Why does he want to duel me?
I ask him to figure this out, “why do you want to duel me?”
He answers, “beastmen have strength greater than most, you must prove your worth through your best trait.”
Elowyn just shakes her head.
I guess beastmen have greater strength than humans or other species.
I guess I could easily beat him.
Or maybe I just tell them I’m a god and they’ll want me in their party… probably.
Or maybe they’d get zy and compcent.
I have an idea.
“I’ll duel you, but might I have the chance to pray for me to win?”
Elowyn looks at me curiously for some reason, but Hercle nods.
“You may.”
This idea is great.
I get down in a praying position and start.
“Oh god who I worship, grant me the strength of mountains, grace of… something very graceful, and something else.”
Durn ughs as I get through that, “that is a very devout prayer, what god wouldn’t help given such a devout and specific prayer.”
This next part is going to shock them.
I make what appears to be a shooting star fly from the sky and strike me.
They all look dumbfounded, because this is the st thing they expected.
This is all kind of childish, but I gotta answer my own prayer to myself.
I project all that I asked for, along with winner of all duels.
A major cheat, but the best way.
I don’t think that they’ll want to duel me, but in case.
I look at Hercle, “let’s duel” I say.
It was easy.
Hercle surrendered and said that it is the will of the gods that I join them.
I guess it is, technically.
Just not their gods.
I kind of wanted to see what would happen if I punched Hercle with my full strength.
I would have made him temporarily invulnerable, but how far could I punch him.
Whatever, but now they are all looking at me with a bit of fear.
But Elowyn still has a look of curiosity in her eyes.
I ask them all, “so, what have you been up to the st few hours”.
Durn answers with an accusatory tone, “why the st few hours.”
I look at him and then quickly away, “no reason.”
Then I ask them, “so, what do adventurers typically do?”
Hercle responds, “adventure.”
…
No more?
Surely there is more to it than that, so I ask “is there anything else?”
He shakes his head, but Elowyn responds, “we typically look for treasures or take on the odd job. We adventure as the name implies, but adventuring doesn’t pay by itself.”
This groups is kind of, I don’t know.
Typical fantasy group?
Kind of boring.
But you know what isn’t?
A cult!
I ask them, “do you want to spread the cult- I mean religion of the god who I serve?”
Elowyn kind of answers, “maybe, who is your god? I am curious, as beastmen don’t usually worship many gods.”
Oh, then what do they worship?
Nature itself? Or perhaps something else.
Also, what do I say? I can’t just say Asterios, they know my name already!
Or I could, there is no reason not to.
Except, what if other gods do exist? This is a world of magic, so maybe they do!
I could just say that I am named after the God Asterios!
“My Gods name is Asterios! I am named after him!”
Very direct and straight to the point, clear up all confusion before it comes up.
Elowyn looks confused and says, “I know of no Asterios, and being named after a god might be considered heresy.”
I answer, “I’m not changing my name, and my God doesn’t care that I’m named Asterios. My God must approve of all those named like him.”
She then asks, “what is he the god of?”
What? I guess Gods here are the God of something.
Hmm… what to say.
I’ll just come up with something vague.
“I don’t know, nothing? A lot of things? He’s a… jack of all trades type.”
“Yeah…” she says.
We start walking towards somepce, probably a town or city.
