"That was so cool! We have a blessing from a god of chaos!" (Nix)
I was tempted to agree, but I was a bit too confused, honestly.
"So, do you know anything about Chaos? I've never heard of him before, but I'm not knowledgeable on religion." (Dragonfly)
"Oh, no, I never heard of him before. Mom had a couple statues of gods around, but she never really said much about them." (Nix)
"Well, I guess that learning about that can be added to our objectives." (Dragonfly)
Thankfully, we were in a pce that was quite literally named the Holy Kingdom of Sanctus. This was probably the country with the most information about deities. Maybe this vilge wasn't the right pce to look, but there had to be rger temples near the rger cities where we could learn something relevant.
I went through the rest of my morning routine, which included brushing Nix's tail, of course, without worrying about the implications of being seen as a source of entertainment by a being that was at least close to omnipotent. I mean sure, I could probably have had a whole mental breakdown over it, but that wouldn't have done much. My mental fortitude skill was absolutely being useful again.
Once Nix's tail was sufficiently brushed for her tastes, we began getting ready to go to the Adventurers Guild to pick a quest for the day. I decided to check my status too, just to see if my blessing and affinity had updated with the new information.
Unsurprisingly, the blessing was now called blessing of Chaos. What did surprise me, however, was the fact that my magical affinity hadn't changed and was still dispying question marks. I checked the description of the blessing, just to see if there was anything useful in there.
[This is the most goodest blessing ever. -Chaos]
There was not.
Not sure as to what I was expecting, really.
"Skill descriptions either state the obvious or give no relevant or useful information, this is kind of stupid..." (Dragonfly)
While I was muttering to no one in particur, the system seemed to have decided to listen to my compint. The description for the blessing of Chaos had been repced by an in-depth guide on how to properly brush and maintain a fox's tail. While that was about as relevant as the previous text, this one was useful. I scrolled through it for a bit before realising that it was hundreds of pages long. There were even images included in the description, which I didn't know was possible.
"Hey, Nix, can you check your blessing? Mine changed name, but the description is weird." (Dragonfly)
She looked quite interested in whatever she found in her version of the description, to say the least.
"What is it?" (Dragonfly)
"There's a whole guide about how to properly take care of and maintain objects made of different types of precious metals and gemstones in the skill description. It's pretty cool." (Nix)
I had a feeling that Chaos was responsible for this. Well, I was pretty sure, actually. While the world might have had some sort of will, it probably wouldn't repce descriptions with unreted guides.
Deciding to leave reading those guides for ter, we left the inn and finally headed to the Guild. Thankfully, we didn't encounter any trouble on the way. Eva wasn't there that morning, but we didn't really care as we were simply picking a mission and didn't have an excuse to mess with her.
Now, we did get stumped when we arrived at the bounty board. There wasn't a single quest for C-rank or above. Sure, we could do easier quests, but the rewards wouldn't be as high.
"Seems like we'll have to move on from this vilge already. Well, we already wanted to head to a city, so we might as well do that. There should be more high rank quests avaible there." (Dragonfly)
"Alright, let's go!" (Nix)
Judging by Nix's reaction, she was very eager to go run straight at the nearest city. Unfortunately, we couldn't exactly do that.
"Nix, we don't even know where the nearest city is." (Dragonfly)
"Oh. Right. Do we need to get a map? I don't know where we would get one." (Nix)
We needed to be able to not get lost on the way, which was quite the issue. As Nix had said, a map would have solved the issue, but we had no such thing. This would be way easier if we could just get someone else to do the whole orientation thing for us. That did give me an idea, tho.
"Couldn't we just take an escort mission to a city and just follow the people that we are escorting?" (Dragonfly)
"Oh, good idea! That way we can get paid and still make our way to a city!" (Nix)
Looking through the avaible escort missions, we realised that we didn't really have all that many options. In fact, the only mission that was scheduled on the same day was a D-rank escort mission to the capital. Seeing as we didn't have that many options, we took it.
