“I guess I would have to design some failsafe, but even that wouldn’t be perma…” Kody paused for more blood, “...eventually someone would add to the teology.”
“Yes ahis in mind. You mentioned what it would do for humanity, we are no longer human dear.” Sylvie patted her friend on the shoulder and ed the towel around their waist. “e o iub ahe blood absorb into your skin. It's quite amazing.”
With a light pulse of red from their power button-shaped irises, Kody nodded in obvious defeat. “I fess, Sylvie…” They stood up and tightly buhemselves up iowel and walked over to the jacuzzi, with a few parts of their cyberics that still cttered as Kody walked. “...I really have just thought about engineering my whole life. Immortality has only fueled that iy.” They stepped into the warm bath of blood, “I suppose I will focus on things that help us, vampires. Specifically Lucy, Casey, you and myself.”
With Kody finally rexed and fairly clear on their future as, Sylvie took a breath and got to the biggest issue. “Kody.”
“Yes?” Kody answered while their eyes were shut, clearly tent being iub. “You were right, this is amazing. It’s too bad I didn’t try this when we built the room.”
Formutily what she was going to say, Sylvie took into at that Kody expected her to ask a favor of some kind since she was the one who initiated the call. Still running the details of how horrific the oute was for the town and the vampires that resided there, Sylvie took her time and expihe euation, without leaving out aails that she’d seen in her vision. Ohe long speech was given, Sylvie csped her hands over her mouth and studied Kody for a few seds. “I think that ats for the ehing as I know it.”
“I am just saying this so I be pletely sure, Sylvie.” Kody took a palm full of blood from where they’d been rexing and sipped. “A highly radioactive substahat you call a silvery-lookial, that you think is inside wooden barrels of vampire blood. This substance killed aire town as well as the vampires they were overexposed. Other’s left to follow the vision of the portal-pool that we are fighting now.” Kody rolled their eyes, “That is what I heard, right?”
Taking the time to close her eyes ahe events once moing step by painful step through the vision, Sylvie after another five minutes nodded her head and slowly answered, “I think that sums it up, other than a tiny transtion error iem o close the actual portal. You see, I read it as bracers, but really it says brace.” Sylvie emuted a tiny cmp. “It was only retly that I went bad I looked at the w and figured out it meant braot bracer.”
Casey returned and gave Sylvie a kiss on her cheek, “It’s done you sexy devil. Everything safely burned and backed up.” Casey curled up in Sylvie’s p and held her around the shoulders and neck while looking towards Kody. “Kody. We have the passages that came from the book if you want to see them, but the reason Sylvie and I took on the idea of making this thing was that it required sun and moon. Which I think is the two of us.” Casey fluttered her eyelids and caused her golden-rayed eyes to fsh. “Somehow our blood is involved, we’d hoped it retty straightforward.” Casey settled down into Sylvie’s neck. “At this point I just don’t know, my knowledge base is equal to my degree and the i.”
“Ladies, I am an engineer.” Kody ughed, “The only thing that I have designed for vampires that seemed to not have a sting effect is my own flying shape. I guess no one cares about a steam-driven seagull.” They heard the other tires ugh. “If I had to guess, since I don’t know the passages, whatever is in those barrels is meant as a power source?” Kody poi Sylvie, “You did say that didn’t you?”
“I might have mentio in the discussion, There’s so much that I might not have.” Sylvie slipped her arms around Casey’s small waist, “My vision and the text suggest we needed one and I thought the element would provide that power…though I have no idea how anything nuclear provides power.”
“Oddly enough, it’s steam.” Kody rubbed their temples. “Ever get the feeling that fate is an ugly angel bent on revenge for some?” Scratg the back of their head, Kody found another few small circuits and pulled them out. “It would really help if I could see the diagram of what you o build and the passages that you got out of the book. Since we ’t go anywhere in the sunlight, I will take the entire day and see what I e up with.” Kody grabbed the towel and ed it around their waist, then headed to the nearby shower. “Sylvie, do you still have any of my clothes here?”
“Feel free to check the room you stayed in, Casey and I will be in the living room, let’s see what the news is rep.” Scooping her partner up in her arms, Sylvie poured herself into a kiss and stopped when she heard Casey sigh and go limp in her arms. “Let’s see what is happening with the fires.”
–
No sooner had Sylvie and Casey turned oelevision and turo a loews station out of Rid thawo heard a lovely song pying from all over and nowhere at the same time. It was only after watg Kody walking towards the front door in a trahat Sylvie looked at Casey and the tires jumped up.
“Um, Sylvie…sweetheart Kody is going to go outside.” Casey announced in a new panic. “If they open that door we are…”
Unsure what exactly was going on, Sylvie agreed with Casey at that moment. Rather than answering her lover and partner, Sylvie darted in front of the door that led to the garage. Fog on her i, Sylvie spoke out with the heaviest authority she could. “Kody, Stop!”
It was as though the vampire had beerocuted. Kody stopped moving and began shaking untrolbly. “So…pretty.” They pointed out of the door. “e on Sylvie, let’s go together. The song is going to answer all of the questions we have, ’t you hear the angels singing?”
Anger. Hot and furious anger flowed through Sylvie’s veins and she shook her head. “Kody no, you will ignore and fet that music is pying. You don’t know why or how but it's gone and you are just standing here because you were walking around…thinking.”
“That erfect Taini.” Casey hopped up and ran beside Sylvie, “Sadly now Kody knows. You ’t give a and like that without them knowing.” Casey took a couple of steps and gripped Kody by their wrist. “Kody, please bud…don’t be angry.” Casey simply smiled, “Our Luna, our moon just saved us.”
