Once she reached the stage, Iron Woman proceeded to take Captain's mic. "Sorry for being fashionably te," she drawled, a mischievous grin pstered on her face, "But this time it really wasn't my fault…it's just that I'm so amazing that men can't keep their hands of me hahaha" she chuckled, ughing at her own joke and the audience soon followed.
Captain Star watched her team member with silent disapproval, but just shook her head and backed off, used to the bombastic woman's antics.
"Now, onto business, as the Captain here announced, thanks to Lexcorp--more specifically, this incredibly smart and sexy person known as Antonia Luthor, or Iron Woman--we will be opening a new branch of the Avengers in this city. If you have the powers and the heart to be a hero, come work for us! We offer great saries, health insurance, housing, you name it, we got it! Just send an application through our website. Any questions?"
With that came an explosion of questions from the press, fighting over each other to be heard.
This whole process went on for about 20 minutes, where the Avengers answered questions from reporters. Then, just when they were going to sign some autographs for fans for a charity, they received an alert about some crime or world ending threat and had to cut things short, leaving swiftly.
Ultimately, while Taylor was a little disappointed that she didn't get to speak with her heroes (she knew that it was highly improvable since there were a lot of people wanting their autograph signed and the Avengers would only sign a few), she was still very happy she got to see them in person.
When we exited the pce it was already getting dark. I looked at the time in my phone.
"Hey, I'm sorry to be a buzzkill, but I gotta go. I have some pns." We had spent the whole day together, but now it was time to go. I could tell that Taylor looked a little reluctant to part ways with me, but I had things to do. I'd promised Vic we would watch a movie together tonight.
"Oh…ah, that's o-okay I guess?" she stuttered, looking at the ground, her posture kind of hugging herself.
"Come on, don't be so sad." I told her, cpping her in the back and making her stumble a little. "Look, here's my number, I said offering my phone. Add me and we'll hang out again soon, okay?"
With that her mood did a 180 and she could barely contain her excitement. She fumbled with my phone a little in her rush to put her contact in.
After that we parted ways. I thought about taking the bus home, but the city was dangerous at night and I had learnt this the hard way.
That's why instead of that, I decide to give Vick a call and see if she can pick me up.
The phone rings and rings and rings. Until finally she picks up on the 15th ring. When she finally picks up, I can almost hear what seems like faint yelling, and crashing sounds in the background…must be my imagination.
"Hey, Avery! What's up?!" Vick sounds out of breath, doing heavy exercise. She is talking loudly to get over the background noise.
"Uh, hey Vick, sorry to bother you," I say, "It sounds like you are doing something. If this is not a good moment we can always talk ter."
"…Yeah, yeah! Don't worry, I was just, em, just doing some self defense csses hahahaha! Yeah, self defense! Can never be too safe these days, you know! But, yeah, did you need anything?!"
"Well, I was going to ask if you could pick me up, but if you're busy, I can always call someone else."
"No, no! I'll pick you up! Just tell me where you are and I'll be there in…50 minutes or so!"
"Okay, I'm at Luthor Tower. I'll wait for you here."
