Chapter 18 – A Violent Reputation

Celosia continued to stand in the middle of the crowded halls of Besant. None of the students paid any mind to her, they were told that a human student was going to join their school but they went about their day like normal.

Celosia was only one person that knew their secret, it was doubtful that people would believe her should she tell anyone outside of Besant about the truth about the school, or the Isnd itself, still, some looked at her in an odd and suspicious manner.

Celosia ignored those stares in favour in getting some questions of her answered, such as more information about Besant and where Haruo, Sota and the rest of their family were.

"Damn, it, damn it!" Cursed a boy with brown skin who was shouting nearby. He had bck frizzled hair and was looking at an old broom coated in yellow, he looked frustrated, another boy that stood next to him felt sorry for him and patted his back for comfort, the boy that patted him also had brown skin, his hair was short and bck and his eyes glowed a bright yellow and his irises were vertical, like a cats.

"Shadi, it'll be okay." The boy with cat like eyes reassured the boy next to him.

"Your mom said she can fix these kinds of damages to your broom, just be gd that you've managed to reach Besant so quickly today." He pointed out. Shadi Wasem, the angry boy with the yellow broom looked over towards the other boy, Wesley Mcneil and sighed.

"Fuck this Wesley, just, with everything that's going on, this is the st fucking thing that I needed." Shadi looked down at the broom, and the slight dents on the wood.

"Grandfather gave this to me, he---Damn it." Shadi sniffled, a sad tone growing in his voice as he continued looking over at the broom, until he and Wesley noticed that Celosia was looking at them, until she looked away upon being notice.

"What, want to take a picture bitch?" Shadi let out a bitter ugh, he felt as though he wanted to hurl insult at the first person that he see's besides Wesley.

"Hey don't ssh my wrists with your insults." Celosia countered, she wanted to call Shadi a prick but stopped herself, she heard his pain and she can tell that he was going through some stuff right now, something that she could rete too.

Shadi, ughed a little at Celosia's counter. "Heh, that's a new one." He tried to sound sarcastic, but he seemed to geuninely like what Celosia had said.

"You into self harm or something?" He asked in a gloomy way, Celosia approached the boys.

"S-Shadi!" Wesley hastily scolded his close friend.

  "It's fine." Celosia assured Wesley.

"I mean, I did do something like that in the past." She revealed, Shadi realised he hit a nerve, yet, rather then make it worse, he just grumbled a little.

  "Sorry." He apologised.

  "Look." Celosia changed the subject.

"You're clearly going through some shit, so, I won't waste any time. I'm looking for two things, since I'm new here." Celosia said.

"Sure, we can help." Wesley beamed, wishing to help the new student.

"I'm looking for the Teacher's Office, as well as another student that I met before this break ended." Celosia expined.

"Do you two know Haruo Machida, and maybe some members of his family?" As Celosia asked this question, she noticed something in regards to Wesley, the smile from his face was soon drained.

  "H-Haruo?" Wesley stuttered.

"You've met Haruo and his family?" Wesley fretted, which caused Celosia to look at him with suspicion.

"Yeeah? And I guess he has a reputation in this school, a fearful one?" She would ask the two, Shadi let out a ugh, covering his broomstick with a cloak.

"Worse then that." Shadi stated, his focus on hiding the broom, he no longer looked at Celosia.

"He's a piece of shit that get's easily pissed off, and beats up anyone he see's. Most of his family are like that actually, deranged bastards more like." Shadi fumed, Celosia became surprised to know about this, considering how, calm and polite Haruo and his family were at the convenience store, but, they were outcasts here and Haruo himself seemed to have a violent reputation at the school.

"Uh, what?" Celosia stuttered, perplexed by Shadi's answer.

"You should stay away from them If I were you, unless." Shadi paused.

"You want to make a "request" at their club." Shadi said, he finished wrapping up his broom, but he was still facing away from Celosia.

"They have a club?" Celosia questioned, but Wesley, concerned for Celosia's safety should she run into Haruo and his family quicky interrupted Shadi before he said anything else.

"L-Look, just don't stare at Haruo the wrong way and you should be fine." Wesley warned, his voice anxious about what could happen to Celosia. In fact, from the way certain students around them were looking at the three, they too looked fearful when Haruo's name was brought up.

"The teacher's office, is just at the otherside of this hall, it should be quiet during this time, since everyone's focused on going to their lockers, or css since their starting soon." Wesley pointed down to the end of the hall.

"And of course, if your an idiot that wishes to die so easily, their club is called the Apple Pickers Club." Shadi knew from Celosia's curiousity that she was going to want to know more about Haruo and the club he and his family ran, after all, she already met some of them before.

She might as well find out the hard way, Shadi thought.

"Shadi!" Wesley chastised Shadi again, the two boys soon began to walk away to their own lockers, bickering about Shadi putting Celosia in danger, while Celosia herself, watched them go into the crowd.

"Thanks." Celosia was confused by the way the two boys were talking about Haruo, he sounded like a completely different person then the two times that she met him, but, those were just two short encounters, so, she really didn't know him that well.

She wanted to see what Haruo and his family were really like, even if it makes her an idiot like what Shadi said, but then again, it wouldn't be the first "idiotic" choice that she had made in her life.

At lunch, she was going to check out this "Apple Pickers Club" that they run. From the way that they were describing it, it sounded like a club nobody should join if they value their lives, yet the name of the club didn't fit the way Shadi and Wesley described it.

In the crowd of students, Maria would watch Celosia in silence and with a grin, before wandering off towards the Teachers Office.

Haruo, yawned as he got to his locker, having just finished attending a morning meeting at the boxing club, they were pnning to do some warm up practice matches to get started for the rest of the semester, and in case anyone's skills had faltered during the break, Haruo looked down at his phone as he opened his locket. Vio still hasn't replied to him yet, much to his worry and discomfort.

"Not unlike you to be tired Haruo." Masumi would approach Haruo with a smirk, who quickly got annoyed by his probing.

"Give me a break Masu, we're all just getting used to school again." Haruo chastised, he was not going to be bombarded this morning by Masumi's multiple questions, he had just spent the morning at home trying to avoid him for that.

"You're often the first one prepared for when we go back to school, a school." Masumi pointed out, Haruo didn't want to deal with this right now, as he just wanted css to start already.

"Alright, what do you want Masumi?" Haruo knew that Masumi often comes up to him during the school day to either give him a message to head over to their club or to ask him for help with school work.

"I wanted to ask if you have the recent algebra volume, as well as the volume of ghost studies, those are my first two csses." Masumi would request, his smile fading.

"And why didn't you buy them?" Haruo retorted, sounding annoyed that Masumi had wanted his copies as he remained focused on getting his own books from his locket.

"You know why." Masumi grumbled, this reminded Haruo of, their fiancial situation. As Haruo prepared to meet Masumi's request by giving him the two books, a voice interrupted them.

"Ah Haruo, there you are." It was Vio, who smiled at the two as she adjusted her crystal neckce, Masumi turned to Vio and sighed.

"Oh god." He said under his breath, Haruo was a bit more apperciative at his girlfriend's arrival, but he didn't smile.

"Vio." Haruo gave Masumi his books before he smmed the locker door shut and approached Vio.

"I was looking for you, I, uh, wanted to talk." Haruo requested to Vio, who paused when Haruo approached.

"I suppose enough time has passed for me to talk to you again." Vio sounded bored in her tone of voice as she was reminded by the fight her and Haruo had and yet she sounded as though she wasn't taking Haruo's anxiety seriously.

"It's just, when we talked---It's fine." Vio would interrupt Haruo before he could finish.

"R-Really?" Haruo looked relieved by that, it sounded as though Vio was in a better mood then she was the st time that they talked.

"We can talk this out in a private manner." Vio offered, as she looked around, she no longer wore her shades from earlier, allowing her real eye colours to be seen, they were pink.

Besides her, Haruo and Masumi, there was only three girls talking at the end of the hall, Vio's cssmates, Harlee Strand, June Rider and Kameyo Furuyama, they didn't pay Vio any mind, much to her relief.

  "Now." She added.

"Now? Can't it wait during free period? Css is going to start soon, I don't want to skip it." Haruo sounded uncomfortable.

"It's okay." Vio turned and smiled back at him.

"You can make up an excuse for Miss Rao if you are te, I'm more important." Vio would tug on Haruo's arm. She seemed invested with wanting to talk to him now, Haruo was unsure, but upon seeing the pleading look on Vio's face, he knew he couldn't turn that down.

He hated it when he tried anyway. "Wait, Haruo." Masumi however objected to Haruo walking off with Vio.

He reached out, but Haruo moved away before Masumi could touch him. "You have a perfect css attendance, you can't be te." Masumi objected.

"Fuck sake, you were the first one out the door this morning like always, can't talking to Vio wait---Masu!" But before Masumi could finish, Haruo loudly snapped at him and turned back towards him, as Vio watched in silence.

"I need to have this talk with Vio." Haruo growled.

"Stop bothering me and just go to css already, I can't afford to skip this." Haruo argued, he then turned towards Vio.

"Let's go." He said with an emotionless expression as Vio smiled and wrapped har arm around Haruo's, before the two walked off with Masumi watching in silence.

Watching the two with anger as they left.

"Fucking." Masumi's grip around the books Haruo had given him tightened in frustration. He hated this, he hated seeing them together, this was wrong he thought, all wrong.

With a frustrated sigh, Masumi turned and stormed off for css, feeling a mixture of frustration, and worthless about what had just happened.
