“What did you wish to discuss?” Pandora’s actor said in the guise of Momon, “from what I have overheard, it is about why I bent the knee?” he pushed.
The girl that hadn’t changed at all leaned back and looked down. Now that he saw it, this vampire seemed utterly embarrassed by him. Or rather, by her massive crush on the idea of Momon.
It was strange to see, from inside outside perspective. The doppelganger himself didn’t know what to think. Sure, he had interacted with many an infatuated adventurer, or simply commoner. Yet the girl in front of him was truly unique. The way she carried herself in his presence made it seem like she was confessing to her childhood crush.
“I was just wondering that,” she looked up at him and away from her twiddling thumbs, “why did you bent the knee, and swear your services to him?” she asked with a slight edge to her voice.
He leaned back this time, his mind was awash with what to say. He could say many things to try and figure out what she wanted to hear. He knew what she wanted already though. It was a simple thing too.
He decided to answer as best he could in the sovereign way that Momon would. His tone turned analytical. His body shifted to that of a thinking pose. He put a hand top his chin for good measure.
“I wanted the people to be safe. I know for a fact that I can beat him in a fight. Yet if he wanted to, he could kill everyone in this city for the fun of it. yet he didn’t,” he stopped and looked down at her, she leaned in closer.
“The simple matter of fact that he didn’t simply wash over the city with undead is a testament to how into the role of a leader he is. He doesn’t need to kill for his army to grow, age does that. He doesn’t need people to rule over, he already had some. He didn’t need people to fear him, the battle did that for him,” he said, and Evil Eye clenched her fists.
He paused then. Gauging her reaction. His sister, Tanya in the guise of Tatania, looked on with a contemptive look on her face. The fact that she seemingly remembered that battle, despite the fact that she wasn’t even a year old yet, told him how much of his and her father’s intelligence she and her sisters inherited.
He looked back with a swift turn of his gaze and Evil Eye pced her head on the table with a sigh as she looked at him. He was feeling romantic feelings come off of her. how strange, she was weird, he decided.
“He came to me, after I bent the knee and swore fealty to him, with problems. He wanted to know what the living wanted out of life, out of his rule,” he said, and looked to Tatania and decided to pull her in.
“How has his rule affected you?” he asked, and she looked at him with a small smile that would make anybody’s skin crawl.
“My mother and father are dead. This is because of that battle at the Katze Pins,” she said and Evil Eye looked shocked as she turned to Tatania as she spun her tale, “I don’t care. If not for him, my family would have died anyway to the taxes of the nobility. We had no true future. No food, no home to look to, no other family to lean on. I love his rule,” she reiterated, and Evil Eye was left speechless.
“See? That is why I bent the knee. The Sorcerer King Ainz Ooal Gown actually cares and takes care of his own, or people he perceives as his own,” he said, and Evil Eye looked at him slightly embarrassed once more.
…
“So, what quest are you going to do?” Evil Eye asked, hoping to change the subject away from something that heavy.
“We are going to explore a newly discovered underground cavern. In fact, many other groups are doing so,” he said.
Momon nodded his head and stood up. He motioned for Evil Eye to follow, and she did so. Tatania did so as well. She kept gncing at Evil Eye, as if she was a threat to neutralize. In all honesty, she probably was. The little vampire princess wasn’t stronger than her in levels, but she did have experience on her.
Though, the girl that was the second princess Tanya in disguise wondered how far the gap was. It was a decent bit apart, she could tell. Tanya herself had maxed out her baseline, “wizard,” css. She has also since merged it with her, “gunner,” css.
Tanye herself was strong, that she had realized when she went out with her brother and started adventuring about six months ago. It was truly weird to see everyone else. They had so little knowledge about the leveling system.
Yet, back on track, she wondered what this Evil Eye would do now that she knew the false truth. Would she move here and see this life for herself? Would she leave in denial and never come back? Only time would tell.
As she focused back on the now, Tatania saw that her group had walked up to the mission board and grabbed the cavern delving one. The cavern itself had been discovered in The Great Forest of Tob. It was a quant thing, she had seen the entrance, after all.
If she remembered correctly, the front entrance showed signs of a colpse. It was as if someone had shaken and colpsed the way in. Why would they do that? How did they do so? their spelunking would discover why.
“What is this?” Evil Eye asked, and Momon answered.
“It is the mission board. It works like it did before, except this time, they are exclusively given out by the nation itself,” he said this while turning back and sitting down at the table they had been at, “it is also backed up by the government itself. The lives of the people that go on these adventures are protected by his majesty himself,” he said while opening the little pamphlet.
Evil Eye looked at it, then looked back at the man himself. She seemed on the edge of yelping in surprise and jealously. Tatania herself didn’t know why. She simply looked at Evil Eye as if she was a over eager puppy, looking for attention.
“Mr. Momon how are the benefits so good?!” she yelped at him after she could hold it back no longer, “I mean like seriously? Guaranteed resurrection if your body is intact? Are you kidding me?” she said once more.
“Is that not normal?” Tatania asked with genuine curiosity.
“No!” Evil Eye retorted.
This earned a slight chuckle that turned into a belly ugh from the Adamantite ranked adventurer. The two girls looked at him in unison.
“Stop ughing, this is serious!” Evil Eye pouted and spped her fists against the big man, who simply continued to ugh.
“You can come with us, if you have nothing better to do?” He offered, and she pouted once more.
“You know how to push my buttons too well Mr. Momon,” she whispered in a volume that she thought that only she could hear, “I’ll have to talk to Lakyus, but sure, why not.”
