TBE Chapter 47

  TBE Chapter 47

Ezekiel knew that earning coins selling wood art and small furniture would be slow compared to selling some of the other items that he could purchase from his system shopping site. A good example was salt and spices. As a matter of fact, the majority of gold coins that he had were from selling salt to the spice merchant in Eagle Village market, and was glad that nothing dangerous came bad off the trade.

The merchant probably believed his story about the “pure” salt was the last inheritance that came from his dead parents. But he knew that he couldn’t repeat that action since even though he had the power to defend himself, Ezekiel didn’t want to be bothered because of it. Salt and spices were incredibly costly based on the prices that he had seen in the spice merchant store and it would truly garner attention if he somehow managed to get hold of a huge amount of it.

At least with small wooden art and furniture, his expertise could easily be explained by his father or his mother teaching him and there’s plenty of wood in the forest.

The next day arrived and Ezekiel remembered that this was the start of the fourth day that they left Eagle Village. He was hoping that Norman Duvon would give him a few more days before searching for him since that would allow them to travel very far from the village.

To be honest, Ezekiel wasn’t afraid of any pursuit because if worse came to worse, he would use his magic to defend themselves. He had the mental maturity to injure or even kill those who would want to harm him and his two brothers.

He had already done his part by running away and if Norman Duvon still tried to pursue him and his brothers, he would not feel guilty at all even if he killed all the pursuers.

Ezekiel knew that he was probably assuming the worst. More than likely, even if Norman Duvon were truly interested in pursuing them because of the potions, it wouldn’t be that extensive and they would probably give up since they were far away already. If the old teacher shared the information about the potion, it was going to be very difficult to believe.

After Robert and Luke went to the washroom to do their business, Ezekiel did his and then made sure that they were all clean using the Prestidigitation spell. He then prepared breakfast for them. Funny enough, Luke still kept reminding him of their vitamins.

Ezekiel had an inkling that the young Luke loved his praises which was why the young boy always reminded them of the vitamins. That was also the reason why he purposely forgot to bring out the vitamins each day and Robert actually understood enough to join him on that which impressed him since it showed that his brothers were truly intelligent.

After breakfast, Ezekiel went to Prince Charming's stable then fed and watered the donkey. He also cleaned the donkey using his Prestidigitation spell so it would remain healthy. After he was done taking care of Prince Charming, he hitched the animal to their cart and led it outside the stable then Ezekiel dispelled the Galder’s Towers and all the other spells that he had cast for their night camping.

Before they started their journey, Ezekiel cast the Mage Armor spell on the three of them for safety reasons and then he asked Yuki Onna, his snowy owl familiar, to scout the surrounding area to make sure that they wouldn’t be surprised by anything dangerous. At least with Yuki Onna as his eyes, they could avoid anything dangerous.

During their travel, Yuki Onna communicated to Ezekiel that there was a boar nearby. He decided to hunt it so he could increase his experience points and he would also try to butcher it following a video guide from the most famous streaming site. Ezekiel thought that it was time to learn how to butcher animals since it was a practical survival skill that anyone should learn.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

He knew that he could always purchase food from his system shopping site but he thought that it was still important for Ezekiel to learn the skill. He stopped the cart and told his brothers that there was a nearby boar that he was planning to hunt. It was only nearby so it shouldn’t take long and his brothers agreed to wait on the cart. Of course, before he left, he cast the Tiny Servant spell on their wooden block so the boys would be entertained while he was hunting the boar.

The boar wasn’t far from the road. Ezekiel threw a stick at the animal to make sure that the boar’s aggression focused on him. He didn’t want to miss out on experience points due to some technicality.

He assumed that it was going to be difficult to increase his experience points from then since Ezekiel got an inkling that the reason why he reached level three with ease was because of “Achievements”. His system panel in the first tab did inform him that experience points could be garnered from killing aggressive beings towards him and achievements that he reached.

From what he knew of “Achievements” came from gaming and reading web novels. He knew that it was supposed to be reaching a milestone like the first small enemy killed or the first medium enemy killed or the first time using a spell, things like that. He thought again of the fact that it was a pity that there was no chat panel that showed him where the experience came from. He tried voicing it out and even praying for it but it never appeared so he just accepted it.

The boar noticed him due to the stick that Ezekiel had thrown and as expected, the boar rushed to attack him. Ezekiel cast his Magic Missile spell and aimed it at the animal’s head. The boar’s head exploded with just one cast of the spell slotted at the cantrip slot and the three magic missiles hit the boar’s head which meant that even at the cantrip level, his spells were powerful enough.

Ezekiel then stored the boar’s corpse in his 4th tab space and returned to their cart. The two boys were still playing with the wooden blocks awakened by the Tiny Servant spell but then he interrupted them and told them that it was time for them to continue their journey.

“How many boars did you kill?” Robert asked.

“There was only one boar nearby.”

He checked how many experience points he earned and as expected, it was only one experience point but to be honest, it was still more than what he expected. He thought that a single boar wouldn’t give him experience points anymore. His total experience point was 2 percent till level 4.

Ezekiel knew that if he dedicated his time and effort to level up, it would be very easy. He would just need to roam the forest and kill all the aggressive animals that he encountered even if they only provided a small amount of experience. But there was no need to do something like that. Even at level 3, he was powerful enough since he hadn’t encountered any magical beings yet.

He knew that he should be preparing himself for the time that he would encounter one but he didn’t want to become a butcher, just killing animals for the sake of power. He was a goody-two-shoes person even with the characters that he made when he played Dungeon and Dragons Role Playing tabletop games with his friends or even the characters that he made playing computer games. Ezekiel was thankful that this world so far was peaceful enough that he didn’t need to force himself to become like those manhwa butcher protagonists.

While they were traveling, the three of them saw some farmhouses yonder and that meant that a village was nearby.

“Are we going to stop in that village?” Robert asked when they saw the fairly large village in the distance.

“No. As you know, all three of us are very young and there is a chance that those villagers would question where we came from. They might even try to force us to stay and send someone to Eagle Village. I haven’t told you both yet why we left immediately. I cured Mr. Duvon of his sickness and he planned to sell my magic to a rich noble somewhere. So instead of fighting, it would be better for us to just leave so from now on, please don’t tell anyone about my magic.”

Ezekiel saw that the two boys became angry when they heard that his teacher betrayed them and they became sad so he stopped the cart and embraced the boys.

“You don’t need to worry about the Eagle Village. We’ll find a place where people will love us and accept us. I’ll pretend that I’m an ordinary wood crafter and the people will buy my products and then we’ll have enough coins so I can enroll you both in a nice school and since the people from the place where we will stay don’t know us, they will accept you and play with you both,” Ezekiel assured his brothers.
