound produced by the impact was enough to make everyone present shudder.

The girl wore a short skirt made of leather, and a pair of shorts underneath. The skirt had slits on both sides, allowing her to perform moves similar to the one she just did. Her breasts were covered by bandages, and so were her shins.

The other men quickly took their buddy, who, strangely, was still alive, and ran away without as so much looking back.

Now, there were only two people inside the shelter. The girl had long, black hair, and part of her body was also covered in tattoos. It was, however, different from the rest. A dragon image extended from her right arm towards her back, and also towards her breasts. Her left leg had a similar tattoo, albeit, a little smaller.

She looked right into his eyes. One of her eyes was red, and the other yellow, giving her a very mysterious aura.

For a few moments, Levi looked at her with great interest, almost wanting to conduct some experiments right away. Alas, such a thing would not be wise.

“Thank you!” he bowed slightly, expressing gratitude with his body language. Pointing at himself, he said: “Levi!”

The girl ignored him, went towards a chair, and sat down. She was looking at him without saying anything. Apparently, she was in no mood to try to talk.

  ‘I see…’

Massaging his neck, Levi turned his back towards the girl, and walked towards the entrance of the hut. In his line of sight were numerous huts, similar to the one he was currently at.

People were moving back and forth, laughing, and talking among themselves. It wasn’t hard to figure out that he was currently in some kind of primal tribe. The puzzling thing, however, wasn’t this, but something else. Looking further away into the distance, Levi could see enormous mountains spanning as far as his eyes could perceive.

Those weren’t normal mountains. Most of the peaks were high into the clouds, making it hard to guess just how tall they were. The same thing could be said about some trees. The vegetation around the village was also different. Except for the grass, it was the first time seeing those plants, and flowers.
