Having Casey in her p gave Sylvie a measure of moral support when she resumed talking. “It appears that Frand the group he was with, called Dryods, had it wrong.” Noting the fused looks creeping over their faces, Sylvie divulged the big secret. “They had discovered that they could remove their darkness and sought to open the portal to another pce…” A fsh vision of the group walking off and ughing, Sylvie held up one of her fingers. “Please, I know how this sounds. Just keep in mind we are legends to the people beyond the doors.” Thankful for the quito the future, Sylvie kept going ohe rest seemed to settle down. “The only thing about that pce is that it was a trap. It’s a nd of perpetual sunlight. The book where they learned how to build it, told them all they needed but they read only what they wao.” She sighed and pinched her nose. “It cost them their unlives.”
“How were the shadewraiths trapped oher side? I am not following, Sylvie.” Nathaniel scratched his head. “I don’t know much about the things anyway, I mean others tell me ter…” He noticed Brienne shaking her head and she briefly ed her hand around one of Nathaniel’s fingers as she kept sing her smartphone. “Since she will tell me the other stuff…” He looked at his girlfriend, “How she knows…that’s aory too, I suppose.” He refocused on Sylvie. “Okay, why did the shadewraiths that are flying around here now go into the portal in the first pce?”
Knowing the answer was slightly plicated, Sylvie did the best she could to expin what she’d seen in her vision. “First, uand that the leader of these things, that White-Wraith…was showing the others how to escape their vampire prison.” It took Casey flig a couple of Sylvie’s pstic bows and softly saying her name before Sylvie smiled and spoke further. “So there were free ones here. You bihat with the Dryods who wao be free of their demon, they created the portal…and it had a song or chime that attracted them.” She held up her finger, “Before you ask, No. I don’t know the range. I saw this all in a vision.”
Kynthia leaned forward in her chair. “All of this is from some ESP nonsense? You are basing this all on your vision?” She frowned and rubbed her . “Let’s assume I believe that ESP is real, you could be wrong.”
Casey, Amber, Jason, Brienne and Kody all said at nearly the same time, “She’s never wrong.”
Once she heard half the group in unison Kynthia sat back, raised her eyebrows to Sylvie and waved her hand, “Sorry. please tinue.”
“Yes, well the chime.” Sylvie dipped her head slightly so Casey could keep pying with the bows, “The vision showed me that the one helped others resist the call. It was Franco who realized something was wrong whehers never came back from the other side.” With a quick kiss to Casey’s soft fingers, Sylvie did circles in the air with her hands, “Frand a few others that were selected to stay behind in case somethi wrong, figured out how to seal the door shut. He used five silver seals and pced them in the shape of the steltion Cassiopeia, and a vial of vampire blood to create the magical barrier.” Her eyes shifted to full moons, “Franco was barely able to get everything in pce, and wheivated the final seal the white-wraith called her brethren and willingly went to the other side.” Anticipating the couple of questions thanks to her third eye, Sylvie shook her head. “No, I don’t know why she would take them all over there, doing the work for the Dryods.”
Still teasing Daniel’s hair like he’d been ordered to, Jaso his broware on the woman in his p and asked his question, “I suppose yoing to tell us how to close this doorway?” Slipping his free hand along the curve of Daniel’s cheeks, Jason trembled lightly then smiled at Danellia. “How did you…” Instantly he felt a small finger grace his lips and Jason blihen shook his head in uanding.
It didn’t take much for Sylvie to notice that the entire group was looking for some sort of reassuran the face of the impending fight between vampire and shadewraith. “That is going to be a little plicated acc to the book.” Sylvie looked at the cartel leader, Frank. “A massive tome o Xenagos’, is the book iion. That’s the text that describes how to make said portal.” Sylvie silently peered down at Casey and giggled when Casey pulled herself up and just kissed Sylvie without a word. “Damn, I love that, Casey.” Sylvie tore herself away from the lovely sunlight gaze of her partner and provided another ao Frank before the man could ask. “A woman named Vasia Kddopili wrote it.” Rolling her eyes and Sylvie raised her hand. “Wait, wait. I’ll tell you just don’t all blurt out at once.”
Adjusting the sound on her mobile device, Brienne grumbled. “I always hate when you do that shit, Sylvie. It’s like you are in our mind.” It was an unusual tremor from Nathahat made Brienne look up. “You alright Nat? Do we o walk around a you settle down? Maybe skate a bit?” When he shook his head, Brienne resumed sing the i page she had open. “Let us ask the questions, Sylvie. Give us a sense of participation.” Brienne squeezed Nathaniel’s hand and finished up, “One of the best things that came out of you leaving was that I got to have my thoughts back without…ugh…just..” Deg to let the matter drop, Brie herself off and leaned her head on Nathaniel’s shoulder.
“Vasia is Amos’s creator and something of a visionary too.” Sylvie looked across the room. “You really wao get into that, or discuss the portal?”
Everyo Casey and Brienne said, “Portal.”
With the ied looks on everyone’s face, Sylvie khat the little outburst from Brienne had been fotten. “Short version, she doesn’t seem to a what she sees. She writes them in books and ‘To Xenagos’ was stolen from her massive library.” Pulling up the hat she’d taken with her CPU tacts, Sylvie described what she’d learned. “We o make a set of bracers with a few different things that will actually break the portal.”
“What are those things, Sylvie?” Jason forced himself to look away from Daniel’s copper eyes, “Who is going to make these things and…” Feeling a touptiness, Jason resumed abs Daniel’s features. “...I guess use them?”
Interrupting the versation, Kody turned his small iPad to the group. “I have the drone in pbsp; I took the time to study what is going on up there.” They swiped their hair from their eyes, “Okay. It appears to be buried in a huge hill of dirt, which has turned into some kind of s.” They poio a few pces on the mound. “I have seen three spots that they are crawling out of.” They looked around, “Crawling, like some spider.” Whehers started moving closer, Kody scratched the back of their ned stood up and took a few steps babsp; “Here. Look for yourself.” They adjusted the little camera to allow the others to see the wider se.
