TBE Chapter 65

  Ezekiel told his brothers to remain in the house while he dealt with the bear and the wolves. He then cast Fly and flew near Yuki Onna who were observing the battle between the wounded bear and the seven wolves.

  He was glad to note that the 10 butcher knives Tiny Servants moved fast enough within the forest and soon arrived at the battle location. Ezekiel was hiding with Yuki Onna in the upper branches of one of the trees near the area where the battle was happening. He commanded the 10 butcher knives to attack the wolves.

  At first, the wolves were confused when 10 moving knives appeared and attacked them. It was funny to look at the knives using their heads to attack the wolves. The knives were very agile and unfortunately for the animals, the knives were large enough and sharp enough that they were causing considerable damage to the wolves.

  Soon, the 10 butcher knives killed one of the wolves. Ezekiel decided to hasten the battle completion since he could barely see what was happening due to how dark the night was and the only illumination was the moon so he cast all of the Magic Missiles that he slotted in all of his spell slots.

  The night sky suddenly brightened by the glowing bolts from the Magic Missile spells. The tree where Ezekiel was hiding looked like the center of a firework and for a moment, even Ezekiel paused a bit to admire the beauty of the spell. Soon the glowing bolts hit the heads of all the remaining predators in the area. The 10 butcher knives killed three of the wolves though which highly impressed Ezekiel. He decided that from then on, he would keep five awakened by the Tiny Servant spell and let them remain in the cart to serve as their bodyguards every day.

  Ezekiel immediately checked his experience bar and saw that it climbed by 20 points and now his total experience was 65. Just 35 more experience points and he would reach level 4. He was very excited about that since the 4th level of the Wizard character had very strong spells. It consisted of strong summoning spells and that meant that he could just fly above somewhere high like where he was now and just summon an Elemental, an Aberration, or a Greater Demon to fight his enemies.

  Not only that, the 4th level also consisted of a very strong area of effect spells like the Ice Storm spell. Looking at the list of spells Ezekiel could learn once he reached level 4 was making his blood boil and if he were back at that village where the haunted mansion was located, he wouldn’t hesitate to battle it out with the beings there if he was level 4.

  Ezekiel commanded the 10 butcher knives to return to their temporary home. At first, he thought of butchering the wolves and the bear, and even though their pelts were valuable, he wasn’t experienced enough to skin all of the animals without damaging them and since the meat was inedible as far as he was concerned, Ezekiel decided to leave the corpses for the forest’s scavengers.

  He cast the Fly spell again then he flew back to where his Galder’s Towers were located which was nearby. When he arrived there, he saw that the 10 butcher knives were lying down like ordinary tools by the door so he cleaned them using his Prestidigitation spell then Ezekiel entered the bedroom.

  “What happened?” Robert asked when they saw him enter.

  “Seven wolves were attacking a wounded huge bear. They’re all gone now so let’s go to sleep.”

  “Did you kill them all?”

  Ezekiel simply nodded and insisted for the boys to sleep. While he was tucking them in, Luke suddenly asked him a question.

  “Why did the wolves and the bear have to die?”

  He carefully thought of what he was going to tell his youngest brother since he didn’t want to traumatize the kid.

  “They were wild and savage animals. Although it was their nature, unfortunately, they were very near and there was a chance that they might attack us so I decided to make sure that we were safe and killed them all. You have to remember you and Robert are the most important persons in my life and I will make sure that you’re safe, okay?”

  Luke smiled and nodded then waited for him. He wondered why then he remembered that he was supposed to read them a bedtime story so Ezekiel briefly searched the Internet for a good bedtime story and then read it to his two brothers who were soon asleep.

  After Robert and Luke were asleep, Ezekiel read the spells that would be available to him once he reached the 4th level. Some of the spells truly excited him like the spell Fabricate. It stated that the quality of the items that he would be able to create through the spell was based on the quality of the materials used and the mastery of the spellcaster’s craftmanship on a specific craft. In his case, since he was aiming to become a master wood crafter, once he mastered the craft, he could just use the Fabricate spell to create items that he already created before if he had the raw materials. That would save him a lot of time but ultimately, it wasn’t a necessary spell since he did have the system shopping site.

  The most important thing was, that most of the spells in the 4th level were very useful compared to the lower-level spells. Ezekiel hadn’t even bought a lot of spells available to him since he thought that they might not be useful but considering that his spells had a very short cooldown and he could swap them out anytime as long as the slot was not in cooldown mode, it would be advantageous for him to collect all the spells but the lack of funds was stopping him from doing that.

  Ezekiel then wondered if he should buy all of the cantrips and all of the 1st level spells since cantrips only cost 50 copper coins each and all of the 1st level spells only cost 1 silver coin each. Unfortunately, the only spells available to him were the wizard spell list and not the other characters in the Dungeon and Dragons franchise. It would be best if the spells of the other characters were also available to him but he knew that he shouldn’t complain. The fact that he had a system in this dangerous world meant that he had a huge advantage compared to anyone else. He could make sure that his life and the lives of his brothers were safe.

  While Ezekiel was reading the spell list, Yuki Onna informed him that a lot of scavengers were gathering to feast on the dead wolves and the dead bear’s carcasses so he commanded Yuki Onna to make sure to inform him if any of the animals would go near their houses.

  Ezekiel then turned his attention to his 4th tab space. He suddenly felt that six cubic meters was very small since he remembered that just a few dead animals filled them out. That meant that the bear and the seven wolves wouldn’t fit in his 4th tab space if he had decided to carry them. He thought of increasing the size of his 4th tab space but the 7th cubic meter was very costly which was 10 gold coins so he decided to hold off on doing that and would just utilize the cart to store some of the items that they wanted to keep but wouldn’t go bad.

  At that moment, Ezekiel’s inventory was filled with the food that he cooked before and with the wooden arts and crafts that he purchased from the system shopping site to sell as well as his woodworking tools. Fortunately, he cleared out all the meat that was stored there before.

  The next day after breakfast, Ezekiel proceeded with his plan of transferring the items from his 4th tab space that didn’t go bad like all of the wooden arts and crafts and his woodworking tool to the cart. He also stored the extra clothing that he was keeping in the 4th tab space in some of the boxes in the cart.

  After he transferred all the items, Ezekiel tried to see if he could pull the cart by himself since he didn’t want Prince Charming to pull the cart that he could not pull. He easily pulled the cart easily so he felt comfortable asking their donkey to do so. He did have the Phantom Steed spell but it only lasted for an hour and the fact that it looked ghastly was enough for him not to use the spell. If he had the Metamagic feat Extend spell, at least he could double the duration of the spell but unfortunately for some reason, he didn’t have feats and meta magic and wondered, not for the first time, why was that?

  Ezekiel was happy to see that the only items in his 4th tab space were his gold coins both the general ones and the one he was keeping in a small box he was calling his woodworking fund, the food that he cooked before, and Prince Charming’s food.

  Since he now had a lot of space, Ezekiel thought of cooking some more food so they would be readily available whenever the three of them got hungry and would probably spend a day doing that soon.
