TBE Chapter 66

  The day began happily since Robert and Luke were excitedly waiting for the toys that Ezekiel was planning to give them to replace the ones they gave to their friend they had formed in the last village.

  Since Prince Charming was walking steadily, it wasn’t a problem for him to browse for items. While doing so, Ezekiel thought of the haunted house back in the last village. He was hoping that his meddling didn’t awaken whatever was sleeping inside because it would devastate him to know that the village was destroyed because a powerful monster had come out of the mansion. A mansion that he awakened because of his entering it but then again, it stood in that place for decades already and according to the villagers, it was disturbed now and again by some adventurers that promptly disappeared when they entered it despite the many warnings they received.

  Ezekiel did not want to purchase the same things that he did before so he described to his brothers what kind of toys he could get from the system shopping site. That situation became very amusing to him since his brothers became very serious about considering which toys they would buy.

  Robert and Luke were discussing the toys that Ezekiel described with a solemn attitude that he couldn’t help but laugh and when both boys just eyed him briefly and kept on with their discussion, he couldn’t help but laugh some more. Ezekiel immediately hugged and kissed both boys since they were so cute but they fended him off but after saying that he would increase the budget to five silver coins for their toys, they allowed him to kiss and hug them to his heart’s content.

  They stopped briefly during lunchtime so everyone could eat, even Prince Charming, and when everyone was satiated, they continued with their travel. Ezekiel was thankful that the season was the middle of spring so they would have a few months more of good weather and by the time the weather turned for the worse, they would be safely ensconced in the middle of a city. He hoped.

  Ezekiel was glad that they coins that they could spend so they would have enough to spend during one of their stays in villages, towns, or even the city but he knew that the amount was hardly enough. He decided that if they arrived near a village or a town, they would stay the night in the forest and approach the said village or town in the morning. Then they would only spend a day at the said places to sell items to increase their coins and leave before the sun fully sets.

  While Prince Charming was steadily walking on the road, Ezekiel checked the amount of food they had left in his 4th tab space. Based on the number of lunch boxes or what he had been calling their food bentos and Prince Charming’s food, they had about a couple of weeks left for the three of them but he would need to purchase more food for Prince Charming since it would probably only last a couple of more days.

  Ezekiel decided then that they would stay in a single location for the whole day tomorrow so he could spend it on cooking for them. He wanted at least a couple of months of food for them and he would also purchase a couple of months of feed for their donkey.

  During lunch, the boys kept on discussing which toys they wanted and even asked Ezekiel several times about all the options they could choose from. Of course, he had to limit the selection to those that did not include any modern parts like the need for batteries or anything like that. But even without those, the selections were uncountable and he was patient in explaining each one to the boys since in his experience, selecting the toys that wanted to buy was an exciting experience and it allowed him to learn about addition since he had given them a budget of 5 silver coins, they were now holding a notebook and a pen where they lost the toys they were interested in and its price and he was teaching them to add the amount.

  The funny thing was even when they stopped for the night, the boys kept on with their discussion and Ezekiel kept on indulging them with the description of the options they had which there were truly plentiful.

  Ezekiel had to put his foot down though during dinner and told Robert and Luke to concentrate on eating before they went back to their list.

  The Galder’s Towers that Ezekiel conjured were inside a copse of trees near the road and the three houses, he really couldn’t call them towers since they were only one story tall, could be seen immediately by any travelers but Ezekiel didn’t mind it. While they were on the road, they hadn’t seen anyone on the road so more than likely, there wouldn’t be any travelers visiting them.

  He briefly wondered why there we so few people on the road. It was mentioned in the geography book that came from his previous tutor that their village was located in the part of the continent that was sparsely populated but while they were traveling on the road, it sometimes gave off the sense that Ezekiel was in a post-apocalyptic world with no people but with beautiful sceneries and dense forests and because of that contradiction, the post-apocalyptic scenario in his head would be replaced by a world filled with dinosaurs. It was amusing so he entertained himself with those imaginary worlds.

  After dinner, everyone took a bath and after a while Ezekiel was tucking his brothers into sleep, they were still discussing the toys they would ask him to purchase. Ezekiel would add to the chaos by providing several more options to them and that would start the argument all over again but it was fun to see his brothers thinking about which ones they would purchase. He had to stop them though since it was time to sleep. He had to tell them a bedtime story so they could switch their focus from the list of toys that they were thinking of buying to the story that he was telling them and soon they were asleep.

  The next day, it was still dark when Ezekiel woke up, and was a bit happy that nothing disturbed them during the night. To be honest, due to the towers' locations, he was half expecting that someone, like a traveler, would bother them but none came.

  He moved slowly and softly so as not to wake up Robert and Luke then went to the tower that housed the kitchen. As planned, Ezekiel would spend the whole day cooking and putting the dishes in bento boxes so they could eat them conveniently anytime they wanted. He wanted to cook enough food for at least two months and would make sure that the dishes were diverse enough that they wouldn’t get bored with the food.

  Since his 4th tab space could keep the food fresh, at first, Ezekiel wanted to purchase different drinks that they could drink during meals like sodas and juices but decided that he would just stick to cold bottled water since it was healthier and cheaper and he could change its flavor to anything he liked using his Prestidigitation spell. He truly loved that spell.

  He spent a total of 40 coins for all the ingredients that he would use to cook for that day including the additional plastic boxes that he would use to store the food. He spent another 6 silver coins to purchase the feed for Prince Charming for two months and two weeks.

  Most of the food that he planned to cook was food that he had cooked before back on Earth so he was confident that he wouldn’t mess them but he still double-checked the recipes on the internet. Some of the dishes would be the first time that he would cook them but with the most famous video streaming website’s guide, he was confident as well that he also wouldn’t mess them up but he would still take his time to make sure that everything was perfect.

  “At least I don’t need to cook Prince Charming’s food,” Ezekiel muttered.

  Ezekiel busied himself in cooking but after a couple of hours, Robert and Luke entered the kitchen so he served them their breakfast and their vitamins. They actually stayed in the kitchen watching him cook while they continued discussing the list of toys they wanted to get.

  After about an hour, the two boys disturbed him telling him that they decided on some of the toys they wanted to purchase which were a set of toy armor, swords, shields, and bows with plunger arrows for each of them and that brought their budget down to 3 silver coins. At least Robert and Luke were thankful that he didn’t include their bags, notebooks, coloring books, and crayons in their 5 silver coins budget.

  Because of their new set of toys, the two boys promptly forgot the remaining list of toys they were thinking of purchasing and began playing. They were disturbing him so Ezekiel asked them to play in the bedroom, washroom, or Prince Charming’s stable but to remember not to leave the three houses.

  The two boys immediately ran off and Ezekiel went on with his cooking. During lunchtime, he took a break and ate lunch with his brothers. He also didn’t forget to feed their donkey but after that, he went back to cooking.
