TBE Chapter 48

  Ezekiel explained to both Robert and Luke that it might take a while for them to find a place where they could stay so they had to prepare themselves for the idea that they would have to stay on the road for a while.

  “It’s okay brother. As long as we're together, that is where our family is,” Robert said then he went back to playing with the Tiny Servant wooden blocks together with Luke.

  What Robert had said touched him and Ezekiel knew that his brother was right. As long as the three of them stayed together, that was where their home was. It was even more convenient since because of his magic, the three of them could even stay in a comfortable and warm house every night and they had all the delicious food they could eat.

  They stopped for a bit during lunchtime and Ezekiel fed and watered Prince Charming. He decided to learn butchering when they stopped for the night that day so he commanded Yuki Onna to find him a fowl in the woods that he could butcher first before tackling the difficult boar meat.

  After a while, Yuki Onna reported to Ezekiel that it sighted a couple of pheasant nearby so Ezekiel stopped the cart for a bit and told his brother that there were a couple of birds that he wanted to hunt so he could practice butchering animals. Robert just nodded and his two brothers continued playing with their toys.

  Ezekiel wasn’t worried about the boys since Yuki Onna would keep an eye on them and he did cast the Mage Armor spell on the three of them before leaving their campsite early that morning.

  Also, even though the Tiny Servants were small, they could still delay any enemies that could approach the boys.

  Ezekiel cast the third-level spell Fly and decided to fly where the pheasants were loitering. He saw the birds eating blueberries from a blueberry bush so he landed from his flight and then cast a Magic Missile spell slotted on a cantrip slot. Two of the glowing bolts hit one of the pheasant’s head and the third one hit the second one and that was enough to kill the birds. He knew that the pheasants would not provide any experience points so he didn’t bother to check the tab where the experience points were located. He stored the pheasants' bodies on his 4th tab space and then flew back to where the cart was parked.

  It didn’t even take Ezekiel ten minutes to complete his side quest of killing the birds so they continued on their travel. He laughed at himself for thinking of killing harmless pheasants as a side quest.

  At around five in the afternoon, Ezekiel guided Prince Charming to walk inside the forest near the road since he planned to cast the Galder’s Tower spell and create four houses for them to stay the night. He didn’t want the houses to be noticeable in the road but he knew that it was a futile thought since the towers did have lights that were noticeable in the distance.

  Ezekiel was hoping that the foliage and trees would be enough to obscure the Galder’s Towers. It wasn’t truly a problem if travelers saw the houses but it he knew that he would have to face questions regarding where the houses came from. Of course, he could still just say that they found them in the forest but the towers were obviously well-maintained. Thinking about that problem was making his head hurt so he decided to just ignore it and if somebody did disturb them, he would just face that problem when it occurred.

  The funny thing was, if Ezekiel claimed that they found the houses in the forest, once they leave, the travelers might claim them as their own but it would be very funny to see what their reaction would be once the houses disappeared due to the spell duration ending.

  When they arrived at a passable clearing, Ezekiel cast four one-story Galder’s Tower slotted at the 2nd level spell slots. He cast two of them first but he needed to wait for 3 minutes for the slots’ cooldown to be over before he could cast two more. One of the houses would be their bedroom, the other was the washroom, the third one was the dining room cum kitchen, and the last one was the stable for Prince Charming.

  Normally, he would only cast three Galder’s Towers but he wanted to use the kitchen for his butchering lesson idea.

  After parking the cart and Prince Charming in the stable, he watered and fed the donkey and told his brothers that they could only play within the four houses and not outside. The boys understood and started playing with Prince Charming.

  When Ezekiel went outside, he cast the Alarm Spell and the Arcane Lock spell towards the houses. Since the cooldown was very fast, he decided to cast the Glyph Warding spell as well partnered with the spell Sleep.

  He knew that it was a bit wasteful but what was he really wasting? He didn’t even have a mana bar on his first tab panel so that meant that the only thing he was wasting was the cooldown of his spell slots which was short enough.

  Ezekiel knew that even if he thought that he had plenty of spell slots and that the cooldown was short, there may come an instance that it wouldn’t be enough so he also needed to learn to wield some sort of physical weapon. The problem was, even though he had access to the internet, it wasn’t enough for him to learn sword work or knife work so the only thing that he could think of was to learn how to use a bow or better yet a crossbow and when he encountered someone who could teach him a weapon, then he could learn.

  He then thought of which weapon he should learn then he decided to put it in the back of his mind since no one was teaching him yet. He was putting a lot of things in the back of his mind but he couldn’t help it. Ezekiel’s circumstances were difficult due to his body’s age and size and his ignorance of the matter of this world.

  After casting all of the spells that would protect their temporary houses, Ezekiel went inside the kitchen to begin his idea of butchering the pheasants. A quick contact with his familiar informed him that Robert and Luke were inside the washroom playing with water.

  Ezekiel followed the instructions on the video that he was watching. He boiled some water to use to pluck the feathers of the pheasants then he began the process of cleaning the insides of the animals.

  At first, he wanted to vomit since he wasn’t used to seeing the insides of an animal. Just like any person who grew up in a city, when he wanted raw meat to cook, he just needed to go to the market and voila, there they were.

  Ezekiel soldiered on since he knew he needed to get used to it since the larger animals would be much worse than the birds.

  It took him a couple of hours to complete butchering the two pheasants but after he put the cut-up pieces of the birds into a bowl, he marinated them using several spices, he stored them in his 4th tab space to cook at a later time. He then cleaned the kitchen using his Prestidigitation spell.

  He didn’t have any more time or energy to begin cutting up the boar so he decided to do it the next night. He went to the washroom and took a bath and he cleaned his clothes using his prestidigitation spell.

  Robert and Luke were in the bedroom playing. He asked the boys to remove their clothes so he could clean them and then returned the clothes to the boys. They all went to the kitchen to eat one of the stored food in Ezekiel's 4th tab space.

  “Did you learn how to cut up the birds?” Robert asked while they were eating.

  “I did but it would probably be a while before I master butchering animals. Tomorrow night, I will butcher the boar.”

  After dinner, they all went to the bedroom and slept. The next day, they began their journey again after Ezekiel dispelled all the traces that they had been there at that campsite. He made sure to feed, water, and clean Prince Charming. He also made sure that before he dispelled the towers, all three of them were fed and had used the washroom.

  Ezekiel was still a bit paranoid about their bodies and their nutrition so he decided to feed everyone the Healing Elixirs including Prince Charming. There were no reactions from their bodies but he thought that it was still a good idea to be sure.

  He then cast the mage armor spell on the three of them before they left. Ezekiel suddenly wondered if it was beneficial for Prince Charming to be surrounded by the Mage Armor spell as well. Ezekiel made a quick search on the internet and it said that there was a small benefit and since it didn’t cost anything to cast the spell, he cast Mage Armor on their donkey.
