Cut to the time before the Nagumo household in Kuromueina’s castle finished with their training.
In the Western region of the Demon Realm, lies a humongous city with a big coliseum in the middle of it. Inside such a coliseum, there was a fight going on.
Cheers coming out from the onlooker at the coliseum, spectators showing excitement as the fight goes on. In the middle of it, stand 2 figures looking at each other. The area inside the coliseum is in tatters as the result of these figures fighting, the air crackles with tension from the spectators and the fighters.
One of them is tattered with bruises and dust, barely standing as she struggles to even stay conscious. While the other was completely speckless and calm, a sign that she was completely dominating the whole match.
“Kuh… To think you’re still holding back when we fought at Lilia-san’s home, what a monster.” (Shia)
The one who’s on the verge of unconsciousness is Shia, who is completely exhausted from fighting for several weeks straight inside a Large Scale Barrier. While her body almost gave up, her eyes still sharply gre towards the figure in front of her while gripping her hammer’s handle tightly.
It might not seem like a long time compared to Hajime and the others in Kuromueina’s castle. But Megiddo, the one who’s standing tall without any sort of injuries, did not heal her or even let her rest. They both fight without any sort of rest or even a pause until this moment.
“What’s wrong, little rabbit? Is that all you got?” (Megiddo)
Megiddo sneered at Shia as she was beginning to get bored, feeling as if she’s just finished warming up for her fight with Shia.
Her aura was intimidating and imposing, full of wildness and majesty. The temperature around her causes the ground to melt into va, truly the very image of the beast of destruction.
Desperately and annoyed by Megiddo’s taunt, Shia forces herself to stand on her two feet without her hammer’s support, her endeavor causing the spectators to get excitedly cry out her new title towards her.
“LITTLE RABBIT! LITTLE RABBIT! LITTLE RABBIT! LITTLE RABBIT!” (Spectators)
“Gunununu, I’m definitely gonna change my title when I’m still here.” (Shia)
Shia annoyingly heard the onlooker give her the title “Little Rabbit”, and begrudgingly swear to change them while she’s still here.
“Now that’s more like it.” (Megiddo)
Megiddo slyly smirked as she saw Shia forcefully hold on to her sanity and consciousness. The tension around her is rising even further than before, proof that Megiddo is getting excited.
However, Shia was getting more tired than before and dropped on her knees.
“Although, I am a little bit curious.” (Megiddo)
Suddenly Megiddo dropped her tension and engaged in a small talk with Shia who was confused with the sudden change in her mood.
“What drives you to become stronger? What drives you to challenge me, over and over again, despite knowing that you will lose all of your fight? What drives you to reach towards the sky, and wish to fly over it and reach the stars?” (Megiddo)
“...” (Shia)
Shia was taken aback by Megiddo's sudden philosophical question, so much so that she almost forgot just how exhausted she was, on the brink of colpsing into unconsciousness at any moment.
However, she felt like she needed to answer her question, no matter the cost.
“....What’s drives me to this point, you say?” (Shia)
Slowly, but surely, she stands up, wobbling like a newborn baby deer. She coughs a bit from out of breath, yet she continues her answer.
“First of all… my tribe was persecuted, and all because of me being different. I wanted to become strong enough to protect them.” (Shia)
She firmly grabbed her hammer, her pale blue magic aura sparkled her whole body. She lifted her tired body, forcing it to its very limit.
“Second of all, my new family who accepted me, told me to be proud of myself and became my beacon through harsh times.” (Shia)
Finally, as she stood tall, with her hammer scking on her shoulder, her rabbit ears perked up energetically, she looked at Megiddo with a fiery passionate gaze, confident expressions and fearless smile as if her tiredness was a lie.
“And third of all! Hajime is my everything! I will follow him, even if I have to fight multiple Gods at once or follow him to the deepest pit of hell just to be by his side!” (Shia)
Shia procims this as loud as possibly, her voice resonated throughout the coliseum and reached the spectators.
The spectators and Megiddo, they all were silent as they listened to Shia’s story.
A breath of a moment ter.
“Fufufu…” (Megiddo)
Megiddo left a chuckle, not to mock Shia’s drives, but something else entirely.
“HAHAHAHAHAHA! NOW THAT’S MORE LIKE IT! THAT PASSIONATE GAZE! THAT DREAM! THAT DESIRES!!! IT EXCITES ME EVEN MORE!!!” (Megiddo)
As Megiddo gets more excited, then tension on the spectator’s lookout also rises to abnormal degree. The echo of their cheers are enough to shake the whole coliseum with excitement.
“Good, very good, then you don’t mind if I take it up another notch, what do you think?” (Megiddo)
“Obviously! The whole match beforehand was just a warmup, now it’s time for the REAL MATCH!!!” (Shia)
“HAHAHA, BRING IT ON LITTLE RABBIT!” (Megiddo)
OOOOOOOHHHHHH!!! The spectators were getting even more excited, throwing out exhirating noises as they all anticipated the best fight of their lives. Both side’s tension cracked up to abnormal degrees, excitement rose up and completely overwhelmed the coliseum.
…Although if any of the returnees watched their fight, they would retort by saying That’s just a warmup!? Or something simir.
Unfortunately… There's no one but battle maniacs gathered here in this coliseum.
“Many had challenged me, some for fame, some for revenge, some for the thrill of it. But like all of them, I welcome ALL THOSE WHO OPPOSE ME WITH PASSIONATE AMBITIONS AND DESIRE!” (Megiddo)
The air, the ground, the sky, they all shook as Megiddo beats her heart, as if they retreats themselves.
For the King of Destruction, had descended.
“NOW PROVE IT TO ME, LITTLE RABBIT! YOUR AMBITION! YOUR DESIRE! YOUR PASSION! PROVE IT TO ME THAT THEY WILL OVERCOME ME! ORAAAAAAAAA!!!” (Megiddo)
“YOU DON’T HAVE TO SAY IT TWICE! I WILL NOT LOSE AGAIN! SHAORAAAAAAAAA!!!” (Shia)
Both figures cshed again for the umpteenth time, the ground shattered, the air shooked, the sky split, fire and va engulfing the coliseum. It was as if Hell itself manifested into the very earth they stepped on.
Yet… all of the beings here are cheering and celebrating with smiles on their faces.

“UUUUUUUUGH! I LOST AGAAAAAIIIIIN!!!” (Shia)
Inside a quiet dining room, after a bout in her training, Shia smmed her fist at the table irritatingly. As she was saying, Shia lost to Megiddo again, which made her even more frustrated.
“There there, Shia-chan, you’re already done amazingly. In fact, you’re already on the level of the Executives you know~, Megiddo-sama rarely went into that form immediately in a fight you know~” (Ozma)
“Uuuugh, Ozma-san….” (Shia)
Sitting on a chair in front of Shia, a middle aged person with a bit of rumpled hair is Ozma, one of the executives in Megiddo’s camp. He’s sitting in front of Shia while rexedly drinking coffee out of his cup while trying to cheer up the downcasted Shia.
Shia got to know the five generals after she arrived at the city that was ruled by Megiddo, and became fast friends with all of them. Especially Agni which Shia considered her as her second big sister after Yue.
“Besides, this is the first time I’ve seen her this excited in the past few centuries, that fact remains that you did well enough.” (Ozma)
“Uuuugh, I still want to beat her desu…” (Shia)
“Well, maybe if you try it again for over a couple thousand years, you might stand on equal ground with Megiddo-sama.” (Ozma)
“Ueegh, I don’t have that kind of time.” (Shia)
“Well, cheer up~, you want coffee? This is uncle’s favorite blend.” (Ozma)
“Urp, I don’t like coffee, thanks though…” (Shia)
As Ozma, still trying to lift the droopy eared Shia’s mood, suddenly the door burst open with Agni and Epsilon alongside some of the War King’s subordinates behind them. They each bought alcohol for consumption and immediately, the dining room became something akin to a rowdy tavern.
“Ooh! If it isn’t Shia! You did a fantastic job fighting against Megiddo-sama!” (Agni)
“Agni-saaaaaan, ueeeeeeghh…” (Shia)
“There there~” (Agni)
“She’s like a big baby.” (Epsilon)
Shia sloppily hugged Agni on her waist while Agni accepted her embrace and patted Shia’s droopy rabbit ears gently while muttering soft words like a mother comforting her crying child.
“Uuuuuu, I really tried my best…” (Shia)
“Yes yes~ I saw that, you really tried your best huh~?” (Agni)
“Uuuu, I really, really tried my best, and that b*stard didn’t even flinch when I hit her right on her face! And then! And then! Not only is she dummy strong and fast! She also has endless stamina! I can’t believe I fought her for several weeks, WEEKS, and she didn’t even break a sweat!! Not only that! Even after I dropped to the ground and fainted, she still continued her fights against her subordinates after she fought me!” (Shia)
“Well~ Megiddo-sama is strong after all~” (Agni)
“Uuuuu, are you on my side or Megiddo-san’s side Agni-san desu!?” (Shia)
“Well~, she is my superior so of course I’m on her side~” (Agni)
“Guhh…” (Shia)
Shia groaned in defeat knowing while Agni is comforting her, she’s ultimately Megiddo’s subordinates and so, her boss. Therefore, she's always on Megiddo's side.
“Look, I get it, you want to beat Megiddo-sama after your first loss, and you know what? So was I, and all of us under Megiddo-sama’s care really. And you know what? Megiddo-sama supports that notion of beating her, this is why she’s very enthusiastic about you, you know?” (Agni)
“Sniff… really?” (Shia)
“Of course~, I mean, it’s actually been a while since we saw Megiddo-sama using her true form against anybody else except for Ozma, isn’t that right?” (Agni)
“W-Well~, it’s probably because this uncle has been her subordinate the longest so maybe it’s for nostalgic reasons.” (Ozma)
“You can’t lie to me Ozma-san, I know you’re basically the second strongest person in this town, or rather, how the hell can you even corner Megiddo-san that much desu!? I seriously cked training…” (Shia)
Ozma nervously ughed at Shia’s remark. After Shia fainted, she then immediately tried to join back but just when she arrived, Megiddo was still fighting with his subordinates alongside the executives in her beast form.
What comes next is every single person got knocked out simultaneously with the executives still standing. While the executives hold on for quite a long time, eventually they all fall except for Ozma.
What Shia cannot comprehend is that Ozma was strong enough to cornered Megiddo multiple times in her true form when most of her subordinates and executives didn’t even make her break a sweat.
The match ended with Ozma calling it for today, both Ozma and Megiddo were in tatters but as usual, Megiddo just ughed it off and left the coliseum.
Of course Megiddo was still holding back a little, but she clearly exerted more power against Ozma than Shia, that’s what Shia felt.
“Ooh! Is that Little Rabbit!?” (Kong)
“Gahaha! Are you still bummed out that Megiddo-sama beat you to pulp!?” (Bacchus)
Bacchus and Kong emerge from the tattered door while bringing more booze in multiple barrels. Realizing that Shia is with them, Kong immediately poured one out from the barrel until the foam overflowed the mug and smmed them in front of Shia.
“Well cheer up! Here! Drink and you’ll instantly feel better!” (Kong)
“...Isn’t this just booze?” (Shia)
“Gahaha! Just what they all said! Booze is the ultimate cure for depression!” (Bacchus)
“Hey Kong! Don’t give her that! She’s way too young!” (Epsilon)
Agni and Epsilon tried to take the booze out from Shia’s reach since they all thought that Shia’s way too young to even be allowed to consume alcohol.
It was obvious that Shia knew that she’s possibly the youngest out of the people present in the dining hall. But knowing that she’s being treated as a child makes her vein on her face pop up.
*glug glug glug glug
Because of that… Shia grabbed the mug and then chugged the beer in one motion.
“PWAAH!” (Shia)
“S-Shia-chan?” (Ozma)
Ozma, Agni and Epsilon were surprised that Shia immediately cleaned a whole mug that's basically the size of her face full of beer in one go. Because of this, her face becomes completely dyed in red alongside her bunny ear.
“Shee!? Ai can drenk too! Aim naut a child! Gib me moar!!!” (Shia)
“Now that’s the spirit!” (Kong)
Chug! Chug! Chug! Chug! Echoes surround the drunk Shia as she drinks her second mug of beers and keeps on asking for more. The atmosphere got to the point that the three of the more responsible executives cannot intrude anymore.
“Well, I think it’ll be best to leave them alone for now, but can either of you both carry Shia-chan after all of this? I’ll tell Phantasmal King-sama about the situation.” (Ozma)
Both Agni and Epsilon nod at Ozma’s request and decide to oversee the whole party just in case things get too heated.
…That is until Megiddo shows up and challenges Shia in a drinking contest.
At that point, things become messy, the responsible executives cannot stop Megiddo and Shia did not back down from Megiddo’s taunt and began downing as many beers as possible.
…The results are that Shia woke up in Agni and Epsilon’s dormitory with an extreme hangover while Megiddo is still at the dining hall drinking her favorite alcohol.
…Is what she had done until Alice came and punched Megiddo until she ceases from existence, she came back though…
That day, Shia swore to never taste a sip of alcohol ever again.

.
Somewhere in the Southern region of the Demon Realm. Around the time where the Nagumo household finished with their training.
Under the red sunset sky, a battlefield can be spotted. Rubbles everywhere, multiple giant holes on the mountains, craters everywhere, the pce where a majestic mountain was once pced was repced with massive craters. It was like a scene from a war.
Amidst the tattered field, a figure towering the remaining mountain could be seen, alongside a woman on top of said figure. Said woman was sitting gracefully but also a bit pale.
It was not a skin complexion as this woman in question was Tio, and she was freezing after a bout in her training.
[So, what are your thoughts on your training today?] (Magnawell)
Magnawell telepathically asked Tio regarding her training for today. Despite Tio shivering from the cold, she answered with a clear voice.
“It was… enlightening, to think the four Demon Dragon hath such mastery of their respective elements.” (Tio)
Unlike the training the Nagumo household went through, Tio was first ordered by Magnawell to have a light spar with the four Demon Dragon first to gauge her strength and learn something from them.
While Tio lost against them all, it was because they all had mastered their elemental strength to an absurd degree, and Tio fought fiercely against all of them.
Except for one individual…
“Especially Nidzveld-dono, I cannot believe a wyvern can produce such a fme, it sends shivers even more than Eingana-dono’s sub-zero magic. Not to mention, her speed is superior to most dragons I’ve ever met.” (Tio)
While Tio lost against all of the Four Dragon, never in her life she thought she lost badly against a being smaller than her, a wyvern no less.
Wyverns in Tortus are also deemed inferior to dragons. However, after meeting with Nidzveld, she realized despite being a wyvern, she’s the fiercest and strongest of the four.
The result was Tio getting bombarded by Nidzveld’s breath and not a single attack from Tio nded on Nidzveld.
An utter defeat.
[Then, from your fight against them, did you realize what you cked?] (Magnawell)
A moment after Magnawell asked his second question, Tio closed her eyes, imagining her battles against the four Demon Dragon.
Slowly but surely, a thought emerges from deep within Tio’s subconscious.
“...It appears I still have some unfinished business with my “selves”.” (Tio)
Yes, as she was a Dragonmen, she always envisioned two versions of herself.
One as a “human”, and one as a “dragon”.
The “human” loathes the “dragon” as she thought all of her tragedies stem from her being a Dragonmen, while the dragon loathes the human for being weak.
An amalgamation of emotions piled up, slowly but surely. While it was a small nudge, it slowly grew.
Tio thought she already cleansed all of her doubts and negative thoughts way back in Schnee snowfield byrinth. But reality tells different tales. That thought prevents her from getting stronger.
[Fufu, negative thoughts are hard to eradicate. I, too, still have my own doubts and negative thoughts sometimes.] (Magnawell)
“...Even for thou, Magnawell-dono?” (Tio)
[Of course, even Kuromueina, and even Shallow Vernal-sama, they all have them. It’s the amount of negative emotions and how they handle them differs.] (Magnawell)
Tio was slightly perplexed, these people are even more ancient than Miledi and the liberators, yet they still have their fws. It was expected, yet unexpected at the same time.
“...And how doth thou handle yours, Magnawell-dono?” (Tio)
Nervously, Tio asked Magnawell on how to handle his own thoughts and negative emotions. A pause ter, Magnawell spoke.
[Umu, for me, the first time I felt it, I stopped with whatever I was doing, and had a long thought.] (Magnawell)
“...thou stopped and had a long thought?” (Tio)
[Yes, thinking of my fws, thinking of my “self”, my fwed self, a small, frail, yet to know the whole world “self”. The first thing I did after I found it… was to apologize and say thank you to it.] (Magnawell)
“...apologize and thank you?” (Tio)
[Yes, I apologize for ignoring it for the entirety of my life, and thanking it for standing by my side for the longest time.] (Magnawell)
As Magnawell reminisced about his long past, he slowly lifted his head alongside Tio, looking towards the slowly darkening sky.
[As I soothe my childish self, I encourage it, to explore this vast world, to find new things to explore, to experience many things… to become stronger and mightier, for that time, I attained the title of the King, albeit forcefully.] (Magnawell)
“...And what’s the result?” (Tio)
[Well, I start moving, finding trusted and powerful subordinates, and building my own nd. The rest was history. Sometimes I delve deep inside me to soothe my childish self once every hundred years, and it makes me who I am today.] (Magnawell)
As Magnawell stopped reminiscing about his past, he turned his attention to Tio once more.
[You had been listening to your “dragon” self, but have you ever listened to your “human” self?] (Magnawell)
“...” (Tio)
Tio cannot answer the question. That is because for the longest time, in order to become stronger to avenge her parents, she needs to take advantage of her Dragonmen physique. Her knowledge and strength stems from the fact that she listens to her “dragon” self.
Her “human” self, however, was ignored.
Now that Ehit was sin and no new threat may emerge in the foreseeable future at that time. Her “human” self began to take shape, and revolted against her.
Until the “Dragon” incident takes pce.
After the “Dragon” incident, she began to wonder if there’s any way to become stronger without relying on her dragon form.
That thought triggers the “dragon” self inside her, to cast away her “human” self entirely.
But Tio didn’t want to, she realized she needed both her “human” self and “dragon” self to truly become the Dragonmen Tio that her family recognizes and loved.
[The Four Demon Dragon have embraced many of their “selves”, they all embrace their fws, and turn them into their strength. They took pride in their form, their strength, their might. However, they also acknowledge their weakness, like water current slowly eroding stones in the riverbanks, they slowly shave their fws day by day.] (Magnawell)
As Tio heard Magnawell’s advice, she closed her eyes. Slowly, she envisioned her “human” self.
What comes out… is a small familiar girl, with a terrified face as if she saw something horrifying.
Driven by sadness and pity, she slowly embraced the child, and it slowly turned into light and seeped into Tio.
A moment ter, Tio opened her eyes with a clearer expression than before.
“...I think I understand now.” (Tio)
[Fufu, good to know. I knew you would get it fast enough.] (Magnawell)
Like a father who feels proud of his daughter’s growth, Magnawell cheers for Tio’s growth.
[I believe you already told me what it means to be a Dragon, is it not?] (Magnawell)
“Yes…” (Tio)
Tio remembered her answer as she was questioned by Magnawell shortly after she arrived at the Southern region of the Demon Realm.
What is… a Dragon?
When Tio encounter such question, she deeply thought about it for a while until she arrived at her own answers.
A Dragon… At first I thought I, no, we are the harbinger of destruction, and there are certainly those who become that… yet… there are those who destroy not for the sake of destruction, but for renewal, a rebirth.
A Dragon… At first I thought we were a proud creature… yet… There are those who are humble and strive to be better.
A Dragon… At first I thought we were full of wisdom… yet… there are those who acted foolishly for those it cared about.
An anomaly… a paradox… that’s what I think. We are destruction, yet we create a path of rebirth in each of our steps, we’re proud, yet not vain, wise, yet fwed…
As Tio finished her answer, Magnawell, satisfied with her answer, praises Tio while also adding her answer with his own.
Indeed, to be a dragon, it is not simply being born as one, it is a choice, a burden, and a privilege. To be a dragon, means to be responsible with our strength, to be feared, yet not hated, respected, yet not worshipped, we are strong to protect what we hold dear, we are indomitable for we will never falter, we are proud, for we carry our name’s legacy with our wings.
You are but a hatchling, so your answer will grow alongside you. As such, I shall impart a bit of wisdom with you, our pride is not in what others see us, but what we see ourselves as, and through that vision, is how the world shall remember us.
As Tio reminisced of their conversation, Magnawell spoke again.
[You are quite special, you are a dragon, yet you are human. Quite an exception amongst the Dragons I have instructed. As such, I also shall impart you with other wisdom.] (Magnawell)
“... Another piece of wisdom?” (Tio)
[What do you think of the difference between the Demon Realm and the Human Realm?] (Magnawell)
Tio was a bit confused at Magnawell’s question, nevertheless, she thought about it. Shortly after, she answered.
“...I felt as if the Demon realm, while it is more advanced, they all somehow feel… ancient.” (Tio)
[That line of thought is not wrong.] (Magnawell)
“Is it not?” (Tio)
[Just like us, the Dragons, the Demons also have long lifespans, some don’t even have lifespan at all. Therefore, we have a skewed perception of time, and we… stagnated. This is the problem with most long living beings, we all slowly succumbed with the passage of time and let it pass by us for an innumerable amount of time save for few individuals.] (Magnawell)
With mencholy in its telepathic voice, Magnawell continues his story with Tio attentively listening.
[However, humans are different, they have short lifespans, perhaps the shortest amongst the intelligent beings. Yet, that is the reason why they can advance their civilization to an absurd degree. Their whole history is no more than 20.000 years old, yet they have progressed so much it baffles those who visit the Human Realm for the first time. It is because their time in this very world is so short, that they utilize it to their fullest.] (Magnawell)
“...” (Tio)
[Now then, you already knew what it means to be a Dragon. Now let me ask you another question, what does it mean to be a “human”?] (Magnawell)
Tio did not answer Magnawell’s question immediately as she didn’t know what to answer. Then, she remembered.
A boy who crawled back from the abyss and killed god just to go back to his beloved home.
A girl who will do anything, even if it means abandoning her own flesh just to be stronger for protecting her loved ones.
A girl who shoulders all of the returnee’s worries and encourages them to move forward.
A girl who never gives up in saving her childhood friend from any danger, like what a family would do to its child.
A girl who shoulders the future of the entire nation with its people resides in it.
A pair of men and women who never gave up on finding their children.
They all have different goals and mindset, yet they all have their simirities.
“...To think the answer was right in front of me this whole time.” (Tio)
With a gentle smile, Tio finally found her answer.
“Humans… they’re greedy, full of fws, yet full of desires, they’re easily influenced by others, capable of bringing massive destruction wherever they go. In fact, my parents, Chichiue and Hahaue, mine respectful parents who were once boasted as the strongest Dragonmen, were reduced to mere corpses in front of their brutality. They’re nothing short of barbarians…” (Tio)
However…
“Humans… they’re also capable of bringing tremendous changes, they are capable of many things that beings, who can do beyond what humans are capable of, can’t even think of. While some of them are beyond heartless, some of them are the exact opposite, wishing for happiness for all beings that they have ever heard of. They bring changes faster than we could comprehend, they could change their ways, from barbaric to cultured, just from changing their leadership. They are beings who wish upon the star, who dared to surpass heavens, just to fulfill their desires, whether they are good or bad.” (Tio)
Magnawell silently listens to Tio’s answer as she is almost out of breath just from describing what she thinks of humans as a whole.
“...Yes… they are beings who have limits, yet endless possibilities… their fws is what makes them move forward, and their desires is what makes them reach the stars…” (Tio)
[Umu, you have quite a description of humans, you must have been dwelling with them for quite some time.] (Magnawell)
“Well, mine family is composed of humans, a vampire and a bunny rabbit after all.” (Tio)
[Fuhahaha! That is true!] (Magnawell)
As they both chit chat, without them realizing, the sun has completely set and the starry twilight sky repced the previous red sunset sky.
[Well then, our time has run out. You should go to Nidzveld’s home and take a rest. Tomorrow, we shall begin your training, for both your “dragon” and your “human” self.] (Magnawell)
“Yes! I’m in thou care!” (Tio)
With an energetic voice, Tio replied to Magnawell and flew over towards nearby mountain that was not touched from their fight with a lighthearted mood.
It was the first time she felt so liberating ever since the Schnee Snowfield byrinth. This training will surely bring a good change to herself.
That’s what Tio truly thought from the bottom of her heart.
Afterword:
???: Senpai still isn’t back yet, it’s kinda lonely here.
Author: Well this chapter is a little bit serious right now.
???: True, anyway, while I get why Shia-san’s section is like that, but for Tio-san’s section, it gets a little bit too philosophical, yeah?
Author: It’s something I’ve learned several months ago, and I’m actually happy I get to apply my knowledge into my writings. I’m also listening to solemn music while writing Tio’s section that also helped flesh out the feelings.
