Wang Lee wiped his sword of blood from the wild hounds he had just killed. "No more sign of more incoming?" he asked as the guys emerged out of the forest, some with blood spttered on them.
"None can be seen at least," one of the rger men said.
Wang Lee frowned. Wild hounds were just that, ordinary creatures not really a threat to martial artists. But they always attacked lone and weak prey, never did they attack a group of targets like theirs unless they were desperate for food.
But Peaceful Jade forest weren't exactly cking in game. Unless, of course, all the game had run away... Wang Lee shook his head, thinking it was pessimistic to think the worst from just one attack.
"Lee! Come over!" A familiar voice called out. Wang Lee immediately sprinted towards the sound. By the side of the wagon, his wife, Zhen Wang Chen, held out their son, who had his eyes closed. His heart skipped a beat, thinking of the worst. But not seeing blood on him also made him rex slightly.
"What's wrong? What happened!" Wang Lee excimed. He noticed blood spttered on his wife's shoulders, her spear down to the side, and not far, a dead wild hound.
"A wild hound jumped on him. I managed to push it away and kill it, but he suddenly passed out," Zhen Wang Chen said worriedly and anxiously as she tried to shake their 12-year-old son.
As Wang Lee knelt beside them, he could hear faint snickers from the surrounding people.
"No wonder he's rejected. Just from that, he passed out?"
"Aside from being a cripple, his son is easily scared too?"
"Too bad..."
Wang Lee ignored them. If he let people's words affect him so much, he would have died a long time ago.
"Yun, wake up..." he shook his son's body, urging him awake.
It took a couple more moments before Wang Yun's eyes fluttered, and slowly he opened them. The first thing he saw was an unfamiliar man of Eastern origin. His hard features and short bck hair made him look menacing, but in his eyes, there were softness and concern.
"Who?" he spoke out, confusion in his tone. "Who am I?" he briefly wondered.
When he was jolted, his brain seemed to have been electrified, and his body heated, warmth washed him, so he involuntarily sat up.
"Huh?" he uttered dumbfoundedly. He could hear people around him saying something, but his focus was on the memories fshing by his mind.
"Wang Yun?" A female voice snapped him out of his reverie. Wang Yun automatically answered, "I'm fine, mother. I'm alright..." It was both familiar and unfamiliar as he said those words.
Slowly, he was lifted up on his feet. The appearance of a woman, his mother with tied-up hair, looked at him with concern.
"Are you really alright? Is your head dizzy? Does something hurt?" his mother asked in rapid questions.
Wang Yun's expression, dazed, slowly turned to normal as he gazed at his surroundings before putting on a wry smile. "I'm fine, mother, really. I was just surprised," he scratched his cheek in a familiar way that let the two sigh in relief.
Wang Lee examined his son for a moment before he truly rexed. "Come on, in you go the wagon. Don't worry, in a couple of days we'd be back alright?" he ruffled his son's hair before his wife led him inside the wagon.
Wang Lee exchanged a brief look with his wife before turning back to the matter.
--
Dean... Or should he call himself Wang Yun now? Stared in a daze at his surroundings, trying to be inconspicuous. There were other children on the wagon chattering, but he was in no mood to talk.
He was in a wagon, just big enough for two or three men to sleep and pulled by two horses with two horns on them. Surrounding the wagons were groups of warriors of Eastern origin, armed with either spears, sabers, or bows and arrows.
Then beside the road they were trudging on was a seemingly endless forest full of vitality. Up to the sky was the gring sun and what seemed like faint myriad colors of aurora stretching beyond the horizon.
It was quite beautiful and natural.
He still felt unbelievable about his situation, but what he was seeing and feeling were very real, however. He had no idea how long he sat dazed.
"Where am I? How did I get here?" he thought. He was discombobuted by the memories from his mind and added that to his new and alien surroundings. His head couldn't help but hurt.
But then words started to appear in front of him.
[Dormant physique awakened, initiating system...]
[Kryptonian system online... connecting to the hive network... connection failed!]
[Analyzing current status...]
{Analysis complete!}
The words snapped him out of his headache. An alien nguage that he somehow could understand appeared in front of him. Before he could think any further, a panel appeared in front of him.
K'el
Race: Kryptonian. (Your DNA is edited to be the best of the Kryptonians. Your cells are able to absorb a star's radiation to nourish your body and unlock abilities. Your cells are the greatest organic power storage unit the race has created.)
Css: 0 ( Determines your usefulness to the civilization. The higher the css, the greater the privileges. More functions unavaible. Connect to the hive network for more.)
Physique: 1
Abilities: None.
It was short and simple, but the information contained in it made his eyes bulge.
"What's wrong? Scared?" A kid called out in front of him, noticing his expression. Even though the kids inside the wagon were basically the same as him, coming from being rejected in the city, there was a hint of mockery and joy in the kid's tone. But Dean ignored him.
"I'm a Kryptonian?!" he excimed inwardly, nearly shouting it out. The confusion just got more complicated. "What's going on?" he tried to process everything, knowing that being impatient would lead to nothing. He took a few deep breaths to ponder.
'Summarize the key points,' he thought to himself.
Firstly, he was Dean Schrader, a citizen of Metropolis who got caught up in an alien ship. The st thing he remembered was being sucked into an incubator with a baby on it and then bcking out.
Then he found himself here as memories fshed by his head that were his and not his at the same time. The only reason he could identify himself as Dean at the moment was because his life on Earth memories dominated Wang Yun's memories.
Then, putting aside how he found himself here, these panel-like systems suddenly appeared in front of him, with a different name and with a race saying "Kryptonian." And by logic, these name and race were referring to him!
Him as a Kryptonian! The same as the man in red cape and his cousin!
In a Eastern fantasy world!
What the fuck is going on?!
Again, his head started to hurt, so he groaned.
"Are you okay, Yun? Does your head hurt?" A voice called to him. Turning his head towards the voice, Dean answered, trying to control his expression.
"I'm okay, mother. Don't worry..." The words felt both awkward and familiar in his tone. Dean's parents had passed away when he was a child. Now there was a mother caring for him and looking at him with concern while holding a spear and wearing light armor at that.
Zhang Wang Chen looked doubtful but eventually nodded.
Meanwhile, Dean suddenly felt a warmth flowing through his body. It was a good and rexing feeling, as if his entire body was being massaged. And it wasn't faint, so he couldn't brush it off as an imagination.
"What's that?" he wondered what had happened as he moved his body, wondering if something had touched him or something. The other kid passengers looked at him strangely. As he looked around the wagon, the panel still floating in front of him that he judged only he could see, because there was no reaction from the other people, he saw that something changed.
K'el
Race: Kryptonian.
Css: 0
Physique: 2
Abilities: None.
Dean was dumbfounded. His physique, which was previously 1, had changed to 2!
Did this mean his overall physical ability had doubled from before? But he didn't feel any different!
Dean tried to throw a punch, but again he didn't feel any different.
"Hey, you picking a fight!" the kid in front of him excimed.
"Shut up!" Dean responded. His tone made the kid immediately shut up.
Dean figured out the puzzle. Was the panel in front of him broken? Actually, where did this system come from?
The obvious answer, it seemed, was that it came from Kryptonian technology, considering it had a different name depicting him on it. And the only possible Kryptonian thing that he had come into contact with was the baby in the incubator!
As for how and why he found himself in such a body, he didn't bother thinking about it at the moment besides, aside from public information and theories on the internet, he had little idea what a Kryptonian really is, though it seems he was about to find out firsthand. Still, there were too many questions at the moment. The only thing he could verify was the change in his physique.
Because then he would truly know if he really was a Kryptonian.
Then maybe this wasn't all crazy, even though it already was.
He stood up. His height, which he estimated to be just barely 1.5 meters, didn't reach the ceiling of the wagon, so there was no problem fully standing up. He stretched his body, finding some changes, but nothing came.
He still felt normal.
That’s when…
“Attack!”
