I have barely walked out the door when I run into Brightfire who was also looking for me. I don’t say anything, despite the relief evident on her face, and just open a gate to the castle. When we arrive we find Lin and Mercy chatting in the main room, but they go silent when they see us.

  Lin says “Welcome back, Ash. Welcome to the family, Brightfire.”

  Brightfire blushes and says “Thank you!”

  Lin says “Ash, you look like you have something on your mind?”

  “A couple of things actually. First, I need to teach you about enchantments. We can talk about the rest later.”

  Lin says “Alright. Mercy, why don’t you and Brightfire get to know each other. You can also tell her what I told you.”

  That phrase should totally make me nervous, but I am fine since I already predicted it. Mercy takes Brightfire with her and I sit down with Lin to teach her tricks for enchanting. Lin is a genius when it comes to magic, she picks up everything I teach her the first time.

  Lin says “Alright, I am pretty sure that I can make what you want now. Thank you.”

  “Don’t thank me for this, you have taught me far more about magic.”

  Lin says “Alright, I won’t argue with you. So, what else did you need to talk to me about?”

  “Oh, right. Did you make any progress on the spell to check potential?”

  Lin says “Yes, I did make some, but you aren’t going to be happy. Even with everything that I managed to improve, I don’t think you have enough mana to cast the spell.”

  “That’s fine, I have the crystals if I need them. Or I can convert it into an enchantment and add it to the system.”

  Lin says “How would it even work as an enchantment?”

  “Well, the high mana cost is because it has to read someone’s potential all at once. If I add it to the system and have it scan people a little bit at a time, it should greatly reduce the cost. At least, that is the theory that I came up with.”

  Lin says “I have no idea if that will work. I never even thought of spreading the process out like that.”

  “I’m not sure if it will work, but I think it has a good chance to.”

  Lin says “Alright, well here is the modified spell. Let me know how it goes. Anything else you wanted to talk to me about?”

  “Yes. I am thinking that after the wedding we will take the castle to a nice tropical island and relax for a few days or so.”

  Lin says “That sounds like a great idea!”

  “Glad you like it. What I wanted to ask is if you want to invite Bella?”

  Lin says “Yes! Definitely!”

  “Okay. Then you need to discuss it with the others and if they are fine with it you can invite her.”

  Lin says “Sure, I can do that. Anything else?”

  “No, I don’t think so. I am sorry to keep you from the library for so long.”

  Lin says “It’s okay, it’s not like the library is going anywhere. I will be able to go back once things calm down.”

  “You think things will calm down? I hope you are right!”

  Lin says “Well, things will calm down for me, but you don’t have much to hope for. Even if things try to calm down, you will just find more things to do.”

  “Thanks, that makes me feel so much better!”

  Lin says “Don’t blame me, blame your curiosity!”

  “That’s totally unfair!”

  Lin says “Who told you that it would be fair? Now, I have work to do and I can’t do it with you around. So, if there is nothing else you need, go do something else.”

  “Fine, I have some crafting to do anyway.”

  Lin says “I still love you, so don’t sulk.”

  I give Lin a passionate kiss to let her know I am not mad and then head to my workshop. Once there, I take my crown off and spend some time studying the enchantments. There are a few that I still haven’t figured out, the ones that deal with the crown projecting emotions and power.

  However, I don’t plan to mess with those, I just need to redo a few of the others to make room. The enchantment to add system access isn’t very big so I only need a little extra space. A couple of the current enchantments have matching parts, so I am hoping that combining them will give me enough room.

  I don’t want to have to modify the crown physically since that could mess up the enchantments. Since I don’t understand all of them I am not confident in being able to repair them if I mess them up. In order to not find out, I am very careful as I start modifying the existing enchantments.

  Luckily, I am good enough with enchantments at this point that I don’t make any mistakes. Even better, my plan actually works and enough room is created for me to add the system enchantment. As soon as it is done I test it out and because I have the highest authority I am able to see everything.

  This includes being able to read the messages that others have sent and received. Of course, considering that it is just being tested, no one has really said much for me to read. I send everyone a message so that they know they can now reach me through the messenger and then put my crown back on.

  With that done, I sort through my materials and take out the most expensive ones I have. I then separate them into four equal piles and start crafting them into crowns for my wives. The biggest problem I run into with crafting them is making them look feminine enough.

  I am no expert by any means, I just do the best that I can and hope that it is good enough. My biggest concern is making sure that there is enough mana capacity for all of the enchantments. I am hoping to have enough to try and copy all of the enchantments from my crown, but it doesn’t end up that way.

  I don’t know what my crown is made of, but my best materials don’t come close to matching its capacity. The crowns that I made barely have half the capacity of my crown, quite disappointing. However, if I take out the enchantments I don’t understand, there is enough room for the rest.

  That will have to do, but after adding the enchantments I find that I have a little room left. Considering I am not happy with how the crowns look, I decide to use that extra room to add shapeshifting. This way the girls can make the crowns look like whatever they want and even match them to outfits.

  I figure that the girls will appreciate that a lot more than any other enchantment that I could add. In fact, it makes me wish my crown had more room so that I could add shapeshifting to it as well. There are times when I would like to have the benefits from the crown without it being so obvious.
