Chapter two: Eleven

  The st kill happened less than 24 hours ago. Arjun jumped into a pne as soon as he can, to investigate the crime himself. The ten pces before this incident were already cleaned, and returned to normal state. He do not want to miss the opportunity to have a look at the crime scene himself. After navigating through narrow streets, he was finally at the location. The pce was chaotic with many ongoing protests. A student leader’s death will have a significant impact after all.

  “Good morning sir”, a local police officer invited Arjun into the house. “We are informed of your arrival.” He quickly navigated through the house to the room where the crime happened. The room was located on the first floor, on this two storied house. The room was narrow, a typical bedroom, a son would have in a house. It has a window that opens to the bustling market outside. The room was filled with posters containing slogans. Pictures of the leader himself alongside many state and national leaders were spread across the room. It had a small bed at the far side of the room, with a small table beside it.

  Coming to the main focus, the person was set on fire, while being tied up. The bck charred mark on the floor, in the center of the room showcases this. The body, which was mostly burnt, was carefully removed and sent to forensic team for scientific investigation. His family, who were currently abroad, have not arrived yet.

  “We were only able to find this red mask”, the police officer informed, pointing to the signature red mask of the ‘Rogue’. “This incident happened yesterday night”, he continued, “at about this time. Many people on the street saw a bright light from the window. A few called fire department, assuming it to be a fire accident. By the time the neighbors were able to break into the house, he was already dead.”

  “Who were the first people to see his body?”

  “The shopkeeper across the road and his assistant”

  “Call them”

  “Yes sir”, he said before leaving. Arjun took a good look around the room, before going downstairs. He was handed coffee on the way down by a constable.

  ?

  “So, when did this incident happen?”

  “Yesterday night, sir.”

  “What happened then? Expin in detail”

  “Yesterday, we were working in the shop as usual. All of a sudden, we saw a huge fire in sir’s room. We were quite shocked at first, but immediately came here to stop the fire. It took us about ten minutes to break this door down”, he said pointing to the broken door, “but when we were too te.”

  “Did you see anyone in the house other than him?”

  “No sir”

  ?

  “We were unable to find any clue sir”, the officer said, “there was no sign of any other person at all.”

  Simir to previous cases, there was no clue left behind. After thorough observation, Arjun left the pce and reached his room to take a rest. This case is proving to be more challenging than he thought. A student leader can have many enemies. “I don’t think this is done by some one who was affected by his activities as a student leader. Rogue knew him, before his stint as a leader.”, he thought, “This is a very old enemy. An enemy who has enough grudge to st this long, and time to pn his steps”
