Chapter 2

Dean was startled as growls and howls soon sounded after someone called out. A rge, four-legged animal appeared, its body as rge as a lion. Its fur resembled a mane, and if it weren't dirty, it would probably look quite impressive.

  "Wild hounds!"

'That's a wild hound?!' Dean excimed inwardly, seeing such a rge animal and how different it was from the ones he knew.

  "Wang Yun, stay close!"

  "Little Fang, ready your weapon!"

  "What's going on with these?!"

Commotion erupted in the group, but Dean could see the anxiety and panic came solely from the children. The adult warriors were fending off and fighting the wild hounds with retive ease.

Dean saw the kids across from him grabbing weapons from beneath the seat: an axe, a staff, and a bow and arrow. Seeing this, Dean scrambled to get his own, grabbing something beneath his seat that turned out to be a hammer. It was quite heavy but not so heavy that he couldn't use it to smash something.

As he looked around, however, he could see the adults had the situation under control. He watched his 'mother' skillfully spin her spear, piercing the mouth of a wild hound deeply and effortlessly lifting the entire creature before smashing it into an oncoming wild hound.

  "Hua!"

Another warrior nearby was wielding his saber so fast that his hands seemed to blur. In the blink of an eye, the wild hound that pounced on him lost its front leg, and blood spttered.

  "Ah!"

From the front, Dean saw his 'father' skillfully wielding two swords, dancing with them and slicing apart a wild hound.

Overall, they looked like they were reenacting martial arts, except these martial arts were truly deadly and efficient.

  “Watch out!”

A shout snapped him out of his wonder of obesering the spectacle before him. The wagon suddenly shook, and it only took a moment for him to find out why.

  "Grrr!!"

Wood splintered as a wild hound had rammed itself near the rear corner of the wagon. Its head stuck out of the wooden wall, shaking the wagon and causing the children inside to stumble.

  "Wang Yun!"

  "Little Fang!"

From the windows of the wagon, Dean could see his 'mother' and other adults trying to push the wild hound away, but they were too busy with their own battles.

The hole slowly widened as the gaping mouth of the wild hound came closer. The children were frightened, which was no surprise; they were a year or two younger than him.

Gripping the handle of the hammer he was holding, he took a deep breath and stepped forward. The wild hound's mouth kept biting as if wanting to devour him. At such a distance, Dean could feel its hot breath on his stomach.

His hair stood on end at the sight of such a ferocious animal. 'Let's do it!' he roared in his mind. As someone prone to accidents, he knew about those seemingly short but long and dazed moments before you get hit by a car or something happens to you. He knew that if he hesitated further during these moments, he would either get badly hurt or die!

The hammer swished through the air as he brought it up and smmed it down. Halfway through, perhaps due to adrenaline, he felt the hammer was weightless as it struck the wild hound's skull and shattered it. Blood and flesh spttered, some of it nding on Dean.

"Haahh..." Dean released a breath, the smell of blood permeating the air. At the same time, he could hear the sounds of fighting dying down.

"Wang Yun, are you okay?" His mother peered in through the window, concern etched on her face.

Dean did his best to appear like an excited 12-year-old kid, "I'm okay, Mother! Really!" He lifted the hammer with vigor.

His mother scanned him a few times before sighing in relief. "Clean yourself. There's a barrel of water there and a cloth. Stay in the wagon," she said as she turned back.

Seeing as there were no more attacks at the moment, Dean rexed. "Uhn!" He suddenly yelped.

Unknown to him, the hammer he was holding with one hand suddenly felt heavy again, catching him by surprise. "What the?" he mumbled. He tried lifting the hammer again with one hand and faced some difficulty.

He clearly felt his physique change, as if everything felt lighter before vanishing. Now he felt normal again, as if nothing had changed.

Seeing this, he fell into thought.

“What do you think is the reason?”

"There is no special reason. These beasts just decided they have a death wish or something."

"That's because you don't use your head, Zhu Ming."

"So what? A bunch of dogs gone stupid, what's new?"

Wang Lee listened as he skinned the dead wild hound in his grasp for its skin to use ter. Thoughts ran through his head as he pondered why the wild hounds had attacked them so aggressively when it was not usually their habit.

In the end, however, he cked the means to fully understand what was going on. Therefore, the safest bet he decided was...

"Let's move, and quickly. I don't know what's going on out there, but staying out here for a long time won't help us either..."

He looked at the sky, estimating the distance to reach their vilge. While Green River Vilge wasn't a powerful vilge, they still had more combatants than they currently did, not to mention the vilge head who was a rank higher than him.

Then Wang Lee turned his gaze back to one of the wagons, where the children were. Hearing what he had done, he couldn't help but feel a little proud.

His expression didn't betray him, though.

  "Come on, quickly... Let's go."

Dean swung the spear in his grasp with practiced motion. Although the spear was much longer than his height, he still skillfully maneuvered it around. While the memories of his current body dominated, the habits and practice of Wang Yun didn't truly disappear.

He grunted with effort as he stabbed the spear into a tree trunk. This time, he imagined he was facing a formidable enemy, one that could threaten his life. And suddenly, with a surge of strength, the spear plunged into the tree and through, splinters spttering as if it had exploded.

He pulled the spear out easily. He felt his body had undergone a significant change. He tried to maintain this state, which seemed to only activate as long as he focused.

He stabbed the spear down into the dead, pierced tree trunk and stepped forward. Spreading his legs apart and with a practiced motion, a fist hit the side of the trunk, tearing it slightly apart.

If it were the ordinary Wang Yun, his fist would have been broken, and the best he could do would be to leave a dent on the trunk. But Dean stared at his fist.

Then he looked at his surroundings. It was now night, the daylight had passed hours ago, and they had chosen a site to temporarily rest before continuing on. With the excuse of taking a dump, he had experimented with himself.

He went back to feeling his body. He was much stronger than a 12-year-old should be, and probably stronger than the best trained human... well, back on Earth at least.

  He opened his status panel...

  K'el

  Race: Kryptonian.

  Css: 0

  Physique: 5

  Abilities: None.

His physique had changed from 1 to 5 after being bathed in the sun for more than half a day. Although he knew a Kryptonian takes energy from the sun from the description, he didn't expect to be 5 times stronger in just a day.

Moreover, he felt his strength had even surpassed the limit of an ordinary human.

He was technically superhuman now. Although he couldn't exactly pinpoint how strong he was, he clenched his fist, still in the Kryptonian state as he had called it. He knew his physical abilities could make him match a Rank 1 martial artist!

And all of this in just one day!

The passing hours had led him to conclude and consider a few things, accepting his situation.

First of all, he was now here. As for how, it wasn't that important anymore. The important thing was that he had to accept his situation. And by extension, his new identity.

He was now Wang Yun. Dean's memories would never disappear, obviously, but his name would now truly be Wang Yun.

Then, he accepted that he was in an Eastern fantasy novel, the kind he used to read in his teenage years where cultivators roamed. At least from Wang Yun's memories, this meant dangers but also opportunities to become an immortal.

To Wang Yun, who had searched his way to gain powers in his previous life, this was undoubtedly a golden chance.

Unfortunately, they had just come from Jade Qing City, where Wang Yun had been rejected at a sect examination to be accepted into one of the powerful sects in the region. He had been beled crippled due to his body's rejection of qi, which is why they were now going back to their vilge.

Which came to the st point: he was now a Kryptonian.

He knew the man in the red cape was a Kryptonian too, and he had tremendous physical capabilities. He could fly and shoot sers out of his eyes, let out ice breath, and now he was like him.

Despite his limited information about Kryptonians, judging from the description, he knew being a Kryptonian was the next big thing if he couldn't become a cultivator.

In short, after accepting his situation and looking for his future prospects, he had hit the jackpot.
