Opening my eyes, I saw a bookshelf. That was odd, because there wasn't any bookshelf in the inn. In fact, I quickly realised that I wasn't in the inn at all. There were rows and rows of books in every direction.
This was a dream, clearly. I could just tell for some reason.
"What's this pce?" (Nix)
Turning around, I noticed that Nix was there too. It wouldn't be that strange for her to be present in a normal dream, but this did not seem like one. She also felt more real than everything else, somehow.
"I think that we are dreaming. I've had a simir dream before, so it's possible." (Dragonfly)
"What was it about? This pce is cool..." (Nix)
"I was in some sort of dark void st time. There was a being who cimed to have blessed me, but I woke up before learning anything useful." (Dragonfly)
While I was talking, Nix walked over to one of the bookshelves to try to pick up a book, but, no matter what she did, she couldn't make any of them budge by an inch.
"This is unfair! You can't just put me in a library and refuse to let me read!" (Nix)
"You weren't paying attention to what I was saying, weren't you..." (Dragonfly)
"What?" (Nix)
"Nevermind." (Dragonfly)
Looking around some more revealed nothing of interest. All of the books were fully locked in pce and the library seemed to stretch on forever. There did seem to be a roof, but, as far as I could tell, it was located at an absolutely ridiculous height.
"This pce is strange. Well, want to explore a bit? We might find something." (Dragonfly)
"Sure, I guess... This pce seems kind of boring. We can't even read any of the books." (Nix)
I took a look at the spine of some of the books to see what they were about. As far as I could tell, most books seemed to be about different types of monsters and how to fight them. There was, however, an insane amount of those guides. I saw at least twenty different books about goblins.
After some time, we encountered a space that wasn't fully occupied by bookshelves. Instead, there was a circur table surrounded by three chairs. I had a feeling that we were meant to sit there, for some reason.
I walked over and sat down. Nix seemed to have had the same idea, as she sat on a chair next to me.
As soon as we were both seated, the strange being that I had seen in my other dream appeared again. Despite still being unable to see him properly, I was absolutely sure that he was the same.
"Welcome, I apologise for the dey, I had some things to settle. I know that you two have important questions to ask, so I'll do my best to answer them." (???)
"Why can't we read the books?" (Nix)
Of course, that was the first thing that she had to ask.
"Ah, well that's simple. You do not have the librarian's permission to take books." (???)
"How do I get their permission?" (Nix)
"It depends. If she likes you, you'll be granted permission. She's busy at the moment, however, so you'll have to wait." (???)
That was probably good to know? However, that whole talk about a librarian made it sound like we were in a real physical pce instead of just in a dream.
"What's this pce, exactly? I know that this is some strange dream, but why are you talking like this is a real pce?" (Dragonfly)
"Because it is a real pce. You are simply visiting it in a dream." (???)
"How does that make sense?" (Dragonfly)
"It doesn't." (???)
I decided to just give up on understanding that and switched to a different topic.
"Who are you?" (Dragonfly)
"Ah, a good question. I am the one who blessed you two, as you already know. I am also the one responsible for that system update in your world." (???)
I wasn't that surprised at that, but it was still strange. Why would a being who could change the way the world works randomly bless both Nix and I?
"The system said that you were a primordial being, but why would a primordial being interfere with this world and help us? Oh! Is there some sort of grand heroic mission that we have to complete?" (Nix)
"Nah, I was just bored and you both seemed interesting." (???)
Honestly, I wasn't sure as to what I was expecting, but that wasn't it. Seriously? We just seemed interesting? Well, I wasn't going to compin, as that blessing was probably what had allowed me to survive the dragon blood injection. Sure, learning that I had only lived thanks to the whims of a bored being felt strange, but there was nothing I could do about it.
"So, can we know your name?" (Dragonfly)
"Ah, you wish to know what to call me? Fair enough. I have many names and titles, tho I believe that there is only one fitting for this occasion. You may call me Chaos. As you might have figured out by now, I am the primordial god of chaos. Anyways, that's enough for the night. It's time for you two to wake up." (Chaos)
As soon as he uttered those words, I woke up back in the bed at the inn.
"What." (Dragonfly)
"That was so cool! We have a blessing from a god of chaos!" (Nix)
