TBE Chapter 36
Ezekiel and his two brothers were enjoying their lunch when he told them that they would be visiting the school after.
“Why are we going there?” Robert curiously asked.
“I will enroll you guys there. It’s important for you to learn and to form friends your age. Do you know how to get there?”
“Yes I know but we don’t need to go there. You’re learning from Mr. Duvon and once you know stuff, you can teach it to us. The school cost a lot of coins!”
“We have enough coins so you don’t need to worry about that.”
After eating, they rode their cart pulled by Prince Charming and headed towards the vilge school. When they arrived there, Ezekiel found the school charming, like something from an anime, and hoped that his brothers would be happy studying there. It was a two-story rge house.
They tied Prince Charming to a nearby pole, went to the door, and knocked. An old man who looked the same age as Mr. Duvon opened the door.
“Good afternoon, Sir. My name is Zeke and these are my brothers Robert and Luke. I’m Mr. Duvon’s student and I came here to inquire about enrolling my brothers in the school.”
“I know you young Zeke. When I visited Norman, he spoke well of you. He said that even though you haven’t had any education before, you’re very polite with the manners of a young aristocrat. Not only that, he said that you learned fast enough that if you were his son, he would have started pnning to send you to the university. I’m Mateo Rengold, the principal of this school but mostly it was because I own this house. Come in, we’ll talk inside.”
The man who said he was the principal of the school led the three brothers to some sort of office. After they all sat down, their discussion began. Ezekiel was gd that Robert and Luke were sitting beside him quietly.
“Now the start of the school year would start in five days and would st for three months. To enroll your brothers, it will cost you 1 gold for each of them so that will be a total of 2 cold coins. It’s steep but I hired my teachers from the city and I made sure that they teach well,” Mr. Rengold said.
“I can afford it Mr. Rengold. I just want to know if my brothers will be safe here in school. As you know, my mother was viewed by some of the vilgers with superstitious nonsense and because of that, I’m afraid that the teachers and their cssmates would not treat them well.”
“You don’t need to worry about that from the teachers since all of them came from the city and they didn’t know the history of the vilgers so they’re not aware of your mother’s situation. Even if they heard gossip regarding that, they would look down on the people sharing that information as gossip mongers and would disregard anything they would hear. Regarding the other students, I’m not sure if you’re aware of how mean children could be but the majority of their time here would be inside the cssroom anyway learning and they would only need to spend their time with their cssmates during lunch for an hour or after school and they could always hurry home after.”
“Do you need me to purchase books and uniforms for the kids?” Ezekiel asked and the man ughed.
“You looked like a kid yourself but sounded like a responsible parent. The contrast is a bit humorous and I apologize for ughing. You don’t need to purchase books or uniforms. The books will be included in their tuition and they could wear whatever they wanted as long as they’re presentable. What your brothers are wearing right now is actually well made and the material looked expensive so that kind of clothes will be enough. You will need to pack them their lunch every day though,” Mr. Rengold said.
Ezekiel paid the man 2 gold coins and was informed that his brothers were expected to arrive at exactly eight in the morning the next Monday.
“Is it all right for them to carry their backpacks to school?” Ezekiel continued talking to the principal and asked Robert to show the man his backpack.
“This bag is truly well-made and because of how it’s made, a child could carry it easily on his or her back. You call it a backpack? It’s ingenious. I’ll probably ask somebody to copy the design is that all right with you?”
Ezekiel nodded then the man opened the bag and checked the contents.
“Where do these books and coloring pens come from?”
“I don’t know. It’s from some sort of traveling merchants that I met near the forest that I traded for a couple of boars.” Ezekiel lied with a straight face.
Suddenly Luke shouted “Magic!” which made him a bit nervous but the principal just smiled at Luke indulgently.
The principal examined the coloring books and the crayons extensively but after a while, he returned them inside the bag. Ezekiel almost ughed when he saw his brother nervously eyeing the man as if Robert thought that the principal would snatch his things.
After that, the principal wrote Robert and Luke’s names in some sort of ledger and reminded Anton to bring his brothers on the first day of the school year.
Ezekiel and his two brothers said goodbye to the principal and went out of the school. He pnned to go to the market to check out the clothes that his two brothers should be wearing to school. He would be his brothers a set each then look for a copy in his system shopping site.
They went to the market and looked for a shop that sells clothes for young boys. Ezekiel found the shop and inside, he asked for assistance from the merchant.
“My brothers are going to school on Monday. Can you show us a set of clothes including shoes that they can wear to school?”
The man looked at Ezekiel’s brothers and when he saw that the boys were wearing good clothes, the merchant happily assisted them.
Ezekiel wondered why the time, days, and months were called the same but he was guessing that it was just the transtion magic that was provided to him by his system when he transmigrated to this world. He would only know the details once he learned the actual history of his new world.
There were so many illogical things that his magic and his system were doing that if he thought deeply about them, Ezekiel knew that it would lead him to a rabbit’s hole so deep there was no getting out. Examples were, where did the shit go when he used the Prestidigitation spell to clean his brothers and Prince Charming’s excrements. Did the magic conjure them away or annihite them to extremely small particles? What about where the materials for the Galder’s Tower came from, did mana just rearrange itself to form solid matter?
The only thing Ezekiel could do was to accept that it was magic and he wasn’t truly compining. As a matter of fact, he was extremely thankful. Because with his system, he would have the chance to live well with his brothers in this new world and not only that, he had an internet connection. That meant that he would never be bored.
The clothes merchant or tailor or whatever the man was, asked his brothers to stand still on a stand like some kind of mannequin and the merchant with his assistants began dressing the boys. After they were done, Ezekiel was happy to see that Robert and Luke looked like young nobles. They even had some nice-looking hats.
Ezekiel paid the merchant a total of ten silver coins for both sets and now he had 9 Gold 67 Silver and 80 plus Copper Coins.
It was te when the three siblings went home. When they arrived at their houses, the sun was about to set so after Ezekiel fed and watered Prince Charming, he retrieved food from his inventory and the three of them ate dinner.
After dinner, Ezekiel cleaned up everything using his favorite spell including his brothers and their clothes. He also cast Mending on the new clothes just to make sure that everything would look new on their first day of school. Then he cast all the spells that needed to be cast before they slept like Mage Armor for everyone, the Arm spell in front of their houses, and the Galder’s Tower spell to make sure that the spell was renewed.
The snowy owl, Yuki Onna was outside watching over them so the familiar was also a form of security for them. Then he told a bedtime story to the kids and soon they were asleep. Once Ezekiel was sure Robert and Luke were asleep, he stood up and went to the dining room.
He was pnning to prepare Luke’s birthday celebration since it was the kid's 5th birthday the next day. Ezekiel stored all of his woodworking tools and all the wooden materials in his 4th space tab then he purchased different colored balloons and decorated the dining room with them. He also purchased a huge birthday cake that he kept in his 4th tab space to make sure that it would be fresh when he retrieved it tomorrow then he purchased several toys for the kid which were a set of Legos, a model horse, and carriage, a pstic bow and arrow and animal figures. He then wrapped the toys in wrapping paper as a surprise for the kid.
