Prologue

Dean considers himself a very unlucky person.

When he was 6, his parents tragically died in an accident during a confrontation between some criminals and the police. He was at school at the time, and when he heard the news, it was like someone hit him with a hammer.

That was also when he learned an important fact: The world is a dangerous pce. One could lose their life in an instant, either by accident or at someone's hands. This fact was further reinforced as he grew older. As heroes began to emerge, so too did vilins.

Supernatural abilities became quite common as time passed. A man with a cape wearing his underwear outside, an ocean king, a woman from thousands of years ago, and many others with extraordinary abilities began to emerge.

He didn't know why it was only during his time that they started to become active, but they did, and they became the precursors of more danger. Occasional robot or alien invasions, devastated cities, and world-ending events occurred almost yearly. Even living outside of rge cities made no difference.

Frankly, he wondered how people could still be so optimistic living in such a world.

Knowing the world was dangerous, he took it upon himself to ensure his safety.

He learned how to use guns and hunt, and he even sought ways to gain meta or magical powers.

As, perhaps he was destined for the ordinary? His endeavors to gain abilities turned up nothing, and while learning how to fight made him able to defend himself against some muggers and thieves, those threatening the world's safety weren't exactly ordinary.

While there were some respectable heroes out there who, despite cking powers, still do their best to save people, there were just some things a bck belt couldn't do.

Like trying to kick through an alien's door, for example...

  "Haah! Arg!"

Dean rubbed his leg after kicking the high-tech door.

"#!%^!" The door's voice activation seemed to say something, but he couldn't understand the nguage.

He looked up the hallway, littered with alien technology, architecture not found on Earth, and the persistent alien nguage announcements that he couldn't understand.

How did he find himself in this pce?

He worked as a contractor, inspecting a building site when suddenly a giant, cw-like alien ship appeared in the middle of the city, which just happened to be near him. When things got chaotic and the man in the red cape stopped the alien ship, part of the ship, glowing sinisterly with ominous bck light, crashed down on him. The next thing he knew, he was inside here.

Seeing as he couldn't get through the door, he looked towards the right of the hallway. Something like an invisible wave pulsed there, causing him to gulp.

On the other side of the hallway, there was wreckage and something like electricity running around. He had actually come from there before managing to slip here.

Seeing as the only door couldn't be accessed and the left path was unavaible, there was only one path left.Steeling himself, he walked towards the pulsating wave of the corridor.

He had tried to find a weapon of sorts, but there was nothing.

He walked slowly and carefully. He could hear faint thumping sounds from the outside, and when he stepped towards the pulsating wave, he felt weird, as if he were suddenly beneath the ocean. But aside from that, he continued walking on. There, he found a double door with a huge hole in it. The pulsating wave seemed to come from there, as well as light escaping through this hole.

From the other side, another path continued, leading who knows where.

Unable to resist his curiosity, he carefully peeked inside the hole. The first thing he saw was the blue sky, which delighted him so.

There was a huge, ripped hole on the end of the room. At the center was a small capsule of sorts, surrounded by devices that emitted the pulse waves.

Seeing no immediate danger or aliens, he decided to take his chance as he slipped inside the hole. There was an arm suddenly bring as his foot touched the ground.

Not wanting to dally any longer, he ran through the wreckage that opened the ship. Along the way, he couldn't help but take a look at the small capsule. When he got close to it, he saw a baby in what seemed like orange liquid, incubating the baby. His presence seemed to arm whatever system the ship had, as the pulsating waves strengthened and ominous bck energy seemed to emit from the devices around the small incubator holding the baby. As he passed the incubator, thinking freedom was close, he suddenly felt a tug.

"Argh!" he yelped as he was sucked into the center of the room, his back hitting one of the devices that emitted bck pulses. Suddenly, the bck wave touched his arm, and he saw it disintegrate.

"Fuck!" He cursed as his heart raced, he pulled himself, trying to resist the suction force, but it was no use. Then, the bck wave suddenly receded, and the suction force disappeared. He fell to the ground, just now registering the pain.

  "Argh!!"

The pain was unbearable as he writhed on the ground.

"I need to get out of here!" he thought aloud, tending to the pain as he tried to get back on his feet. That's when the devices around the incubator suddenly beeped, and the next thing he knew, everything was devoured by darkness!

"What?" he uttered, but no sound came out of his mouth. He couldn't see his body. The only thing in the darkness was the orange incubator.

This was beyond confusing. He didn't even think about what had just happened. He "walked" towards the incubator. There, he saw the baby with its eyes closed. To the side, he noticed a small crack, as orange liquid leaked out of it. Even though he had no hands, he tried "touching it." Then, he felt a sucking force and bcked out completely.

  "It's here!"

"Wait, are you sure this is safe?"

Wang Lee's heartbeat was racing. "Was this it?" he thought. "Was this the opportunity to ascend to immortality?" Ever since he was a kid, he had heard stories about how a farmer's child or nobody could come across an opportunity that allowed them to ascend to immortality, become a genius, and a dragon among men.

As someone with below-average talent who could only hope to achieve foundation establishment in his life, he desperately hoped for heaven to give him a chance.

"Is this it?" he asked himself again. He jumped and nded on the ground, just next to the crater. His companion nded not long after, next to him.

"What is it?" Zhang Chen asked carefully.

Wang Lee squinted his eyes. The dust cleared, and what they saw was an egg-like orange crystal. Inside...

"A baby?" he muttered, in shock and incredulous. Out of all the things he was expecting, it certainly wasn't a baby.

"What...?" Zhang Chen was also in disbelief.

Then the crystal suddenly cracked, taking them by surprise as they took a step back, ready to escape. Orange liquid dripped out of the crystal just as they were expecting a commotion of sorts....

  "Waahhh!"

A baby's cry instead sounded in the forest. Wang Lee and Zhang Chen exchanged incredulous looks.
