Chapter 21 Magic Classification

"Children, you enter the magic academy out of your love and pursuit of magic!" Sugs said, "But first, you must understand what magic is. You, tell me, what is magic?" He pointed his finger at a boy in the front row.

The boy, fttered and startled, stuttered, "Magic is... it is a kind of miraculous power possessed by magicians."

Sugs: "Wrong! Magic is a power borrowed by magicians from gods, not something magicians own!... Let me ask this student!" With a stretch of his hand, another student's hand two yards away suddenly raised. Seeing the eyes around him, his face was panic-stricken, and Sugs smiled, "Don't be afraid, it was me who made you raise your hand."

Rope of Wind! This is also an application of wind magic! It was Sugs who used Rope of Wind to lift the student's hand, his voice also coming like the wind: "Now you tell me, what are magic elements?"

"Magic elements are... they are messengers of the gods, a way to communicate with gods!" The student answered after thinking.

"Correct!" Sugs: "Magic elements are the messengers of gods, the only way for magicians to communicate with gods. To borrow the power of gods, one must respect magic elements, and to make magic elements serve their role as messengers, one must learn to summon with spells, just as magic elements are the only way to communicate with gods, spells are the only way to communicate with magic elements..."

The first css was a basic theory css, not about teaching skills or spells, but everyone was silent, knowing the special significance of this css being taught by the dean himself. Only Liu Sen was full of confusion. His main reason for coming here was because of the magic elements within him. He wanted to unravel the mystery of these magic elements, to understand why he could access the power of magic elements without spells, and to figure out what other functions these magic elements might have that were not yet developed.

But the dean's first lecture had him puzzled, his several uses of "the only" clearly excluding the possibility of the questions he wanted to ask. What was going on? Could it be that even the dean couldn't solve the strange phenomena happening to him?

His mind a mess, he somewhat tuned out the dean's words, until suddenly, his hand involuntarily shot up. Liu Sen was slightly startled; involuntary raising of hands was the dean's unique way of showing interest!

He fully recovered his senses, the dean had actually floated up to him, slowly drifting through the air, as students around made way, and slowly descended in front of Liu Sen: "This student, you haven't been listening to my lecture!"

Impressive! He even knew when someone was zoning out. Liu Sen quickly bowed slightly: "Dean sir, your magic lecture is very profound, I was momentarily engrossed, please forgive me!"

"What you should do is take notes, not try to understand all the principles at this moment!" the dean said: "No one can understand everything all at once, and I don't expect you to understand everything now. You need to know that you will spend several years at the magic academy, and exploring magic is a lifelong career for you!"

  "Yes!" Liu Sen replied respectfully.

"You all know the wonder of magic, and you have learned a bit about the power of magic, but you need to know that communicating with magic elements relies on spells. However, spells are just the key to the entrance, and the level of magic cultivation depends on affinity with elements. So, in your future csses, there is only one homework: meditation! Spend as much time as possible with magic elements, as this is the only way to strengthen element affinity!..."

This speech came from above, making it difficult for Liu Sen not to listen. Homework is just sitting on the ground with eyes closed in meditation? Whether one does it or not, no one asks, it's easy but also incredibly dull.

"Magicians are lonely, so high-level magicians are often reclusive, their only friend in life being magic elements. But don't underestimate this loneliness; it's what all magicians dream of. If you can make magic elements see you as a friend, you have reached a great achievement!"

Everyone bowed in unison, showing understanding.

The dean smiled slightly: "This student, do you think you missed anything?" referring to Liu Sen, seeming to pn to fill him in, truly a responsible dean.

"The dean expined very clearly, but... may I ask a question?"

  "Ask!"

Liu Sen pondered for a moment and said: "Dean, are spells really the only way to summon magic elements? Can't they be summoned through other means?"

The dean's face suddenly darkened, and he coldly raised his palm. Liu Sen quickly shut up, his heart pounding. The dean took a deep breath: "It seems you completely missed what I said at the beginning! Respect magic elements! What is respect? It is to honor the only rule set by the gods!... Today is just the first css, I will forgive any words and actions, but if anyone raises such a question again, I will expel them immediately!" He turned and walked away, the crowd parting like water to reveal a wide path, his not-so-tall figure appearing quite imposing.

Liu Sen was embarrassed; a few boys showed a schadenfreude expression, a few girls quietly inquired about the name of this clueless boy. A hand reached out to him, it was a soft arm, with Bosti's quiet voice: "Don't worry, the dean won't mind!"

The dean might truly not mind, it was just a discussion after all. But Liu Sen felt lost. His biggest secret remained unsolved. If the dean heard it again, he would be expelled immediately. If it became known he was an anomaly, already having absorbed magic elements into his body and ordering them to do as he wished, even thinking of using these internal entities to help strengthen his stamina during intimacy with Beth, would he be burned at the stake like heretics in the medieval Europe?

In the academy, his most desired secret turned out to be a forbidden one. Liu Sen looked up at the sliver of sky in the hall, took a long breath, and thought to himself: "If you refuse to unravel it, I will do it myself. One day, I'll surprise you!"

But whether he could unravel this secret, he had no idea, not even sure if these entities were magic elements. Maybe entering the true hall of magic would crify everything?

The dean slowly flew up under the clear sky, flying higher and higher until he disappeared at the rooftop, the skylight closing behind him. The dean had his own special passage, indeed imposing!

Once the dean left, the fire magic instructor, Kir, waved his hand: "Now, students, go test your magic attributes. Those who already have a magic level don't need to test, just go to the back to verify your level, and be cssified according to your magic type and current level!"

Liu Sen followed the crowd out, dispirited, hearing Bosti's voice: "What's wrong? Got scolded and now you're like this? You too, thinking of summoning sacred magic elements through other means, how disrespectful to the magic elements..."

"Come on, the magic elements aren't your dad, to have you defend them!" Liu Sen retorted irritably: "You're the same, clearly of the earth element, yet thinking of switching to another, equally disrespectful to earth magic elements..."

"It was you who said that!" Bosti gred at him: "You said, switch one after another!"

The two faced off like fighting cocks, finally bursting into ughter, leaving the matter unmentioned, and walked side by side to the backfield, the pce for testing magic levels. As for attributes, Liu Sen was too zy to test. After all, the strange entities inside him, even if not wind magic elements, could be inner strength, qigong, energy, or a nerve mutation, certainly not other magic elements. As for Bosti, she was naturally of the earth element, having struggled to reach the fourth level of magic standard, naturally, she wouldn't let her previous achievements go to waste. If she switched, she might never reach this level again, mentioning switching was just a joke.

The backfield was actually a vast square, divided into four quadrants: earth, fire, water, wind, each supervised by an instructor. Liu Sen headed to the wind quadrant, where already more than twenty people were waiting. Within three days, dozens of wind students had been recruited (some still testing attributes and not present). Apart from the dark and light elements, which only had a few individuals, other elements also had dozens of people, showing the school's prestige.

Quietly queuing, with the resonant chanting of a wind summoning spell, leaves stirred slightly. A male student waved his hand, shooting a small wind bde towards a bck pilr in front, making a hissing sound.

"Fourth-level magician!" said a short instructor, despite his height, his hair impeccably combed, quite stylish, pointing to the back: "Record it, fourth (U) css, Saldo!... Next!"

The next was a girl, chanting for a long time before a breeze finally blew. Sweat appeared on her face, she stood still, not firing a wind bde. The instructor smiled slightly: "Out (AS) css, Jili! No worries, take your time, you'll be able to shoot next year!"

"Thank you... Mr. Reynos, ah... thank you, instructor!" The girl blushed and ran off.

"Can I ask how the grading works?" Liu Sen turned to ask a boy behind him, rather thin.

The boy replied: "You enter the css corresponding to your magic level, like Saldo just now, he's a fourth-level magician, so he enters the fourth level. The subsequent order is based on the sequence of arrival. The 'Out' level means not having a magic level yet, until you improve, you can enter the fifth level!"

"Got it, thanks!" Liu Sen turned back, unsure of his own magic level. Initially, it was fourth level, but he had defeated two first-level swordsmen. If the distinction between swordsmen and magicians corresponded, his level was debatable. However, defeating two first-level swordsmen wasn't solely through magic; his magic was used to make the opponents underestimate him, allowing him to cut their hands and then break their bones with a punch unimaginable to a magician. How does one cssify such magic?

Should there be a special css just to teach this kind of monster?

It was his turn, Liu Sen chanted loudly, generating a breeze under his feet while chanting, scattering the leaves on the ground. His wind bde shot out, hitting the pilr accurately, making a hissing sound.

He didn't hold back this time (except for concealing the absence of chanting), and after firing, the instructor merely gnced: "Not bad, fourth-level magician! Record, Liu Sen, fourth (U) css!"

  He noticed nothing unusual!

But those around him already cast envious gnces. A fourth-level magician was already a remarkable achievement for a new student. The majority had no level at all, evident from the numbering – other levels had single letters, while the 'Out' level had two letters, obviously running out of single letters.
