TBE Chapter 67
Ezekiel was highly satisfied while looking at the bento boxes that would last their family for a couple of months and two weeks. He then stored them inside his 4th tab space together with the feed for Prince Charming that he already purchased which should also last at the same time as their food.
He then asked one of the butcher knives tiny servants who were just loitering outside to call his brothers and tell them that it was time for dinner then the tiny servant ran off. After a minute or so, Robert and Luke entered the kitchen.
“How did the knife tell you that I’m calling you both for dinner?” Ezekiel asked.
“When it entered the bedroom door, it tapped me in my arm then gestured as if it was eating then pointed at the kitchen house,” Luke said while eyeing the food that Ezekiel had prepared.
He prepared a sweet and sour pork dish together with rice and some cold water bespelled to taste like fruit juice and was happy to note that his brothers enjoyed the dish very much. After dinner, Ezekiel cleaned the bento boxes that they were using and stored them in his 4th tab space then he told his brothers that he needed to feed Prince Charming so they ran off to the bedroom again to continue playing and Ezekiel went to their donkey’s stable and fed and watered Prince Charming.
After making sure that all the chores were done for the night, Ezekiel then cast the defensive and warning spells that he usually cast to make sure that his little family was safe then went to find Robert and Luke so they could wash up for the night.
The next day found the three siblings on the road again. Of course, Ezekiel made sure that they had a healthy breakfast before they left and the area was devoid of any traces of magic but to be honest, he knew that if he didn’t bother, nothing would happen. There were so few people in the area that any magic that he left behind would probably dissipate before anyone found them.
Ezekiel was enjoying their journey. The weather was nice with the surrounding’s soft light of the morning and gentle breeze. The three of them were beginning to become very healthy and Prince Charming was pulling their cart in a very sedate manner. The smell coming from the forest was fresh and full of vitality and the singing of the birds accompanied them.
They were not in a hurry to go anywhere and Ezekiel felt that there shouldn’t be anyone chasing them anymore and if there were, he could just spell them to death. Ezekiel had this feeling of adventure in his blood that they were currently undertaking but there was also a feeling of safety on the road at that moment due to the sparse population and the confidence that he had gained in his magic. The world was new to him and very vibrant and he felt his very existence, his very ego was singing its joyful adulation to being alive.
At that moment, Ezekiel felt happy and content and he savored it. There might come a time when this type of instance would be rare. Of course, he hoped not since his brothers had already experienced difficulties in their lives with them losing their parents at a very young age and encountering cold and hunger. He hoped that the three of them would have the time to grow up peacefully in a rich environment but knew that because of the very fact of him having magic, there would come a time when there would be a need for him to be some sort of a protagonist of some sort of convoluted story.
Ezekiel truly hoped that his having a system and having magic and transmigrating to the body of a dead orphan was just some random cosmic phenomenon and not some sort of machination of an all-powerful entity. In his opinion, it would be easier to live with that randomness instead of being forced to do activities forced by a calculative mind.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
He noticed that his thoughts were beginning to become gloomy so he went back to just enjoying the moment amidst the noise that his brothers were doing with them playing some sort of game that he didn’t bother to understand.
The three siblings spent the day with that peaceful vibe, stopping for a moment to eat lunch and feed their donkey, and then continued to their journey. Late in the afternoon, Ezekiel noticed a village in the distance and as planned, they looked for a place to stay inside the forest and would enter the village in the morning to sell his wares.
The only downside to their current situation was him being so young that any normal villagers would worry about three children traveling on their own however capable those children were.
Ezekiel then thought of using his magic to disguise himself as someone older but unfortunately, he hadn’t seen any spell that would allow him to do something like that with the current level that he had.
Nevertheless, they had no choice but to continue moving forward to a city and maybe there, they would have the place and time to grow up.
Since they were near a village, Ezekiel decided to set up their camp far inside the forest so no one would notice their presence, and with Yuki Onna’s assistance, they found an open space that was fairly safe. Besides, once he cast Galder’s Towers, they would have a safe place to stay.
The next day, Ezekiel and his two brothers entered the village and with some of the villager’s help, headed directly to the market. By paying around five copper coins, he rented a place next to a fruit merchant. Some of the people eyed him and his brothers, probably because of their age, but thankfully no one bothered them.
Robert and Luke assisted him in setting up their stall that displayed the woodwork that Anton would sell for the day but he would follow his plan that they would leave the village late in the afternoon.
The moment everything was set up, Ezekiel told his brothers they could play in the village and Yuki should be able to keep them safe. They would have to return to the market though to eat lunch with him.
The villagers in the market saw his wares. They saw how beautiful they were but a lot of them were surprised at the high price and the fact that Ezekiel said that there would be no haggling.
As usual, many of them kept on insisting that they should be able to haggle since that was the normal behavior of merchants, and some even stooped to shouting at him but when they saw Ezekiel remained calm and resolute with his powerful-looking crossbow beside him, all of them returned to examining his wares.
They were a bit thankful though that Ezekiel allowed them to handle the items so most of them picked up the wooden arts and crafts and examined them in great detail. Some begrudgingly returned the items to where they were placed but some could not help themselves and purchase the products even though they were grumbling at how costly they were.
Ezekiel mostly sold one to three items per hour but he was earning steadily. At around mid-morning, Yuki Onna informed him of some disturbance and when he used his Familiar’s eyes, he saw that a couple of older children tried bullying his brothers but when Yuki Onna appeared and barked at them, they got scared off.
Some of the younger villagers did play with them so everything looked fine to Ezekiel. At around lunchtime, he put up a sign that said that the stall was closed and waited for his brothers to arrive. They did so after a few minutes but they brought their friends with them. There were three extra children and Ezekiel just sighed and gave each one of them a bento box for lunch to the delight of his brothers since apparently, they promised their new friends that their big brother would provide them delicious lunch.
Ezekiel also provided the cold water that they drank with its flavor changed into a sweetened fruit juice with the help of his Prestidigitation spell which he covertly cast. The young kids kept praising the food that they were eating but after lunch, they all ran off immediately after giving the empty boxes to him.
After cleaning them using his favorite spell making sure that no one was watching him, Ezekiel stored the boxes in his 4th tab space then he re-opened his stall by removing the sign that said it was closed.
By the time Ezekiel closed his stall, half of the items were sold off earning him a total of 1 gold coin. Ezekiel was happy with the gold coin that he earned and planned to continue this system in the villages that they would pass through. Soon his brothers arrived and helped him clean up the stall then they began the journey out of the village.
Robert and Luke waved to their new friends but at least this time, they didn’t give out their toys to them. Their friends followed them until they exited the village gate and soon the village was out of their sight.
