Running over to the dummy, I took the sword that I had gotten from that knight out of my storage. Nix was currently dodging all of the dummy's punches with surprising agility, but she wasn't able to fight back. She clearly needed some help.
Upon reaching the dummy, I swung my bde at it's head with all of my strength. In response, the dummy took a wooden sword out from thin air and parried my attack. It felt like I had struck metal instead of wood. I wasn't sure as to how sharp that "wooden" sword was, but I did not want to find out.
Unfortunately for me, the dummy seemed to have decided to attack me instead of Nix. I managed to avoid it's counter by jumping back and using my wings to propel myself backwards, but it was far too close for comfort.
"Nix, can you keep shooting lightning from further away?" (Dragonfly)
"Sure, that sounds fun!" (Nix)
Keeping my eyes on our opponent, I began to try using my fire magic to help.
'First step... concentrate on my feelings. Second step, let my mana represent them. Third step um... covering my sword with mana maybe?'
Covering the sword in fire was actually easier than I had expected. However, the more important thing was that the dummy was currently trying to hit me. That wasn't exactly something I appreciated.
I thankfully managed to block the strike with my own sword, but I did not stop there. Maniputing my mana a bit, I managed to light the dummy's bde abze during it's short contact with mine. Surprisingly, the dummy didn't seem to care about it.
"Duck!" (Nix)
I ducked as fast as I possibly could. That turned out to be an amazing idea as the space that I had just occupied was filled with lightning almost instantly afterwards. Looking at the result, I could see that the lightning had left scorched marks on it's target. The power behind that spell was probably just as high if not higher than my breath attack. Nix had spent a few moments to prepare it, but it was still impressive.
"Take that, you dummy!" (Nix)
'Right, my breath attack.'
Seeing that this was a great opportunity, I used my draconic breath at point bnk. I did manage to set our opponent on fire from head to toe, but it was still standing.
"This thing just refuses to break. Nix, do you know how to disable it?" (Dragonfly)
"There's a core inside the head. Smashing it would disable the construct." (Camity)
Yes, she was still leaning back against the wall while eating whatever she was eating. She had given us the method to win the fight, at least.
Looking at the dummy, I could tell that this was going to be an issue. Striking at the head wasn't an easy task.
I attempted to ssh at it's weak point, but the annoying piece of scrap parried my strike again before trying to hit me with it's bde. While being completely on fire would usually be an issue for most opponents, this one was completely unaffected. It was still an inanimate object, not a living thing that could feel pain.
Nix sent a lightning strike at it from an angle that didn't risk hitting me, this time. I noticed that the dummy actually stopped moving for a short duration right after being struck with that spell. I could use that.
"Nix, that spell can stun it for a short duration. Can you cast it when I give you the signal to?" (Dragonfly)
"Sure! I'll stun it so much that it won't be able to move for a year afterwards!" (Nix)
I readied myself and attacked our foe to create a diversion. I managed to trade a few blows without taking damage, even if it was a bit too close for comfort. When the dummy tried to do an attack that left it's head slightly open, I gave my signal.
"Now!" (Dragonfly)
Nix promptly sent a massive electrical discharge straight at the dummy, stopping it's movements for an instant. Taking the opportunity, I jumped up in the air while boosting my speed with my wings and swung my sword downwards with all of my strength. I actually managed to split it's head straight in half, along with the core. As soon as I did that, the rest of it's burning body fell down like a puppet that had it's strings cut.
"That was so cool! We won! Yay!" (Nix)
Camity began to cp as soon as her daughter was done cheering.
"Good job, you two. For a first time fighting together, that was pretty good." (Camity)
I took a look at the now empty bowl that was lying on the ground.
"What were you eating anyways?" (Dragonfly)
"Popcorn, obviously." (Camity)
I didn't know what that was, but it was probably just some joke that I wasn't getting.
