Chapter 26 Getting Along
Outside the residence Terrance chose, there was a rge sturdy tree stump that he happened to come across in the forest and happily brought back with him.
At the moment, Swablu was nestled in Terrance's palm, quietly allowing Terrance to observe it. To train a Pokémon, understanding is the first step for both Trainers and Breeders. They must have a clear understanding of their Pokémon's future role and growth.
Once Swablu grows up, relying solely on the move "Peck" to conquer the world is not feasible. "Peck" is at best a catalyst for Swablu's development at the moment and a transitional move during the process of enhancing its current strength. It is destined to be phased out for Swablu in future.
Before that, Terrance consulted a lot of information about Swablu. Currently, newly hatched Swablu only knows a few moves it can successfully use.
"Peck," "Growl," and "Feather Dance." Like most newly hatched Pokémon, the repertoire of moves is pathetically limited.
Therefore, for now, Terrance can only begin training with the move "Peck."
Prior to that, Terrance helped Swablu with flight training. As a Pokémon capable of flying, it must quickly become proficient in flying. Although it will become instinctual as Swablu grows, time is of the essence now, so Terrance has no choice but to make it one of the main tasks.
Additionally, physical training is also essential. This training pys a crucial role for the majority of Pokémon and cannot be neglected.
Currently, Swablu has just hatched, and the best form of physical training for it is to continuously fp its wings and fly around, which will greatly aid in its growth.
Furthermore, as for the training of the move "Peck," the rge tree stump that Terrance brought back was for this purpose.
In the beginning, Swablu's fledgling beak could only leave a small white mark on the stump, cking any destructive power.
However, with continued use, the glow emanating from its beak gradually strengthened, giving Terrance hope.
Swablu truly did not disappoint Master Victor, who gave its potential excellent evaluation. After using the simple move "Peck" a dozen or so times, noticeable progress could already be seen. Although it was still far from being able to use it fwlessly, it indirectly indicates that Swablu's rate of improvement is quite good.
After training for a certain period of time, Swablu needs to replenish its nutrition in order to keep up with this rapid pace of progress...
"No need to be anxious. Rex and carefully feel the changes in energy," Terrance reassured Swablu, who looked at him with a wronged expression after failing to successfully use the move "Peck" and crashing into the tree stump.
...
...
Because Swablu had only recently hatched and couldn't endure high-intensity training, Terrance stopped the training after it made some progress.
It was still the first day of Swablu's training, and although time was limited, he shouldn't put too much load on its body.
Apart from training, Terrance would also have heart-to-heart conversations with Swablu.
Lying on the ground, gazing at the blue sky, Swablu was perched on Terrance's body. They stayed like that, peacefully indulging in a fleeting moment of rexation.
As they chatted, Terrance began recounting his own experiences to Swablu.
"... And so, Grandma Arn brought me to the Old Green House."
"... And a year ago, I encountered Beautifly. It started as a Wurmple, much like the little fellow you just battled..."
"....What do you think everyone is doing now?"
"It has been quite a while since I left the Old Green House..."
"But right now, it's not yet time to return. If there's a chance, I will definitely introduce you to everyone at the Old Green House."
Terrance recounted his experiences to Swablu, sharing every detail, with Swablu earnestly listening. Sometimes, Terrance would discuss their future, and no matter how difficult it sounded, Swablu would respond confidently, whether it understood or not.
"Ah, it's getting te. It's time to prepare something to eat."
After chatting for a long time, both of them were still not satisfied and wanted to talk more. However, Terrance's rumbling stomach reminded him that he needed to prepare food.
Terrance felt that the food he cooked was quite good. He wondered if it was the result of his cooking practice in previous life or the experience gained from taking care of the children at the Old Green House or it could also be due to the high-quality ingredients in this world.
After he was done with everything, night was already approaching. It was the third night since Terrance arrived on Mt. Chimney, and this marked the end of their first day together.
After a day of getting to know Swablu, Terrance had a general understanding of its situation. In preparation for tomorrow's special training, Terrance pnned to be even more thorough and meticulous, with more intense tasks than today.
For the initial training, Terrance intended to have Swablu focus on training, while deying actual battles for ter.
Moreover, Terrance also had no intention of rexing. He had some books prepared by Master Victor, which would help him make good use of his spare time.
From now on, Terrance had begun preparing for the Intermediate Breeder exam. The Intermediate Breeder exam was also held once a year, but compared to the Junior Breeder exam, the Intermediate exam did not introduce any new content. Instead, it imposes restrictions or provides further extensions to the existing material for the examinee. In other words, if a newly passed Junior Breeder participated in the Intermediate exam, it wouldn't end in a miserable failure. However, the core of the Intermediate exam was to select the best among the best. If they weren't outstanding, the quota would not be rexed under any circumstances.
With the Intermediate Breeder qualification, Terrance could apply to the League to run a Day Care. The most important requirement for running a Day Care was to possess knowledge at the Intermediate Breeder level or higher.
Of course, there were also some "unofficial" Day Care centers in the community, mostly privately run. Although it didn't affect them from operating, they cked the trust that came with having legal credentials from the League. In terms of reputation, standards, and choice of trust, Day Care centers without legitimate League certification were not considered reliable.
Furthermore, as Trainers increased in number, there were often Day Care centers established for the purpose of defrauding Pokémon, causing severe damage to the reputation of the industry. Therefore, the League was considering raising the threshold for running a Day Care, making it an exclusive work for Breeders.
If Junior Breeder was just a starting point, then Intermediate Breeder has the capital to monetize their knowledge.
"Let's rest." Closing his notebook, Terrance smiled at Swablu, who was still by his side. He could tell that Swablu was tired after a day of training, but it couldn't fall asleep peacefully due to him.
So, Terrance put down his notebook and y down as well.
Hey everyone, please vote and review. Thank you.
Chapter 27 2nd Inherited Move
Mt. Chimney
In the blink of an eye, three days passed since Swablu began targeted training.
It was already Terrance's sixth day and night at Mt. Chimney.
During these few days, Terrance truly experienced the feeling of being a "barbarian." The atmosphere of being isoted from the world for a long time made him feel a bit uncomfortable, despite having Swablu by his side.
After two days of focusing on training Swablu, it had become proficient in using Peck Move. The training for flying had also been effective, and now it no longer flew unstably like when it was newly born.
"The power is sufficient, but it cks agility," Terrance thought to himself as he watched Swablu pecking at the wooden stump.
From the beginning, when Swablu could only leave a faint white mark on the stump, it had progressed to be able to create a small hole. This was undoubtedly a great improvement for Swablu, and Terrance was very satisfied with its progress.
Furthermore, Swablu's control over energy has also improved significantly. With a single Peck move, it can now disperse the energy two to three times for use. Although the power may be retively weaker, Terrance can see the embryonic form of the "Fury Attack" move from it.
He believed that with some more training, Swablu would grasp it even better.
Apart from that, these were not the most significant achievements in these two days. What surprised Terrance the most was that Swablu spontaneously comprehended, or one could say, awakened its second inherited move — Agility.
Without a doubt, this move should also have been inherited from Master Victor's Pidgeot.
One day ago, Swablu accompanied Terrance to gather food. However, they encountered an ambush from a Seedot lying in wait to scare them. Terrance was fine, but Swablu, being a young creature with an immature mindset, was greatly startled by the Seedot. It panicked and started flying erratically. While the initial fright was not a big issue, what surprised Terrance was that during this moment, Swablu actually learned Agility. Its speed dramatically increased. However, due to the inability to control the newfound speed, Swablu lost bance. Fortunately, Terrance caught it in time, and Swablu didn't suffer significant harm.
Swablu had just mastered regur flying, so attempting to control Agility was still very difficult. So Terrance didn't force it and simply added Agility to one of their daily training tasks for now.
Another noteworthy development was that, thanks to the food prepared in advance by Terrance, which consisted of Sparkling Radish Berries, the proud singing ability of the Swablu race has started to develop to some extent. [* TN: Don't know which berry is it, if you have any idea, mention it in the comment section.]
Normally, it would take about a week for a newly born Swablu's throat to mature, but with the knowledge of a Breeder, Terrance significantly shortened this time.
A matured throat meant that Swablu could utilize its own voice to some extent and showcase its species' characteristics.
Building upon Growl, with Terrance's guidance, Swablu had already learned to intensify its voice and perform a weakened version of the "Astonish" move. However, Terrance estimated that Swablu's Astonish Move might only have the same power as Seedot's Astonish.
As for scaring a more matured Pokémon, even if the other was timid, the chances were not high.
In addition to the Astonish move, Terrance was also teaching Swablu "Sing" Move.
Sing: Sing a gentle song that puts the opponent to sleep.
Essentially, the Sing move was not fixed and couldn't be directly comprehended. It required some "talent" from the Pokémon itself or some external "guidance." Currently, the most adept Pokémon known to Terrance in using the Sing move was Jigglypuff.
Jigglypuff's uniqueness lies in its vocal cords, which have the ability to freely change the wavelength of sound. It can sing at the exact wavelength that induces drowsiness in its opponents. Obviously, this is a capability that Swablu does not possess.
Once Swablu evolves into Altaria, its voice will gradually manifest its own distinct traits, such as being "high-pitched," "resilient," and "captivating."
Therefore, if Swablu wants to master the Sing move proficiently, it will undoubtedly require some hard work. However, if the practice time is controlled properly and reaches an appropriate level, it will have a certain effect on refining Swablu's vocal abilities.
Unfortunately, Terrance currently cks Jigglypuff's wavelength spectrum, so he cannot provide much guidance on Swablu's Sing Move. He can only give Swablu advice based on some knowledge and misconceptions he has seen. Terrance pns to figure out this training after leaving Mt. Chimney.
These are basically all the achievements Swablu has made in the past two days. Although it is still weak, it has already made significant progress compared to two days ago.
After two days of basic training, Terrance hesitated on whether he should look for some Pokémon for Swablu to engage in a real battle.
But upon careful consideration, Swablu's repertoire of attack moves is quite pitiful. It has the slightly stronger "Peck" attack, the "Fury Attack" Move, that can be used continuously but with reduced power, and the barely effective "Astonish" Move, along with the highly damaging "Take Down" Move when used in Agility state, which comes with the drawback of self-inflicted damage due to its high speed impact. This makes Terrance doubt the possibility of engaging in actual battles.
One could even say that current Swablu's real combat capability is equivalent to the beginner Pokémon given to new Trainers in each region.
After all, every beginner Pokémon has gone through the standardized breeding and training process of the Pokémon League. From birth, they undergo a one-month adaptation period specifically designed to ensure that new Trainers' beginner Pokémon can be quickly controlled and are ready for battle.
This is something newly born Pokémon do not possess.
.......
......
"Sha~~~sha~~~sha~~~"
Trekking through the grass, Terrance led Swablu into the forest.
Currently, Swablu does not have a move that can have an absolute impact in real battles. This was Swablu's weak point at the moment—its moves are too limited and basic.
But this is normal since the little creature has only been born a few days ago. Everything requires an adaptation process.
Moreover, Swablu has not entered the rapid growth and development phase yet. Some things cannot be forced. It will be easier for Swablu to comprehend certain things once it transitions out of the infancy stage.
Terrance could only figure out a solution for this on his own.
After pondering for a long time, Terrance actually came up with an idea. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the necessary preparations at hand, so he has to take Swablu back to the forest once again.
Chapter 28 Natural Gift
In the forest, there were many wild pnts and berries. Some were edible, while others were not. However, compared to Earth, the crops in this world were much safer.
Terrance was walking in a forest near Mt. Chimney.
Just a moment ago, he and Swablu had an unfortunate encounter with a Nuzleaf. Nuzleaf, compared to Seedot, was more mischievous.
Fortunately, the Nuzleaf's temperament wasn't too bad. After Terrance offered it some food, he managed to send the troublemaker away.
"This is it." Terrance's eyes lit up as he caught the red berry that Swablu pecked. He picked up the red berry and brought it close before sniffing it, confirming its identity with delight.
"Let's continue." Terrance ordered Swablu, and they resumed what they were doing.
Terrance didn't gather too many of the red berries, only about three or four, then they proceeded to explore other areas. Terrance's goal wasn't just the Occa Berry; he needed more useful berries. The more, the better. Terrance hadn't paid much attention to the types of berries in this area before, so he needed to confirm them again.
"Is this the Bitter Berry? Unfortunately, it's not very useful." Terrance shook his head upon encountering another type of berry.
To be honest, in undeveloped wilderness like this, although there were many types of berries in the forest, their distribution was chaotic. It was rare for Terrance to find suitable ones.
After some effort, Terrance managed to gather four Occa Berries, three Passho Berries, three Lum Berries, and two Aguav Berries.
He carefully pced the twelve berries in his backpack, treating them like precious treasures. Satisfied, Terrance returned happily.
Perhaps there was more of what Terrance needed in the forest around Mt. Chimney. However, in this particur area, he had only found these berries. Moreover, he hadn't picked them all, and left some behind. Terrance noted their locations so that he could return for them when needed.
...
...
"The most important part of the Occa Berry is its core, and the pulp is second. The core contains rich fire elements. If you want to learn Fire Type moves, it's a good choice to utilize the core. However, our goal is not to make you learn a Fire Type move but to help you unleash all the energy of this berry core in a one-time explosion."
Terrance expined to Swablu while grinding the core of the Occa Berry.
Terrance's actions were swift. He had come across this knowledge in a book and conducted thorough research. The only thing he cked was practical experience.
With knowledge as his foundation, although it was initially challenging, Terrance's movements gradually became proficient.
Grinding the berry core without damaging its structure required specific assistance and techniques. Terrance also approached it with great care to avoid any unexpected mishaps.
"Natural Gift is a very tricky move," Terrance said.
Swablu stared at him, confused.
Terrance patiently expined the principle of Natural Gift, and Swablu attentively listened. Compared to learning a new move, Natural Gift was undoubtedly a better choice for Swablu at the moment.
The advantage of this move was that once the basic principle was understood, it could be easily used without any issues of proficiency. The core of the move depended entirely on the berry itself. As for its power, although it was closely reted to the strength of the Pokémon, compared to other moves, Natural Gift had retively limited growth potential. However, in retive terms, it had a higher foundation among most moves.
Pokémon attacks using the power derived from berries. The type and power of the move depends on the berries they are carrying.
The type was self-expnatory, representing the nature of the berry. The power partly depends on the berry's age and partly on the Trainer's processing proficiency, referred to as energy utilization rate, along with the specific move that the Pokémon uses as a carrier.
Occa Berry contains a core of Fire-Type energy. After Terrance processes it, Swablu could store the energy and release it all at once when necessary, forming a new move called Natural Gift.
Occa Berry grants a Fire Type move to the user, while the other berries Terrance collected, Passho Berry, Lum Berry, and Aguav Berry, provide effects of Water Type, Flying Type, and Dragon Type, respectively.
Terrance was already satisfied that he could find these berries.
After about half an hour of work, Terrance finished processing the core of the Occa Berry. Now, the core could directly allow Swablu to utilize its energy.
Instead of immediately bringing Swablu to practice after processing one berry, Terrance continued to process the other berries.
The important part of the Occa Berry was its core, while the other berries had their simirities and differences. Based on their principles, Terrance made preparations one by one. With the experience from the first time, his subsequent processing went much smoother.
During this time, Terrance had already sent away Swablu, allowing it to engage in basic training once again.
Time passed quickly, and when Terrance snapped out of his work, Swablu was flying and using Peck to attack the Feather Dance it had itself created.
Cloud-like feathers were scattered in the air, and Swablu appeared to be traversing through a sea of clouds. Finally, the feathers gently descended, shattered by the pecks, and scattered like cotton rain, creating a beautiful sight.
"Let's take a break for now," Terrance smiled.
The training Swablu was undergoing at the moment focused on coordinating its moves, which was also the foundation of Pokémon Contests. From the beginning, Terrance intended to make Swablu pay attention to these aspects as well. Terrance believed that even in Pokémon Contests, there must be a reason for their existence. The coordination and connection between Pokémon's moves py a crucial role in battles. That's why most Pokémon Contests' rules have the final competition in a battle format, to assess whether Pokémon could effectively utilize the dazzling moves in real battles, making them more than just showy dispys.
However, not everyone agreed with this perspective. Most Coordinators pced great emphasis on showcasing Pokémon's moves and overlooked battles. But they have no choice but to comply with the tournament rules.
In fact, not everyone was enthusiastic about Pokémon battles.
The rule in Pokémon Contests that required a battle in the final stage restricted many excellent contestants who loved showcasing Pokémon's fshy moves but disliked battles.
But these have nothing to do with Terrance. While he respects Trainers who are passionate about performances, such as Little Rina who dislikes battles between Pokémon, it doesn't mean that Terrance shares the same sentiment. For Terrance, it doesn't matter which path one chooses. Subjective emotions have minimal influence on him. He does not possess any aversion to battles or such psychological reservations.
After all, Pokémon battles and traditional Trainers were the mainstream in this world.
Perhaps, after a long period of development, there may emerge a significant tournament dedicated solely to performances between Pokémon and Trainers. However, these are not the concerns of Terrance…..
Chapter 29 vs Lotad
After another two days, under Mt. Chimney.
This is Terrance's eighth day and night here.
Yesterday, Swablu completed its basic training and learned the principle of the move Natural Gift.
Currently, Swablu's Peck attack is strong enough to crack wooden stakes. If switched to "Fury Attack" mode, it can perform 3-5 consecutive Peck attacks, each with approximately 40% to 60% of the power of a single Peck attack.
As for Agility, Swablu still struggles to control it, let alone using Take Down in high-speed mode. However, Terrance doesn't expect Swablu to rely on this move due to its small size.
As for Feather Dance, this inherited move is quite decent.
While, even though Swablu had already learned Natural Gift, it still inevitably wasted the energies of two Berries made by Terrance during the initial two attempts.
...
...
"Little one, are you sure you want it to be your opponent?"
In front of Terrance and Swablu was a Lotad, searching for a clean water source.
Terrance hasn't seen this Pokémon nearby before. It probably accidentally wandered into this area. Lotad rarely walks on the ground and usually floats on the surface of ponds and kes. However, if it loses the water source, its leaves wither and it becomes weak and then it immediately starts searching everywhere for a new clean water source, occasionally moving on nd.
If Terrance's guess is correct, this Lotad must be lost.
"Chirp~" Swablu hesitated but confirmed with a cry.
"Okay, I'll go communicate with it." Terrance took out some clean ke water from his backpack, pushed aside the grass, and walked towards the Lotad.
Terrance's method was simple: he promised clean water and offered to help Lotad find a ke in exchange for a battle between it and Swablu. The process was straightforward and smooth. Although initially cautious, Lotad happily agreed after Terrance took out water.
"Are you ready?" Terrance looked up at Swablu, already soaring in the sky, and asked.
At the same time, Lotad regained its vitality and was full of energy due to Terrance's bottle of clear water.
With a gnce, Terrance could tell that both Pokémon were eager to battle.
"It seems you are ready, so let the battle begin." Terrance showed an expression of surprise. He hadn't expected Lotad to be so eager for a fight. It seems Swablu will have an enjoyable battle this time.
After arriving at an open space and making some quick preparations, Terrance positioned the two Pokémon on opposite sides of the battlefield.
"After this stone hits the ground, the battle will begin. Pay attention." Terrance expined to Lotad and pointed to the stone in his hand, making a throwing motion. Once Lotad understood and nodded, Terrance stepped aside and threw the stone into the air.
The stone ascended slowly until it reached a critical point, then quickly fell!
With a "thud!" sound, the stone hit the ground. After hearing the noise, Lotad immediately unched its attack, surrounded by a blue light, and released a group of Bubbles!
The numerous Bubbles floated towards Swablu, but it remained calm. It was no longer the same little one from a few days ago who battled Wurmple.
Watching the Bubbles calmly, this was the first lesson Terrance taught Swablu—to remain calm in times of danger, trust the Trainer, and await their commands.
Swablu executed it perfectly. It didn't actively dodge or attacked the incoming Bubbles. Swablu knew that it was battling as Terrance's Pokémon, not fighting alone. So, it was patiently waiting for Terrance's command!
The three main factors that determine the outcome of a Pokémon battle are the Trainer's command, the Pokémon's strength, and external factors. For now, Terrance ignored the external factors. The command is the Trainer's responsibility, while the Pokémon's strength not only includes its surface power but also encompasses many aspects such as battle awareness, judgment and reaction.
During battles, Trainers may face special circumstances that could affect their decision-making, resulting in deyed commands and other errors. This is when the Pokémon's own judgment of the battle situation comes into py. There are Pokémon that simply wait for the Trainer's command, and there are others that possess their own subjective battle awareness but still follow the Trainer's commands. They approach the battle from both within and outside the situation, understanding the Trainer's intentions in an instant or even beforehand, executing them perfectly, achieving a true synchronization of hearts with the Trainer. In that moment, the strong and weak are determined instantly.
Terrance hopes to train Swablu into a Pokémon that trusts his commands while also possessing rich battle awareness.
This training requires a deep bond and understanding of trust between Trainer and Pokémon. The road ahead is still long, and Terrance is not in a rush to achieve results. Everything must start from scratch.
"Fury Attack!"
The clear and concise command was given, and Swablu immediately understood Terrance's intentions. Its beak emitted a white light, and without flinching in the face of the incoming Bubbles, it began a fierce assault in the direction with the fewest and most loosely packed Bubbles.
"Pop! Pop! Pop!"
Three consecutive Bubbles were pecked apart as Swablu advanced with unwavering momentum towards Lotad.
The light on its beak doesn't dissipate. At this moment, Swablu unched an attack from the sky, aiming to use a powerful peck to deal with Lotad directly. However, Lotad didn't sit idly by and instead unleashed a green light resembling vines, attempting to entangle the incoming Swablu.
Absorb!
The energy vines surrounded by the green light were filled with countless small holes. If Swablu gets bound by them, its energy will continuously be drained by Absorb.
Therefore, Terrance issued the command to retreat.
"Fly back into the air."
Upon hearing this, Swablu hastily canceled its attack and quickly flew back into the air, narrowly evading the Absorb.
However, Lotad's actions didn't stop. From the way Lotad smoothly transitioned between its moves, Terrance realized that the Lotad, unlike Swablu, has at least some battle experience.
"Pu~"
With even greater force than before, Lotad blew out a multitude of bubbles, all converging towards Swablu in a remarkably organized manner. It was Bubble Beam, an advanced move that could be seen as the pinnacle of Lotad's mastery over Bubble. Finding an opportunity, Lotad executed this move with great finesse.
"Can't help it, use Agility to dodge," Terrance sighed and shook his head. Given Swablu's current capabilities, its options for evading this powerful move were limited. The undeveloped Agility unexpectedly became the most practical choice.
Compared to a conventional dodge, Swablu's movements in Agility state were quite nimble. With a "whoosh," it leapt past the barrage of bubbles. Swablu was somewhat fortunate this time. Although it hasn't fully mastered controlling the high-speed state, it at least didn't collide with any obstacles. However, it came to a stop with a lingering sense of fear.
Chapter 30 Seviper
"Counterattack! Astonish!"
Swablu soared with a sharp Growl, causing Lotad to raise its body and slightly take a step back, revealing an uncomfortable expression.
However, it was apparent that Astonish Move's effectiveness was not significant. Lotad was clearly overcoming the fear with strong determination. The fear only sted for an instant as Swablu also had to cancel the move due to the strain on its throat.
"Now, seize this opportunity, Natural Gift!"
With a buzzing sound, a silver ripple emerged from the sharp Growl, creating silver ripples that transformed into a silver bde flying towards Lotad. This was Swablu's Flying-type Natural Gift, a special result brought by Terrance's processed Lum Berry. Swablu used Growl as the medium, releasing this move in the form of sound waves.
The swift surge of silver light, unleashed abruptly from Swablu's mouth, startled Lotad. Faced with the imminent threat, Lotad didn't show weakness and tapped into the surrounding power of nature. Glimmering green light instantly condensed, forming a small green orb which hurtled towards Swablu.
Harnessing the power of nature, this technique was akin to Natural Gift, albeit even more simple, swift, and efficient. It was a pity that Swablu couldn't learn this move.
The battle was taking pce in an area surrounded by lush grass and abundant trees. In some spots, dense patches of vegetation grew. In such an environment, Lotad effortlessly tapped into the energy of the pnts and foliage. Though retively weak, it could indeed cause damage.
The collision between the small green orb and the silver bde resulted in a faint explosive sound, accompanied by a recoil force that sent both little creatures flying.
Swablu, caught in the incoming airflow, lost its stability and was blown into the air, looking quite disheveled.
Lotad also wasn't as lucky. Since it had used the move te, most of the energy unleashed by the collision exploded near Lotad, and the recoil force pushed the small Lotad away.
Seeing this scene, Terrance was ready with a Potion. The battle had reached this point, and it was time for him to intervene and help the Pokémon overcome the aftermath of the fight.
"Swablu, Lotad, are you okay?" Terrance hurriedly approached and checked on the two Pokémon. Fortunately, they didn't sustain significant injuries, especially Swablu, who wasn't born too long ago and had a delicate body that couldn't afford to be injured easily.
Fortunately, the battle ended in a timely manner. The strength of the two Pokémon was not formidable, and the aftermath of the battle didn't cause much harm. Aside from excessive exhaustion and minor scratches, there were no serious injuries. After Terrance attended to them, the two little Pokémon quickly became full of energy.
"How do you feel about this battle?" Swablu nded on Terrance's head. Hearing his question, it seemed unsure on how to answer, as if it was dissatisfied with its performance.
"Haha... Just keep trying your best. Let's thank Lotad first." Terrance smiled and gently stroked Swablu. He then expressed his gratitude to Lotad and began fulfilling his promise to find a water source with it.
Terrance knew of three nearby kes that were suitable for Lotad to temporarily stay. They chose the closest one, which wasn't far away. After walking for a short while, they arrived near the ke. Once they crossed the grassy thicket in front of them, they would be able to see the ke.
However, at that moment, Terrance's peripheral vision caught a glimpse of a fsh of red light, causing his heart to skip a beat as he inwardly excimed, "Oh no!"
He quickly called out to Lotad and came to a halt. However, just as Terrance stopped, he saw a figure emerging from the opposite bushes, staring at them with an unfriendly gaze.
"...Seviper!"
A startled excmation escaped Terrance's lips as he silently cursed his unfortunate luck. He knew that encountering a Seviper was not a good situation, as they were often highly aggressive and posed a strong threat.
"Run!" Terrance shouted directly at Swablu and Lotad, who were still stunned.
And at that moment, the two Pokémon also snapped out of it. They gnced at Seviper, who was brandishing its sharp tail and approaching them with malicious intent. Without hesitation, they immediately turned around and ran.
Meanwhile, Lotad also tried to stop Seviper by unching a Bubble Beam.
Swablu, upon seeing Lotad's action, also wanted to help by using its sharp Growl to intimidate Seviper.
However, their efforts to resist didn't stir even the slightest reaction in Seviper's heart...
With a mere swing of its poisonous tail, the Bubble Beam move was easily dispersed, having no effect whatsoever.
As for "Astonish," it didn't manage to elicit even the slightest reaction from Seviper, who remained completely unfazed.
"Thud!"
Just as Seviper was mocking the two Pokémon, a stone forcefully hit its head, momentarily stunning it.
"Quick, run! Don't provoke it..." Dusting off his hands, Terrance shouted, cking any awareness of what he had just done.
There was likely a significant disparity in their levels…..
The two Pokémon and Terrance hastily fled. While scattering snake repelling powder along the way, Terrance couldn't help but wear a wry smile.
Seviper's sharp tail, dripping with poisonous venom, made Terrance abandon the idea of engaging in a battle against it by just relying on both Pokémon and his human intellect.
Terrance didn't want to risk any contact with Seviper's venom in the wilderness, not even a tiny bit. Therefore, running away was the best choice for now.
"Perhaps I should prepare some traps for situations like this?" Terrance contempted while running.
Although Seviper's strength was undoubtedly much greater than Swablu's, if a rge pit was dug to make it fall into it, followed by bombarding it with rocks and Swablu's Natural Gift, maybe they could deal with it?
As he thought about how to deal with Seviper, Terrance suddenly recalled scenes from the anime he had watched in his past life.
To be honest, for Terrance, a transmigrator, the anime "Pokémon" was just something he watched casually once during his childhood. It was a nostalgic memory from his childhood, and he never delved deeply into it. He only remembered a few important characters, forgetting or ignoring the rest. As for the plot, his recollection was limited to a few iconic scenes and some particurly memorable moments.
Fws exist in anime.
After experiencing the real world and blending into it, Terrance eventually chose not to believe those illogical elements that were exaggerated for the sake of entertainment in the anime. Instead, he treated this world as an unfamiliar pce and learned bit by bit. In fact, through his own exploration, Terrance discovered many things that previously couldn't be expined in the anime.
Only through deeper understanding did Terrance realize that this world was not just a small story revolving around the original work.
Everyone had their own way of life, their own dreams. The stories told in the anime were too monotonous for a real world.
"I hope it didn't catch up with us."
Gasping for breath, Terrance and the two Pokémon stopped running.
Indeed, the snake repelling powder prepared in advance worked. It seemed that the unpleasant odor was too much for Seviper to bear, compelling it to retreat.
"Chirp~" Swablu let out a dissatisfied chirp, feeling a bit down.
"Don't worry, you will get stronger too. It won't even take a month before you can defeat it." Terrance comforted the mencholic little fellow and smiled helplessly.
Lotad also chimed in, joining him in comforting Swablu. To Lotad, escaping wasn't a sign of fear but rather avoiding a meaningless battle. Swablu had just hatched and didn't possess the same experience of surviving in the wild as Lotad did.
To prevent another encounter with Seviper, Terrance applied a bit of snake repelling powder to his clothes. Then, leading Lotad, he changed direction to search for another ke. And so, the sound of rustling through the forest's thickets echoed once again.
