Luna walked through the forest, but it felt like she was making no progress. And she didn't even know if there was progress to be made. She could go back and ask other cats for help, but she didn't want to. She wanted to be the first cat to master magic, she would never life it down if meowsala the cat mastered magic first. Their rivalry has been going on for years, and she wouldn't risk losing to Meowsala.
She still remembered when two life's ago meowsala stole her fish, since then their feud has been going on. It was an extremely tasty looking fish, the kind of tuna cats only seen in legends. Its smell transcended the smell of normal tuna, a tuna worthy of having cats fight wars over it.
But she never got to taste it, because right when she was about to take her first bite meowsala snatched it. It's an unforgivable crime, Luna tried everything to get revenge, but everytime she had a small success Meowsala would strike back even harder.
Now both of them are leaders of the illuminati and their positions are fairly even. The only way to gain an advantage is to learn magic, and she couldn't risk that meowsala's cat spies steal important information from this world. Shaking off the thoughts about the past Luna started thinking about what to do.
She already found the magic energy now known as catna. But she wasn't sure what to do with it. She decided to try various things over the next few days while exploring the forest. In human shows she saw that some mages learn through meditation. Human shows after lots of cat studies have been proven to not accurately represent reality, but it's still worth a try.
Some human shows have been proven to be accurate after all. She would try this meditation thing over the next few days, maybe she would feel something, if not it's not like she really had any better options. With this in mind she hid in a small hole in the ground and started meditating.

“meeeeeoooooowwwwwmmm”, she heard humans chant this when meditating, she assumed the sound was important so she replicated it when meditating. “meeeeeooooowmmm” she continued like this hoping nothing would hear her. Slowly she felt like she was relaxing, her mind connecting to the catna around her.
She could feel boundless vitality, it was overwhelming her. The energy was so vast that she felt like it would be enough to create life on a billion planets. She was slowly getting overwhelmed by this vast amount of energy and had to stop the meditation, otherwise she felt like she would get obliterated.
She was shocked, this was just the catna in her surroundings, this forest alone was housing this much energy. There was no way a planet like this could form naturally, it was like someone compressed the energy of tens of billions of planets into one singular planet. And it made her scared about what she might meet on this planet.
The wolves are likely the smallest threat, it wouldn't surprise her anymore if she met a dragon. Humans may call dragons fake, and don't believe in them, but Luna and catkind now that they used to exist on earth. Before the big freezing dragons used to exist together with the giant lizards, but the divine cat accidentally struck the earth with one of its paws when chasing a giant cosmic string ball..
This caused an extinction level event on earth. But it was also a blessing in disguise cause the divine cat lost a hair when that happened, this hair is the origin of all cats on earth.
Luna was worried, cats weren't really the bawling type. Cats dominated the world through intelligence and because humans did half the work for them. Of course having 9 lives also helped, every time a cat died it would get reincarnated with all their memories intact.
That guaranteed that cats lived for very long times, and are among the wisest animals, at least that's what's taught in cat school. But fighting wise cats are fearsome, but not dragon level fearsome. At least Luna had no idea how to deal with a fire breathing dragon that in history books is described as being strong enough to fly while carrying a T-Rex in their jaw.
She thought about it and decided her only way to survive that doesn't involve giving up is by learning magic. Her first meditation was scary but technically it was a success. She now only had to learn how to only connect to a small amount of catna at once.
