Apparently Donny really had been quite exhausted. He woke up to Goh and Serena shaking him and telling him to wake up. They told Donny that he was going to be late for breakfast if he didn't get up right now. After quickly dressing himself he and his cabin mates left for the camp cafeteria to acquire breakfast. "Oh wait! Serena what happened to Eevee?" Donny had just remembered Eevee was taken back with them yesterday. "Oh Professor Oak took her from me, he said I should get her back today if everything goes well." They continued to chat until the finished breakfast and Oak rounded up all the campers. The old man cleared his throat and began "Campers as you know I've been allowing everyone to leave camp and explore for the past 2 weeks and because of that most of you already have Pokemon. Now that you've had time to get used to your partners, we will have a battle tournament where the winner will receive a prize of 3 ultra balls, the choice of a starter Pokemon from my lab and the truly grand reward of a sponsorship from me." Excited murmuring quickly spread across the 30 kids. A sponsorship was huge; it meant you could catch more than six Pokemon before you attained 7 badges (couldn't have them on hand though). From big sponsors like Oak, you would even receive top shelf Pokemon food and training items. There is so much a sponsor allows a trainer to do that they were really only given to popular trainers or true prodigies. The old man raised his voice to get the attention of the group again. "The brackets have already been created and people who have not yet managed to catch a Pokemon will be given three more days of grace period before being disqualified. With that may I have Joey Young and Quinton Green come with me and the rest of you get to the bleachers." Everybody quickly moved to the bleachers and watched the drawn battlefield eagerly as Oak talked to both participants before moving to the sidelines to cleared his throat "begin."
Joey was quick to call out to his Rattata. "Use Tail Whip!" Rattata ran up to its opponent, an Oddish, and smacked it with its tail. Quinton called for tackle but Oddish didn't listen, opting for Poison Powder instead, leaving a deep purple rash visible even though Rattata's fur. Rattata cried out and sneezed at the noxious gas but heeded Joey's call of Quick Attack. The rat crashed clumsily into the weed Pokemon and began to scratch desperately at Oddish's face. Oddish, still ignoring its trainer, tried to use Poison Powder again to no avail before eventually fainting at gnaws and swipes from Rattata. Oak cleared his throat and spoke up "The winner of the match is Joey Young. Quinton Green please take your pokemon to the medical cabin and return to the bleachers." Next up was Donny and a kid named Jonathan Hence. The two actually had one thing in common, rich families. Jonathan walked up to his side of the field pompously with a flick of his hair. Donatello on the other hand lazed up to his side stretching and yawning.
"Begin." Dreepy shot off of Donny's head while Donny was fiddling with Applin's pokeball. Jonathan tossed a pokeball onto the field revealing a tall standing Electabuzz that crackled with electricity and let out a roar resembling the sound of thunder. Donny looked up from the Ball in his hand, the kid definitely bought Electabuzz but even with a lack of experience he would easily wipe the floor with any kid here. "Dreepy it's fast but you're faster just don't get hit. Double Team Quick Attack Combo!" Dreepy began to split into doubles of itself while avoiding thunderbolts from the hulking beast. When Dreepy was content with the amount of clones it had they all began to pelt Electabuzz. They didn't do much to the beast besides confusing it. "Switch tactics Dragon Rage hit and run!" This once again was only doing minimal damage to the electric type it seemed like it was getting more angry rather than getting hurt. And with a lucky swing of its fist in a blind rage it hit Dreepy sending the little Dragon skidding in the dirt. Dreepy flew away from the spot it landed in quickly, not wanting to take another hit. It stopped and turned around blasting a Dragon Rage in Electabuzz's face. The electric beast roared in response and swung blindly forward with arms coated in fire. Dreepy dodged again even if it didn't expect Fire Punch. After all the running, rage, and missed attacks Electabuzz was tired. All it could do was pathetically swing as Dreepy began to chip away at it with Quick Attack. But the Pokemon was smart with the last of its energy. It used Spark covering its body in electricity knocking dust up and covering both Pokemon for a second. The cloud cleared Electabuzz was the first to be revealed unconscious then Dreepy.
"The winner of this battle is Donatello Draco, Both parties please take your Pokemon to the medical cabin." Oak was the only person to speak up. The crowd of kids was still shocked from the small little dragon beating the big beastly electric type. Donny knew Dreepy went down first the only reason he won was because they could see Electabuzz first he hated that. Jonathan looked furious, he ran up to the unconscious Pokemon and began to yell at it and kick it before Oak yelled at the boy to stop and he reluctantly returned the Electabuzz and began to walk silently with Donny to the medical cabin. About halfway through the walk Jonathan spoke up bitterly "how much for that dragon?" Donny scoffed and laughed at the question. "I come from money too you can't buy my best friend off of me! hell even if I didn't you still couldn't buy him off me!" Jonathan clearly didn't like this comment because his face was red probably with mostly anger and some embarrassment. "You cheated didn't you! You hurt my Pokemon before the battle! Or my side of the field was bad! There's now way that small stupid little- AH!" Dreepy, who was still resting on Donny's head, didn't like the comments about its size and threatened the boy with a growl and biting motion. This shut Jonathan up for the rest of the walk to the medical cabin. Dreepy was deemed free to go by the nurse joy volunteer because he had just been a bit dizzy.
Back at the arena a Pidgey had just beaten a Rattata that was way smaller than Joey's. And both trainers were walking back the way Donny came. On his way back he ran into Serena, her battle was up next Professor Oak had managed to get her a permit in only 1 day so she was cleared to battle with and have Eevee. After giving her some words of affirmation they separated and Donny went back to Goh, Chloe, and Joey in the stands.
Serena was nervous as she took her place on the battlefield. Eevee was already waddling by her side so no need to hold her pokeball. Her opponent was a kid named Eric. He had been battling other kids since he caught his Purrloin so it didn't look particularly good for Serena. Eevee on the other hand looked as if she had been waiting for this moment all her life, both Pokemon took their places, and oak called begin. Eric yelled out for Purrloin to use Scratch and Serena called for Tackle, neither pokemon listened instead both walked up to the opposite trainer. "Purrloin! What are you doing? Come on, don't just walk past it!" "Eevee what's wrong? Please use Tackle." Eevee reached its destination first, it sat in front of Eric and used its best Baby-doll Eyes, Purrloin used Copycat on Eevee and did the same to Serena. Eric let out an "Awwww" but Serena just thought Eevee was cuter. Just then Eevee jumped up and snatched Eric's pokeball before running back to Serena, Purrloin did the same but Serena was startled by the sudden movement and fell back bringing the pokeball just barely out of its reach. Purrloin looked bitterly at Eevee and returned to its pokeball before Eevee kicked it back over to Eric.
Professor Oak let out a hearty laugh and said "Purrloin forfeit meaning the winner is Serena Yvonne! It seems there was a rivalry before you two caught these Pokemon, what a coincidence!"
Serena let out a sigh of relief and a small laugh before Eevee jumped into her arms.
Donny was confused, happy, and amazed. Despite his encouragement he didn't expect Serena to win in a real battle when she'd only been with Eevee for 30 minutes at most, but this was unexpected. Both parties were sent back to the stands because no Pokemon even got hurt. Goh was up next with a Pokemon he scrambled to catch yesterday and somehow forgot to mention. As Goh took his place the opposing youngster did the same, and they both threw pokeballs forward. Goh released a Nidoran and the kid, Jake Ranson, released a Geodude. Geodude began with throwing rocks at the Nidoran and Goh called for it to dodge, but it could only dodge so many before it got hit. Geodude used Rollout and blitzed towards Nidoran. "Nidoran counter with Double Kick!" Nidoran yelled back a Goh and charged the Geodude with peck instead. The two Pokemon crashed and Geodude won out rolling away and pivoting for round two. "Nidoran! Why didn't you use Double Kick? It would have been more effective!" The Poison Pin Pokemon grunted and charged the Geodude again to the same effect. On the next attempt it didn't even put up a fight. Rollout had gained too much momentum. Donny was honestly shocked, even if he didn't know how long Goh had Nidoran he would've expected Goh to win. He was smart and definitely capable on the few times they'd convinced Applin to let go have a mock battle against Dreepy with it. Goh of all people should've known he needed to befriend his pokemon or at least make a deal with them if there was nothing in it for them most Pokemon wouldn't listen. Even Donny who had been lucky with his dragons had something for Dreepy, a parent for Applin, trust and respect was built over the last of the time in the Dragon's Den. Goh came back and sat down quietly, first Joey tried to cheer him up he got brushed off. Next was Serena but he just ignored her. Donny refused to interact with Goh but Serena and Joey convinced him. "Goh get your act together, no 'rival' of mine is gonna lose once and give up, get your shit together or get out." Donny tried to stop at that but he felt like he couldn't. "All it takes is trust and time you got this Goh. Don't give up, you're not that pathetic." Goh grunted at him, and finally Chloe got her chance. She gathered her thoughts for a moment and spoke "Goh you know that I don't care much for battling so I don't have anything to say on that. But Donatello is right, don't give up. That was only your first try Donatello has been in a cave full of dragon types for months of course he won but you're not him. You're smarter than him, more friendly, have my dad backing you up and you have me. As far as I'm concerned you're leagues better than him." Donny was having a real hard time keeping his mouth shut but he did so nonetheless. "So Goh don't give up I'm sure you and Nidoran will get it soon." Goh met her eyes and nodded before getting up and walking over to Donny "Donny- no Donatello next time I'm gonna win and after that your next, rival. I don't need to see the rest of this tournament, I'm going to go train." Chloe ran after him and with that only Joey, Serena, and Donny were left. "So he ignores the rest of us but a little pep talk from his girlfriend and he runs off to train. What'd I do differently?!" Donny complained but settled down to watch the rest of the first round.

It was quite uneventful Gary Oak with a huge Pidgey with particularly red eyes. Ashton Ketchum won his battle easily against a Poliwag that Pichu made quick work of. The next round would be tomorrow so Donny Serena and Joey had about 3 hours to kill before Donny would run off to train.
Joey had a nice idea to pass said time. "Let's introduce Eevee to our Pokemon back at the cabin." Serena smiled. "That's a great idea Joey!" Eevee, who seemed to take after Dreepy in resting on her trainer's head, perked up at the mention of its name. "Ve Ee Vee!"
Eevee loathed Donny, and they all had no clue why. It had been a few hours and Donny had even sent his Pokemon to train on their own. His right and left hands were covered in bites and scratches, and he refused to give up and accept that Eevee hated him. "Donny your hands have to be hurting…" Serena said with a concerned voice. Eevee seemed to enjoy nipping and scratching him so it wouldn't run off whenever he'd try to pet it. "No, just 1 more try and I'm sure it will at least tolerate me… Ah that hurts!" After another Hour Eevee got bored and ran away from him concluding the night.Same as yesterday every cabin was awoken and brought to the battle area. As they walked Donny had a few questions for Goh. "Red, where did you drag Chloe off all day? We all went to sleep before you two were back there's training and then there's hurting your Pokemon." Goh rubbed the back of his head with an apologetic smile "Well most of the day was earning Nidoran's trust and after that we got an hour of training in but Chloe fell asleep." Goh leaned in close to whisper. "It took a while but if I tell her she'll think I'm calling her fat. Which she's not." Donny took his word for it and Nidoran seemed much nicer with Goh so he knew the day wasn't wasted. As they reached the battlefield Oak told everyone to head to the stands besides Gary and Anne, a Kid who made it past the first round, to head to the stands. Gary and Anne took their positions on opposite sides and both released their Pokemon Gary the massive Pidgey from yesterday and Anne a Snivy that must've been from home. Oak called for them to begin and Snivy charged vines already extended from its neck and lashing. Pidgey took to the air kicking up dirt as it took off and studied the Snivy for an opening in its shield of whipping vines. Gary and Anne said nothing while waiting for their Pokemon to make their own actions. Finally Pigey flapped hard sending a Powerful gust sweeping over the arena. "Pidgey spinning dive and Peck!" The bird did as ordered diving in on Snivy's location in a mock Drill Peck. The pained cry of a Snivy told the audience it was a direct hit. "Double Wing Attacks!" "Snivy restrain it with a Vine Whip!" Sinvy was not strong enough to hold down the big bird for long and Pidgey hit it with a powerful Wing Attack from both sides again mocking Dual Wingbeat. Snivy, pushed into what pros called stress range, began to glow a faint green as its natural ability Overgrow came into effect. With this boost in power Snivy was able to force Pidgey to retreat with two powerful cracks against Its wings with Grassy vines. Pidgey took back to the skies with reddened wings and a significant struggle. Snivy wasn't done though it grabbed Pidgey and pulled it back in by its trainers command and began to violently whip the poor bird. Gary wasn't complaint though as he ordered Pidgey to use flying type attacks to out damage it. A cloud of dirt quickly built up as the Pokemon struggled against each other the only input was screams from both sides. After 30 seconds in the cloud the dust cleared showing both Pokemon battered and asleep. Oak called a tie. Donny was truly impressed. It may have been on the quicker side but that was the best battle he'd seen. Snivy was strong and determined while Gary had Pidgey use what it had to make mock versions of stronger moves. "There are no tie-breakers in this tournament. Both sides will move on." with that Oak sent them both to the medical cabin. Next up was Donny, he wouldn't lose this one he'd redeem himself. He had the perfect opponent, Jake, the one that Knocked Goh out of the first round. Donny may not have known why he felt a strong hate towards the kid, but he wanted to avenge his friend and rival. Applin was released from the pokeball that was thrown and Jake released the same Geodude. "Withdraw, we're going to embarrass this guy!" Appln already understood withdrawing into its Apple and boosting its defences before rolling forward as fast as possible. Geodude didn't Defence Curl just rolled forwards. Both Pokemon clashed once. Geodude grunted, pushing hard against Applin who was too focused to make a sound. Applin won the first clash, then the second ,and the third, fourth and Geodude couldn't handle the fifth. It wasn't even a battle, it was a joke. The apple that was half the size of the boulder beat the boulder in a competition to hit the other the hardest. And to salt the wound Donny wasn't even paying attention he was chatting with Dreepy while Jake was giving it his all.
"Ahem the winner of the battle is Donatello." Donny made his way back to the stands and sat back down. He didn't have much to say, as he had taught Serena to train and told her to do that instead of watching so she could win her battle properly this time.
Ashton ketchum was up against a random kid; they sent out a Caterpie while Pichu hopped off Ash's shoulder. Pichu ran up to the caterpillar clearly underestimating it. Caterpie shot out String Shot trapping the mouse before starting to wrap it in more and more string. "Pichu uh I think burn it with Thundershock try not to burn yourself!" Ash yelled thinking quickly. Pichu started a small fire with its electricity but it did burn itself a bit then it charged with quick attack but Caterpie used its String Shot to zip around the field and avoid it. It threw Pichu off by making it trip occasionally. "Pichu Thundershock there and speed up towards it!" Ash predicted the next spot perfectly, the string burned up and Caterpie didn't have enough time to escape the mouse barreling towards it. After Pichu got to it the battle was basically over a few shocks and Caterpie was out cold.
