Chapter 12: Danmachi(4)

The pursuers had stopped oh floor, finally giving Bke a well-deserved break. Seeing that the ceiling has already patched up, Bke stopped in his tracks, assessing the surroundings. 9th floor was the same 8th, featuring identical monsters, but they grew stronger.

Starting from the 10th floor, if Bke remember correctly, the dungeon would grow bigger, with the ceiling being rger. The monsters would grow more ferocious, but that was okay If it meaing a better ce of running away from Ais aeam. As Bke stopped, he realized how weak and exhausted he was. He had lost too much blood.

His vision was getting blurry again, the adrenaline disappearing from his body. Bke raised his left uninjured hand and bit into his wrist, bringing some crity into his eyes. Then he began to act quick before anyone discovered him. He pletely stripped himself of all the clothes, excluding his trousers. Then he opened his bloody bag and took out a water bottle, ing his entire body from the blood.

Bete was a half-wolf, meaning that he probably had a pretty good nose. Bke o hihe man from finding him. He gnced down, seeing a bunch of injuries all over his body, as his stomach ed. There were little cuts all across his body, which Bke decided to ignore as they weren’t too deep.

A good k of his right arm was missing, stolen by that freaking dog, which was the injury that disturbed Bke the most. The thing was, it wasn’t painful. Rather, he didn’t feel anything in his right arm and he couldn’t even put any strength into it. It was limping on the side.

The slice across his chest was als, but it was not that deep. However, he was loosing a lot of blood from that. His head was also spinning and Bke had to throw up two times to get rid of the nausea. He probably had a cussion. All in all, Bke was destroyed from head to toe.

However, he did what he could. He ed the injuries with water and applied bandages across his chest, head and hand. Putting a tighter knot on his shoulder, Bke restricted some of the blood flow into his right hand, as it was still bleeding profusely. Bke guessed that the dog had damaged his nerves, and he didn’t know whether restrig the blood flow into it was going to worsen his dition, but he o stop his severe blood loss.

As Bke patched himself up, he rested against the cave wall, taking some beef jerky, which he began to nibble. Every time his eyesight turned blurry, Bke would sp himself to get awake. Until Bke began to sp himself tinuously, irrelevantly of the pain in his head.

Stupid. He was so freaking dumb. What did he think he was doing when he killed those three adventurers? He should have hid their bodies, he should have do much deeper in the dungeon. He assumed that they would get eaten by monster since he used explosive paper, but they didn’t, and that was his mistake.

Now he was on the brink of death, having to go much deeper into the duhan he wanted, pursued by perhaps the stro familia in this anime. He was stupid. He had made a mistake. And now he was going to pay for it. Bke spped himself a few more times, wanting to inflict as much pain as possible so that he remembers not to make such stupid mistakes.

He had bee tant. He wasn’t strong. In fact, he was still weak, and he couldn’t afford making mistakes or else he would end up being in situations like right now. Bke spped himself one more time, finishing his beef jerky and then stood up.

“I made a mistake, but I ’t ge it now. Now, how do I survive through this shit?” Bke began making his way through the tunnels, searg for arance down. First of all, Bke o get down to 10th floor, as it was much bigger and wider, meaning that he wouldn’t get discovered as easily.

Bke still o kill two adventurers. He was already weak and he doubted that he could kill anyone in this state, uhey are extremely weak. The thing was that Bke doubted anyone who made it this far were going to be weak. Therefore, Bke o make his , which was going to be practically impossible.

Killing anyone from the Ais team would just be suicide. Therefore, his current situation was really annoying to say the least. He had to somehow distract Ais aeam, and give himself enough time to get to the top floor, where he could promptly murder two more people. It was going to be really difficult, but Bke’s mind began rag with thoughts, as he made his way further into the dungeon.

Slowly, he began rec his chakra and he began to feel a little better. His whole body was numb, but together with chakra, some of his senses began to e back. He started walking a little more quickly. Every time he spotted an ant or any other enemy, Bke would hide behind a wall or make himself as quiet as possible, until the monster would pass. What Bke didn’t want to do was wastefully spend his energy on some monsters, knowing that much greater monsters were ing down.

As he walked, Bke strategized against them. Engaging in elee with those monsters was not ideal, and, so far, only Bke’s Glock seemed to work. He mao ie and scare Ais for a sed. If only the bullets would go where he actually aimed, It would be perfect.

Bke theorized that the bullets weren’t going straight because he reading chakra unevenly within the bullets, thus causing it to ge dire based on chakra weight upon release. Silently, Bke pushed some chakra and created a gun in his hand. He stared hard at it, feeling its ess on his hand and then pressed it against his forehead.

Some of his headache dispersed by the ess as he tried to put an even amount of chakra into the bullets. He tinued on, gun put against his head, until eventually he found the stairs and desded further into the dungeon. 10th floor was uhe one before, as it featured high ceiling and mist that obstructed a lot of his vision. The smell of the novel floor peed Bke’s nostrils, remi of nature.

Yet, as he looked around, Bke realized that there were trees and grass around, though they were colour of white, just like his hair. This floor felt ominous and dangerous, and Bke would have much rather not e here. Searg the viity, Bke was delighted not to see any monsters at near viity.

However, that was his mistake. Feeling danger, Bke suddenly ducked, surprised to see a shadow standing behind. These shadow monster were nasty and hard to deal with, but, Bke only had to fight them on 7th floor, so what the fuck was this creature doing here. As it brought down its fangs and Bke dodged sideways, he realized the shadow was much rger thaher one he had seen.

The shadow moved fast, swiping towards Bke. Uo dodge in time, Bke pointed his gun at the approag cw, firing immediately. The shadow cried in paio Bke’s horror, its hand didn’t stop, sending him tumbling onto the white grass. His hair merged with the grass, as he wobbled back to his feet. The injury on his chest began to spurt blood again as his bourned red. Bke’s head inning again, though he tried to maintain his focus on the War Shadow.

Yet, looking down, Bke saw two zombie hands grasping his left leg. From the left came running a sickly looking creature, holding a dagger in its hands. Bke threw the gun to the ground, promptly taking his dagger from his belt and stig it into the hands that were holding him.

He then promptly grabbed the same dagger and threw it towards the approag Imp, whided on its chest, causing it to stop abruptly and fall to the ground. Pig up the gun from the ground, Bke began to search for that shadow, cursing his right hand for not w properly.

“I hate this dungeon more and more every hour.” Bke mumbled, putting chakra into his gun and his chest, which was still bleeding. He trated, trying to make the bullets both equal weight and equal amount of chakra. “trate.” Bke pushed the chakra only towards the trigger, which he ected to the chakra within the bullets.

Opening his eyes, he began searg for the shadow, fortable that his gun would work properly this time. Soon, he spotted the creature hiding behind a white tree. Pretending he doesn’t see the creature, Bke aimed the gun towards it and fired two times. It was loud, but the bullets were so fast that they were invisible. They peed the shadow monster from behind, killing it immediately.

Bke smiled, looking at the gun that release some sort of icy smoke from its tip. For a sed Bke fot that he was on the brink of death, in the middle of deadly mohat were probably waiting in ambush. He revelled on the sensation of success, before it was time to get back to business.

He picked up the two crystal stones from two Imps and theo pick up the War Shadow’s crytal. Bke was delighted to see that the stone was much rger and had a peculiar dark colour. Promptly, he picked it up and threw it along with all the other crystals that he had. It was getting slightly heavy, so Bke decided that he could get 5 more before it would start restrig his movements.

Looking around, Bke climbed uporee where the War Shadow was hiding previously, applying another yer of bandages across his chest. Preserving his energy, Bke chewed on some beef jerky, whilst twirling his gun around his index finger. Now that he actually had a pistol that was w half-properly, Bke’s ces of survival increased by ten-fold.

heless, Bke didn’t want to risk it and go down even further the dungeon, for he feared that the mohere were going to start overwhelming him. Yet, Ais and her group must be desding the stairs this very instant, searg for him. Bke o hide, but he khat Bete had a sensitive smell and Bke was bleeding profusely. How could he survive this?

Bke’s mind raced, as he g the equipment that he had. His chakra reserves restored by quite a lot. Eventually, Bke’s mind came to a clusion, which was followed by a headache. Pressing the cold gun against his forehead, Bke summoned an ice e, feeling weakness overwhelm him along with the depletion of chakra.

Silently, Bke took out the remaining bandages from his bag, putting them on the branch of the tree. Grabbing his remaining dagger, Bke cut off the bandages from all over his body, revealing the severity of his injuries again. As he stared at those bloody bandages, full of his smell, he pressed them against his armpit, properly ing himself.

Then he passed over the bao his e, who was staring back at him with both disgust and shock. It seemed like the e was asking: “Are you really going to force me to do this?”

But Bke ignored whatever question might have surfaced in his e’s mind, stood up and removed his underwear. This time the e almost flipped. It did once Bke threw the trousers onto him, along with a pair of socks. Bke then ed up his injuries with some water, leaving a bit for drinking, and applied the new bandages. He used the st bit to cover his intimate area.

“Put on the underwear and my socks. Take the bandages, cut them in small pieces and throw them around this floor.” Bke said, taking a sip from the water fsk. “Once you are done, linger around the entrao 11th floor for a while and then go in. Don’t engage in battle and try not to die, sounds good?”

Bke’s sounded exhausted, yet it had a sharp edge to it, so the e jumped down from the tree immediately. Bke wasn’t sure whether his smell passed onto his e, so he gave him his underwear in order to make sure. Bke rested his head against the branch of a tree, almost falling asleep momentarily, but he spped himself one more time.

He began to s the area. Despite the mist, Bke could see movement within the viity. Along with the sy imps that Bke had killed before, there were huge green monsters walking around, holding big bats in their hands. They stood at monstrous height of 3 foot. Bke shook his head. hat would be too taxing.

Instead, Bke focused on the Imp that was ying in the ground, probably thinking it was a good hiding spot. The Imp was basically Bke’s size, as Bke tried to form a mental image of its appeara was dark skinned and really skinny. Then, Bke trated on his lesson with Konan.

Along with substitution and e jutsu, Konan also tried to teach Bke transformation jutsu, but he always failed at replig another living being without as. However, Bke didn’t fear being imperfect, for every Imp looked more disfigured than the following one. trating, Bke pressed his palms together. In a matter of a few seds, Bke turned into an Imp.

He ied his face within the edge of the dagger, seeing that his face looked even more crooked than of already dishevelled monster. His body looked okay. Thinking that it was enough, Bke slowly climbed dowree, resting his back against the tree, hiding.

  The pn was simple.

Make this entire floor smell like him, f Bete to fail to locate him, whilst his ake his way down further into the dungeo case sario, they all either decide to retreat o further into the dungeon. Worst case sario, they detect him immediately and Bke ’t do anything about it anymore. He wasn’t in the dition to fight anymore.

It was a gamble, but in life every decision was a gamble, was it not?
