Chapter 420

Anton was eating Sunday breakfast with his family when Harun approached him.

“There’s a pod of blue whales and pink dolphins following our ship, and the crew assigned to the deck where you last went and played with the whales and dolphins said to me that it might be the same families you played with.”

If that was true, this was the third time in a few months traveling on the ocean that he had met his ocean friends. Both times, they gave him gifts. One was the Pearl of the Ocean that gave off a nice, calming, dim light and allowed those who sleep near it to have a relaxing full sleep.

The second gift that he received from them was the Coral Comb that Anna was now wearing. The comb would allow the person who brushes his or her hair before sleeping to have a restful sleep as well, and not only that, if it was worn in the hair as an accessory, it would provide the wearer an additional mana stat.

One of the secrets that Anton’s family discovered was that if a magic item that added the mana stats to the wearer was worn by a regular person, that person could become a mage if they managed to memorize a spell while wearing the item. The additional mana stats would awaken the magical talents of the regular person but they would have to persist in memorizing the spells which could take several days up to several weeks.

Because of that, Walter, one of Anton’s rich friends from New Drennor, became a mage, although a not-so-talented one. If the person learned his first spell, they would have to keep wearing the item that added the mana stats to the wearer until they had grown enough mana of their own to dispense with the item which admittedly, without the assistance of Anton’s Meditation Aura and the tamed mana in the surrounding provided by the mana power banks, would have taken an extremely long time for the mage who became one because of the magic item.

Their family speculated that even though items that provided mana to the wearer were not that rare, the fact that a regular person with no magely talent could become a mage wasn’t known, and they thought that it was because a person would have to persist in memorizing a spell. Who would persist for a week or two in trying to memorize a cantrip if they had the thought that it was impossible?

The only reason why Walter and the girls in the family were able to memorize a spell in several hours was because of Anton’s aura and the environment filled with mana, and even then, they still doubted if they would be able to.

The Coral Comb was returned to Anna soon after because the magic defensive item with three Diablo II armor spells that Anton created and gave to his family and friends also had a stat that added mana to the wearer so right now, the Coral Comb was only being used by the girls so they could have their beauty sleep every night.

Since it was a Sunday, Anton had no classes, and his band practice with Torun and the other was only scheduled every Thursday and Friday, and that meant that he did not have anything important to do, so after saying goodbye to his family, he hurried to the deck where Harun said the crew spotted the whales and the dolphins.

If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

When he arrived at the deck which was the one assigned to their hallway, Anton looked at the pod of blue whales and dolphins and he was sure that they were the ones he played with before. It wasn’t because he recognized them or anything like that, since, to be honest, he could not differentiate the whales and dolphins from each other. He was sure that they were his friends because it appeared that when they saw him, the whales and the dolphins acted excitedly.

More than likely, his friends were excited not because of him but because Anton was able to provide the animals mana-infused water, which apparently helped animals to become something like spirit animals, as proven by the evolution of Maide and Bailey.

Their family’s beloved horses were both turning into spirit animals. They’re not there yet, but they’re very close.

Anton told the crew that’s guarding the deck that he would fly out to the blue whales and the dolphins and to inform the other mages that’s looking after this section. The crew hurried somewhere, and Anton waited for their reply. He didn’t want to be fined again for acting against the ship’s rules.

His friends probably became impatient waiting for him since they swam closer to the ship but after a few minutes, the sailor that Anton sent to ask for permission returned and informed him that they were allowing him to do what he want as long as he would shoulder all the responsibility that would occur if any accidents happen.

“What accidents are they talking about?” Anton asked, and the sailor just shrugged.

Anton thought that they probably meant that if he brought others with him and, for some reason, was accidentally left by the ship or was injured, he was the one who was going to shoulder the mistake.

He then used his Telekinesis spell and flew to his ocean friends and played with them for several hours. Of course, he didn’t forget to give the mana infused water and even created a localized rain in the area where were at that was infused with mana to the delight of the blue whales and the pink dolphins.

Anton really loved the blue whales and the pink dolphins. The whales were gentle giants and even in their play, he could feel their concern of not letting their huge bodies hurt him, not that they would be able to because his stats gave him a tremendous amounts of physical defenses. The pink dolphins were really cute and if he could keep some of them as pet, he would have invited them to stay with him all the time, which was truly impractical.

Even when lunchtime arrived, Anton didn’t stop playing with his ocean friends but he did notice that Anna, Lunelle, Ramona, Belinda, Walter, and Frederick were watching him play with the dolphins but he also saw that they started practicing their magic and that meant that he was near enough that his auras reached them.

After a while, he saw Torun and the others as well and even Antonia, Lucia, and Philip, but he didn’t invite them even if he could lift them since the Blue Whales were really huge and they could be hurt if he flew them with him to play with the whales and the dolphins.

Every hour or so, he fed the blue whales and the pink dolphins mana water, and he also kept casting the Blizzard spell wherein he controlled the mana for the spell to become gentle rain filled with mana and this spell truly delighted his ocean friends.

At around two in the afternoon, it seemed like it was time for the dolphins and the whales to leave since he suddenly saw that half of them began traveling away from the course the ship was taking. The rest remained to say goodbye to him. He hugged his ocean friends one last time and allowed them all to leave while he remained flying on course with Amelia.

Three whales suddenly returned though but it seemed like they came from deep beneath and when they opened their mouths, Anton saw one chest each inside their mouths. Based on their behavior, they wanted him to take the chest from their mouths, so he did.
