I thankfully managed to get Nix to slow down before entering the vilge. We weren't there to cause a commotion, after all.
Walking into the vilge, we didn't really run into much trouble, surprisingly enough. I was expecting to get a few strange looks or something, but that didn't happen. To be fair, the popution of the vilge was quite diverse, so we weren't standing out that much. I could see several different kinds of beastfolks, elves and humans going about. Sure, I might have looked a bit more unusual than most, but no one seemed to care.
Now, while the vilgers were friendly enough, that didn't mean that navigating the vilge was easy.
"No, Nix, I know that this is interesting, but we are looking for the Adventurers Guild. You can't go explore everything yet." (Dragonfly)
"Aww, but everything looks so interesting... Oh, that smells tasty!" (Nix)
She was pointing to a nearby bakery. The bread did smell great, but we already had more than enough food.
"Yes, it does, but the rations that... probably shouldn't say that name out loud in public, actually. Point is, the rations that we have are good too, right? We don't need more right now." (Dragonfly)
"Oh, true, actually." (Nix)
After a bit of exploration that mostly involved following the vilge's main road, we found a rge building that was probably the local Adventurers Guild. Or well, that's what the huge sign hanging above the door seemed to indicate, at least.
"Here we go!" (Nix)
Upon entering the building, I was surprised at how quiet it was. I'd have expected to see an adventurer or two in there, but there was no one except a catgirl receptionist standing behind the counter. She looked quite bored too.
"Hello, I haven't seen you two around here before. Why are you here? You look a bit too young to be adventurers." (receptionist)
"We want to register!" (Nix)
"Ah? Alright, I suppose that there's no rule against it, even if you two do seem a bit young..." (receptionist)
Remembering about the letter that Camity had given us, I took it out of my storage and handed it to her.
"I was told to give this while registering." (Dragonfly)
She took a good look at the enveloppe before picking it up. Her face looked like she had bitten into a lemon. I wasn't too sure as to what the issue was, however.
"Wait a moment, I need to go get the guildmaster for this... I hate having to actually work..." (receptionist)
That expined her reaction to the letter. Wait, why did she need to get the guildmaster? I would've asked, but she had already left the room.
...
"Well, let's wait, I guess." (Nix)
"Yeah." (Dragonfly)
Thankfully, the receptionist came back shortly afterwards.
"So, please follow me, the guildmaster will handle this himself. Actually no, just go down that corridor and take the first door to the left..." (receptionist)
She then promptly sat down on her chair and went back to doing whatever she was doing before we came in. Yeah, she was just sitting on a chair doing nothing.
Following her instructions, we went into the hallway that was located behind the counter. Entering the guildmaster's office, the first thing that I noticed was the fact that everything was kind of small? There was a desk, chairs and everything one might have expected from an office, but just a size smaller. I also noticed a short well-dressed man in the corner of the room. Taking his impressive muscles and beard into consideration, it was safe to say that this man was a dwarf. That did expin the size of the furniture, actually.
"Hello!" (Nix)
The guildmaster looked like he was on the verge of panic, for some reason.
"So, you two have a recommendation letter from a demigod? Actually, no, scratch that, forget I said anything, I do not want to know how you got it. Look, there's a standard test to evaluate your power that you'll need to complete, but that's it. Just... go to the end of the hallway and take the door on the right... I'm not paid enough to deal with this..." (guildmaster)
"Ok!" (Nix)
Well, I did not want to know what was written in that letter. Had Camity threatened him or something? Oh well, it wasn't anything worth worrying about, probably. Sure, it felt like all of the guild staff was trying to get rid of us as fast as possible, but I didn't really mind. I wasn't exactly a fan of talking to strangers anyways.
"I wonder what this test is going to be like. We might fight cool monsters!" (Nix)
"You know, I think that it's probably going to be way less impressive than that, it's a test that they make everyone pass, not some epic battle." (Dragonfly)
"Oh, come on, let me dream a bit! This is going to be fun!" (Nix)
