“Gabriels cell was empty. I didn’t get much information off the warden.” I gazed down at Brutus’s corpse, or more like what was left of him. Maybe I should have questioned him a bit more before I decided to turn him into goop. It was well deserved though.
“That’s fine, we have other leads to go on. Noodle has tracked down her parent’s cell. Just get back up here and we can figure out what to do next. Over and out.”
Uwu cut the line. Most of the fighting had ended by now. The Corpos retreated deeper into the prison. Their desperation would cause them to do crazy things. Good or bad for us. The prisoners took a beating, but they had armed up and pushed out into the prison proper, making their way towards the metro line.
Yeti was right, they were making good on disrupting the Corpos. After this st stronghold fell, it was just the Gellys left to take care of. We could do this. We could take the moon back.
I rejoined my comrades in the tower. It was worse for wear now, more bullet holes and scorch marks. Echo was wrapping a bandage around his arm, smirking at me. “Chicks dig scars…right?”
I shook my head, looking for Noodle. I had made a promise to her and now it was time to deliver. The Anthro-Cat was sitting on the floor, reloading her magazines.
“You ready?”
Her head shot up, “Now? We’re doing this?”
A mix of excitement and nerves quivered in her voice.
“You bet. It’s time to get your family back. We need to take out the st of the Corpos here, then get these prisoners back to the city, but first, your family.”
Noodle smiled and loaded her gun, spping the bolt home, “Let’s do this.”
A grin spread across my face as I gnced over to Uwu.
He nodded, “Alright, lets open all doors we can from here and move out. Echo, you fine enough to take point?”
“More than fine.”
“You know what to do.”
We took off out the tower and followed Echo’s lead. Uwu checked his holo-map now and then to make sure we were heading in the right direction.
Noodle stayed side by side with me, “The VIP cells have more freedom and access to all sorts of stuff. My parents have a b they are working at to make some of the Huff for the Corporate stooges. Hopefully, they haven’t made any like my own, or the stuff will be spread across the gaxy.”
“I’ve seen that shit first hand what it does to people. It isn’t pretty.” I gave Noodle a look of disappointment.
Noodle stared straight ahead, “I know what I’ve done. I can fix it.” Noodle went quiet the rest of out run to the VIP cells.
Uwu brought us to a halt outside the doors, “We don’t know what to expect. This is where the heavy resistance will be. Noodle, get your ass to your parents above all else. We will pull their fire.”
Noodle nodded.
“Alright, let’s go.” The doors opened up and we rushed inside expecting big firepower, instead we were greeted by some human fancy pants in a suit, backed with a dozen or so Corpo guards. They all id down their weapons in unison. We held our guns up in case it was some sort of trap.
“The name’s Alvin Altwedge, Hogg Industries. We y down our weapons and surrender. You can take what you like, if you let us live. We can’t compensate you just yet, but we can once we are allowed off pnet. We have a ship incoming. All that we ask is to leave us be so we can leave this rock without anymore violence.” The fancy pants stood stiff, giving us all a reassuring look.
Uwu gnced back at us. I knew just as much as the captain did.
“It’s your call, Captain.” The rest of the group nodded along with me.
Uwu lowered his rifle, “You help us find who we’re looking for, then you can leave. I cant promise you much outside this door though.”
Alvin gave a slight bow, “Please this way. Is it the Gellical Warlord you seek, sorry, former Gellical Warlord.” He gave a gnce at us, catching us off-guard. “We’ve known of him just a short while. Our warden, Brutus, had recognized him from some time ago. We were going to trade him away for our lives, but it seems like the Meowtws have got us cornered first. After out managers were executed by Admiral Michael, we were in such disarray.” The suit pressed some buttons on a terminal and a gate slid open behind him. “Here you go.”
“One more.” Noodle stepped forwards, “My parents, scientists, the ones working on the Huff.”
Alvin scratched his head for a moment, “Let me see, oh, the Anthro-Cats working on the heal all? I’m terribly sorry to have to inform you. During the riots, they tried to break out, attacking some of my men.”
Noodle went stiff, just staring at the man in front of her.
“We had to terminate them, but as, their work won’t go for not. I’ve downloaded all their data right here.” He tapped his breast pocket, “They will live long after their deaths, healing countless others, if they can afford it, that is.”
Boom.
Alvin’s head exploded into a pulp as bullets raked against his body. Noodle held down the trigger until it clicked empty. Her face unchanged. The rest of the corpo goons dove for their guns. We didn’t let them get back up.
We stood there, unhappy about gunning down unarmed men, even if they did try to kill us. It wasn’t something fun. Noodle walked up to the computer and typed away until a cell opened up.
Uwu put his hand on my shoulder, “I got this one. You go see if Gabriel is in that cell. We better hope he is, or we’re fucked.” He tapped my shoulder and followed Noodle away.
I took a deep breath, readying my gun. The cell was just a few feet away now. I stepped up to the door and aimed inside.
