Chapter 67: The Dead (iii).

The three generals unched themselves into the hoard as the rampage began. Abidjan unched himself towards Melora as she released her purple fmes; their swords collided, releasing sparks. They exchanged more blows as they tested each other’s strengths. Abidjan released his dark fmes as the two collided violently. The two created space as he circled Melora once more; it seemed as if he was taunting her, but she knew better.

He attacked once more as their two fmes collided; his attacks were very strong but nothing she couldn’t handle. She tried to counter-attack, but he was a step ahead. He dodged the attack, then brought down his heavy sword, but she was able to dodge at the st minute.

  “Why are you holding back?”

She was only answered with low growl-like sounds. They crossed swords once more, with the results being the same. Melora had no time to py coy with the undead, so she decided to start fighting earnestly. She released her mana as her entire body was now covered in purple fmes, which set her sword abze. The heat she produced was intense as she approached Abidjan; he too released his dark fmes, but unlike Melora’s, his produced cold. She wondered if this was a side effect of being undead.

  “Kill….me….I….don’t…..belong…..here…..no…..control…..”

Abidjan was momentarily able to break free and utter a few words,he let out a harrowing scream as he stumbled then stared at Melora once more. Abidjan disappeared from her vision as she instinctively blocked her side; the strike was so fierce that it blew her away into the trees. It then followed up with another attack, but Melora blocked then countered as she cut off his hand. The undead attacked with its one hand as the fmes crashed together; he pressed his sword down on her. Undead suddenly appeared and started to surround her; she maneuvered as one of the undead tried to nd a blow on her.

Abidjan picked up his severed arm and reattached it while Melora was dealing with the undead. He attacked once more as he nded a strong attack which Melora was barely able to dodge. She countered, but one of the undead threw itself and protected him. Abidjan grabbed Melora and pinned her down as he tried to stab her, but he was overpowered and kicked away. Melora darted towards the same direction as she swung her sword, but he was able to block.

He then disappeared once more as Melora blocked the attack. She then pnted her sword in the dirt and released a wave of purple fire as he jumped out of the way. Abidjan raised his hand and unched bck fire nces towards her way. She dodged the first two attacks, then parried the st one. The dark fmes felt cold and felt as if it was instilling dread and misery in her heart. She unleashed her purple fmes as the lingering feeling disappeared. The two stared at each other once more.

Arel came crashing down from the sky near them; she looked heavily injured with cw and bite marks all over her body. Multiple undead could be seen crawling around her as she rose up weakly and released a green fire all over the area, killing multiple. She tried to fly away, but Birom came crashing down, pinning her. She let out a roar while spitting out her green fire once more. Melora lunged herself towards the bone dragon nding a powerful hit. Then it flew away.

  “Arel can you continue fighting?”

“I can try, I am sorry that I am not of use. I was never made for fighting.”

“Listen to me, I will buy you time jus run away.”

“I am many things but not a coward.”

“You have a husband that is waiting for you, don’t waste your life.”

“I am the one who is supposed to help you not the other way around. My husband will understand.”

  “You stubborn old hag.”

It was then the three generals appeared with them came a hoard of undead which circled them. Birom returned and let out a fierce roar.

“They just won’t stay dead.” Varie cursed as she stared at the endless sea of undead which stumbled towards them.

“It seems we are in quite the predicament.”

“Our first duty is always to secure the Grand Duchess's safety.” Arthur spoke as his red chains pierced one of the undead.

“What kind of leader would I be if I left my very own knights?”

“Think about the people.” Of chimed in.

“There won’t be any people if we loose so stop debating and start fighting.”

“And you call me stubborn.” Arel spoke as some of her wounds had already healed. She let out a powerful roar towards Birom who replied in kind.

“Melora this may be my st wisdom to you, do not try to tame the sun let it shine.” Arel flew off and crashed into Birom once more as the hoards and Abidjan colpsed on the group. Of smmed his hammer on the ground as it released a tide of mana which crashed an entire row of undead. Arthur's red chains killed multiple as his rapier elegantly dealt with multiple undead. Varie’s long sword was covered mana as she sliced them as if she was in a frenzy.

Melora dealt with Abidjan once more; the battle had become more fierce as she released more of her mana. Abidjan was slowly overpowering her as he did not fear getting injured; he relentlessly continued to attack even after being stabbed and sshed. Melora looked around as the entire group was slowly getting pushed again. It felt as if the walls were closing on her. Panic started to creep in as the thought of everyone dying became a reality. She had to save her people, she had to save the forest, she had to see Adeline one more time. Abidjan kicked Melora into a tree as she reached out to the neckce, then removed it. Her body changed, and her purple fmes burst out.

Her body started to burn as the surrounding area was instantly charred; her purple fmes turned into a vortex, sucking in the undead and the surrounding area. Her eyes nded on Abidjan; she crashed into him with her sword pnted in his chest. Abidjan swung his sword ced with the dark fmes, but she caught his sword. Her purple fmes consumed his as the weapon stared to melt. She then ripped off the weapon together with his hand. She grabbed his skull, then ripped it off and crushed it.

  “Tha…….nk y….ou.”

She got up as her eyes nded on the group. She flew towards them like a missile and nded on the undead. The remaining Stormvilles swarmed on her. The three generals pushed deeper as they fought off some of them. Melora went on a rampage as she tore through them like paper, leaving a trail of purple fmes.

The momentum had fully swung to their favor as the four of them carved a path. Birom flew above them and released his dark fmes, but the three generals were able to dodge. Melora took the bst head-on as her eyes tracked the bone dragon, which was shortly intercepted by Arel. As they both came tumbling to the forest, leaving behind destruction, Melora shot towards them and nded on Birom as she unleashed a series of attacks. She was easily swatted off as her body flew across the ground. Birom unleashed his fmes towards her direction, but Arel once again knocked him off as his fmes spread everywhere. Melora once again shot towards Birom as she nded her sword on his neck and unleashed her purple fire. Birom roared as he tried to take flight once more, but Arel held him down.

“You can do it Mero.” Arel cheered her on as she poured more of her mana as the fmes spread towards his entire body. Birom squirmed until most of his body was reduced to molten bone. Melora spent most of her mana on that attack as she retrieved her sword and fell to the ground. Arel was heavily injured and unable to continue as she returned to her human form. Melora used her strength to slowly get up and retrieved Arel’s rge body. She weakly tried to carry it as the three generals were finally able to cut down the majority of the undead, including the remaining Stormville’s. They all looked very tired, but they did not show any weakness. Melora pced Arel’s body on a nearby tree and got up. She shook off any fatigue in her body as she recalled her purple fmes and let out a roar, ready to finish the fight. The man appeared once more with a pleased look.

“You have truly proved yourselves. You will be a worthy addition to my army.”

“What army? They are all dead and you will follow.”

“How scary, these were mere distractions while I executed my actual pn."

Ten lumbering chimera’s appeared; they were almost ten feet tall with a fusion of different creatures, some were even human. They let out small grunts as they slowly made their way. Another wave of undead appeared; these ones were corpses of the fallen knights and ogres. Louie and a small group of knights and ogres could be seen approaching from the right as they slowly retreated from the hoard. Scales blocked off the advancing undead with her rge body, which was covered in wounds, buying them precious time.

“Those things are very dangerous, nothing seems to hurt them.” Louie warned as the group took a defensive position. Melora attacked one of the chimera, cutting its hand clean off, then the leg. In an instant, its limbs grew back, and then fought back. Its attacks were slow but brutal. Melora resorted to burning it; the chimera slowly stumbled forward as its skin burned off. The fire seemed to be working, but the chimera was not dying; in fact, it was out healing the damage it received. Melora retreated back to the group as she shook her head; they were all already exhausted and now faced a new daunting task.

“What is this abomination is it a chimera?” Melora heard a familiar voice followed by a thud as another hydra appeared on the battlefield. The bck and red hydra instantly slithered towards Scales as he began to help with the undead; he spewed his venom everywhere as it melted them. A second thud could be heard behind them as they turned and saw two rge metallic green wings. Varie wanted to attack but was stopped by Melora. The demon could be seen attending to the injured Arel as he forces down several healing potions down her mouth. The demon then stood up and turned toward the group his eyes blood shot.

  “Who did this?”
