The Chains of Fate

Xu Wang sat on the edge of his bed, his hands clenching the rough fabric of his robes. The familiar glow of the system window shimmered before him. It had returned, restoring his connection to power.

  > SYSTEM REINSTALLING… CONDITIONS MET.

  > SYSTEM ACCESS GRANTED.

He exhaled sharply. It felt different this time. The warmth of his Qi, the way his body responded—it wasn’t just recovery. It was transformation.

Wang Li sat beside him, watching closely. "Xu Wang, you’re awake," she said softly, relief evident in her voice.

Mei Ling, still wrapped in bandages, sat across from them with her arms crossed. "Took you long enough," she muttered, though her eyes betrayed her concern.

Xu Wang managed a smile. "I guess I don’t go down that easily."

Wang Li leaned in, her fingers brushing against his hand. "You scared me. When I saw you like that, I—" She stopped, biting her lip.

Mei Ling’s gaze flickered between them. She shifted uncomfortably, before clearing her throat. "Well, you're back now. Try not to die again."

Before Xu Wang could respond, a knock on the door interrupted them.

Yang Shen stepped inside, his sharp gaze sweeping over Xu Wang. He studied him for a long moment, his expression unreadable. Then, he spoke.

"How are your wounds completely healed?" His voice was calm, but ced with suspicion. "Even a Qi master wouldn’t recover that fast."

Xu Wang felt a chill run down his spine.

  _"I can’t tell anyone about the system…"_

He forced his expression to remain neutral. "I… don’t know."

Yang Shen narrowed his eyes. Then, unexpectedly, he smiled. "You really are an interesting one."

Without another word, he turned toward the door. "Come with me. It’s time you learn what it takes to survive in this world."

  ---

  Training with Yang Shen

The training ground was empty save for them. The night air was cool, and the moon cast long shadows over the stone courtyard.

Yang Shen stood with his hands behind his back. "Strength alone won’t save you. If you want to control your fate, you must first control your Qi."

Xu Wang nodded. He called forth the system window in his mind.

  > [Distribute Attribute Points]

  > - Strength: 4 → 5

  > - Agility: 3 → 4

  > - Stamina: 6 → 7

  > - Remaining Points: 1

A familiar warmth spread through his body. He clenched his fists, feeling the newfound power coursing through his veins.

Yang Shen observed him carefully. "You’re learning fast, but you ck something crucial—control. Without a strong core, all the Qi in the world won’t matter."

He gestured for Xu Wang to sit. "Close your eyes. Focus inward. Feel the surrounding aura and let it strengthen your core."

Xu Wang did as instructed. He slowed his breathing, reaching out with his senses.

  Nothing.

He frowned. The energy was there—he could feel it—but he couldn’t draw it in. It was like trying to grasp water with his bare hands.

Yang Shen watched him struggle. "It won’t happen overnight. Your body has been through too much. You need rest before you push forward."

Xu Wang gritted his teeth but nodded.

"You’re dismissed," Yang Shen said. "But tomorrow, we train harder."

  A Walk in the Moonlight

Back at the guest quarters, Mei Ling had already fallen asleep, her breathing soft and steady.

Xu Wang sat at the window, staring at the moon. Wang Li approached him quietly.

"Come with me," she whispered, taking his hand.

They stepped out into the cool night, wandering through the narrow streets of the Yang Cn’s stronghold. The vilge was quiet, save for the distant sounds of patrolling guards.

Wang Li clung to his arm, resting her head against him. "Xu Wang… I have a bad feeling about this pce," she murmured. "We need to leave soon."

Xu Wang frowned. "You think we’re in danger?"

"I don’t know," she admitted. "But something isn’t right. This pce isn’t as good as it seems. We should talk to Yang Rui—maybe she’ll come with us."

Xu Wang sighed. "You’re right. We can’t trust them completely. And right now, I’m not strong enough to protect both of you."

Wang Li stopped walking and turned to face him. "Don’t say that," she said firmly. "You’ve already saved me once. You’ll do it again if you have to."

Xu Wang stared at her, feeling the warmth in her gaze.

She suddenly grabbed his hand. "Come on," she said, pulling him toward a small side street.

He hesitated. "Wang Li, someone might see us."

She smirked. "Then we’ll just have to be careful."

She pulled him into the shadows, pressing herself against him. Her fingers traced along his wrist, sending a shiver down his spine.

"You’re always thinking about others," she whispered. "Just for a moment… think about yourself."

Xu Wang swallowed hard. She was close—too close.

Before he could respond, she leaned in and kissed him.

A warmth spread through his chest as he returned the kiss. The world around them faded, leaving only the quiet night and the soft rhythm of their breathing.

After a long moment, she pulled away, her cheeks flushed. "See? You feel better now."

  Xu Wang chuckled. "You’re impossible."

She grinned. "And you love it."

The night wrapped around them like a secret, their quiet gasps and soft sighs lost in the rustling wind. Time blurred, and for once, there was no prophecy, no battles, no looming threats—only them.

When they finally emerged from the alleyway, their fingers remained entwined.

Hand in hand, they made their way back to the guest quarters, unaware that someone was watching from the rooftops.

  A Shadow in the Dark

Deep within the Yang Cn’s estate, a lone candle flickered in a dark chamber.

The Yang Cn Leader sat in silence, his face hidden in the shadows. Before him, a kneeling servant whispered something in hushed tones.

The leader’s lips curled into a smile.

"Oh?" His voice was calm, yet ced with intrigue. "So… it seems we have three very interesting guests."

  The candlelight flickered.

  And then—darkness consumed the room.
