It was Friday afternoon as Collin and his friends ate lunch. He had on bck pid shorts, a white polo shirt, Converse sneakers, and a purple bzer with his school crest. They just ordered food from the several food trucks parked infront of their Academy. Collin had 4 fish tacos with everything on it and a blue PoweAce from the cafeteria which is a sports drink.
"How's your siblings?" asked Lucan.
"Good," Collin replied as he gave someone a high-five. "I'm gonna see them tomorrow with Rafhael. By the way, thanks for the get well cards and flowers."
"Of course," Grace sipped her boba tea. "Also, break a leg tonight."
Suddenly, a pop-up window appeared. [ Objective: Hold a door open three different times to earn 10 training points ]
2 hours ter, Collin sat in a fancy lectorium with a couple royal guards. He wore a hoodie, khaki pants, and Nike sneakers. A deer wandered around the room and that deer was Otto. They sat at a roundtable with intricate cavings on the Ebony wood. In general, the whole room had a Renaissance aesthetic as Collin listened.
Laying in the middle of the table was an open book as it read out loud and showed them holographic illustrations. So far, he learned about politics, magical objects, Xenovia holidays, wild mythical animals, and the responsibilities of a Maverick.
"Since you're the Maverick of my kingdom you're automatically the 5th ambassador of the Nightingale Council," Casper expined. "You job is to solve problems in the mortal community and the supernatural community because they can sometimes convergence. I'll give you a mission scroll, but if you can't be there please let my sister know. Any questions?"
Collin raised his hand as Otto snuggled next to him. "Last month, I saw this ordinary shop morph into a different shop. Can you expin that to me?"
"What you witnessed was a magical pop-up shop," Helena's older brother answered with a yawn. "Some are temporary while others are permanent."
"Okay, when am I gonna meet the other Mavericks?" he continued.
"Soon," Casper scratched his blue hair. "We should be getting an invitation."
"One more thing," Collin said. "How old are you?"
Helena's brother crossed his arms. "I'm 25. Pure bloods like myself age every decade, so I've been the same age for 5 years."
There was a knock at the door.
"Enter!" the king commanded.
Bethany and a butler strolled into the room with a trolley. "The cake and boba teas is ready, your highness."
Later that night, Collin and his team faced Mazer Bloom Highschool. Tonight was the homecoming game and both his parents were sitting in the bleachers as the timeout ended. What they were doing was the double wing as Collin got into formation. Some of the pyers on the other team switched positions.
"Blue 80, blue 80, hut, hut, hike!" he shouted and snapped the football. The ball soared through the sky as everybody scrambled, luckily, his teammate caught it and then was tackled.
After the whistle everybody got into formation. This time Collin did a 2-5 defense as the other team's QB threw the ball and he knew it was a shotgun. He sprinted and juked the other pyers as the halfback on the other team caught the football. Thanks to Collin's enhanced speed and agility he was able to catch up and tackle the halfback to the ground. On the scoreboard their rivals were ahead by 2 points as the whistle blew.
"Topher Gibbs Academy gets a field goal," signaled the announcer. "Nice hustle from the QB, number 0 is a force of nature!"
A few seconds ter, Collin backed up and ran forward to punt the football. It spun in the air like a meteor and flew through the field goal. The crowd and cheerleaders cheered as their dragon mascot did a backflip.
"Good, the kick is good!" the announcer hollered with enthusiasm. "Another win for the fearsome dragons!"
