Chapter one: ROGUE
“Best of luck”
“Thank you”, Arjun said, as he was taking the red file into his hands.
“Be careful. This is going to be a tough one.”
“Understood.” he said while giving a firm handshake.

Arjun just took an interesting case. A maniac, codenamed ‘ROGUE’ running around killing people and causing havoc. No one was able to find any retion between any two cases, which is becoming more bizarre. No reason was discovered for any of these crimes. The victims belong to a variety of disciplines, from wyers and doctors to bourers. Both rich and poor people became targets of this killing spree. They were spread all across the country, making it even more mysterious.
Eleven hits in nine months and the only thing found is the presence of the signature red mask, left by the Rogue, at every crime. This mask is the only object that ties these crimes together. This red mask has a human head shape, outlined with bck edges. These masks tied these crimes together, if not, they would’ve definitely not been observed as having any connections. He leaves no traces whatsoever, even to the trained eyes. It made the media address him as a ghost.
The first kill happened on January 1st, this year, in Goa, where a neurosurgeon was pushed off from 15th floor in his work. Since then many people have been killed, including a judge in Mumbai, a wyer in Hyderabad, a builder in Chennai, and even a worker in Kolkata. The st one happened in Punjab, yesterday, where a student leader was killed by homicide. There was no connection found between any of these cases. These people were never connected to one another and appear quite random. Although this has not yet been proven. There was no reason found for these crimes. The best guess was that these are mere paid hits, although this cannot expin the case of the poor worker. There was no lead whatsoever on who might be the next victim. It might be an influential person in the capital or a mere common man in a remote town.
This case was investigated by many police officers, a couple of special investigation teams, before being given to the CBI, where it is currently present. The progress made on this case, by the previous officers was basically none. As for the evidence, all the locations were thoroughly photographed and any item that seemed important was preserved. All the masks were collected and were currently being observed by scientific teams. Many interviews held with the closest people to the victims were recorded for future references.

“This is going to be interesting”, Arjun said closing the file. Looking out the window, taking a sip of his coffee, he continued. “Who are you?”
