Chapter 20 – Lunch with Sota

Haruo was scared right now, his questions he wanted to ask Celosia being put at the wayside for now as he simply stood in front of the door to the cafeteria.

Knowing, she would be in there.

He was also worried about interacting with Celosia when he saw her in his various csses and it's clear it will continue for the rest of the school day, he just, didn't know what to say to her right now. He thought he wasn't going to see Celosia for a long time.

He needed to talk to her soon, to stop all of this awakardness, it was rude for him to just, ignore her like that, after the conversations that the two had, he probably made Celosia confused, as he thought about what she might be feeling right now with him ignoring her and grew sad about that.

Gripping his bzer, Haruo took a deep breath, but when he looked up again, his heart skipped a beat.

He thought he saw Vio just now, staring at him through one of the door windows, in dissaprovel. She was the only person in the cafeteria staring straight at the door, as if she knew Haruo was behind there, when he rubbed his eye however, Vio wasn't there.

Good. Maybe it was just his imagination.

Haruo turned and walked away, he decided not to go to the Cafeteria today, he can eat elsewhere instead.

"He's often quiet now." Sota said regarding Haruo, he and Celosia sat at a table at the back corner of the Cafeteria, the bricks, like the other walls in Besant, were dark, with candles attached to the walls. Celosia felt as though she wandered in some sort of medevil feasting hall instead of a school cafeteria, and yet, she felt more comfortable eating here then In the Cafeteria back in Gyges.

"Really?" Celosia responded as she ate her lunch, she sat at the otherside of the time from Sota.

"He didn't seem the shy type when I talked to him, he sounded loud instead." Celosia said in a sort of boastful way, as if liking the way Haruo talks.

"He's hot headed when he's not quiet, especially with the fights that he gets into." Sota joked with a grin, as he thought about the st school fight Haruo got into with a reptilian boy who was harrasing Hayate.

Haruo caved in three of the reptilian boy's fangs that day, but strangely, he didn't get into trouble for it, in fact, the vice principal let him off with a hook, it wouldn't be the first time Seiji had done this either.

Haruo however punished himself when he got home by holding the hardest thing for him to lift for two hours, which was the side of the house, with the weight slowly crushing him until he dropped it.

He thought this was a suitable punishment for him, much to the concern of everyone else in the family, but Haruo insisted he went through with it.

"But, when he's angry, it's because he's concerned about others, I don't often see that from him these days." Sota said, his face changing to a saddened expression.

"We've, been through, some tough shit these st few months and it hit him hard." Sota revealed.

"I see." Celosia could understand when some months were hard, she felt sympathy for Haruo.

"So, what about you?" Celosia would ask next, Sota looked a little shy by this question.

"Me?" Sota said with a soft smile.

"Yeah, what are you into Sota?" Celosia queried in interest.

"Or someone." She joshed, Sota blushed a little at Celosia's joke.

"Uh, I'm not into anyone right now." He beamed.

"But, if you want to know the kind of hobby that I'm into then it's cooking." He answered, gushing a little as his smile remained.

"I like coo-coking." Sota stuttered, followed by a cough.

"Sorry if I hit a nerve." Celosia noticed Sota growing a bit flustered.

  "N-No, it's okay, it's just." Sota paused.

"I never really talked about this that much with someone before." He said after his pause.

"Yeah, It's hard to talk to people outside of the ones that you know." Celosia understood how Sota was feeling, she wanted to ask Sota why he and his family push people away, but, she could understand why now, given her own circumstances.

"I, often let people come up to me first before they talk to me." Celosia said.

"Like me?" Sota pointed out, Celosia smirked and nodded.

"Yeah, it's more easier then going up to them and trying to make conversation." Celosia then realised something about Sota.

"So, Is cooking all that your good at?" Celosia asked, teasing Sota a little.

"I'm also good when it comes to cross stitching." Sota added his list of interests to Celosia, who continued looking interested.

  "Stitched any quilts?" Celosia asked.

"Or people." She joked which caused Sota to ugh.

"Not... Yet." He answered with dark humour, which Celosia liked.

"I mean, fabrics more easier to stitch then flesh." He said, causing Celosia to ugh again.

"You seem to like dark humour huh?" Sota said with a smirk.

"I mean, you're not the only one at least." He added, followed by a short ugh.

"Of course." Celosia stopped ughing, and as she took a deep breath, her smile dropped a little.

"Not a lot of people feel the same way though." She admitted.

  "Yeah." Sota would sadly agree.

"I know that feeling when you try and say something funny and you end up making things awakard by accident." He said.

"But it's fine, as long as you make it up by changing the topic." Just as Sota finished his sentence, he saw someone approach and looked back down at his food. Celosia noticed that Sota had suddenly gone quiet, but before she could ask why his attitude suddenly changed, the figure behind her spoke.

"Celosia." The figure was Vio, who approached the table with a smile, her crystal neckce moving slightly around her neck.

"Oh, hey Vio." Celosia turned towards Vio upon hearing her voice.

"It's nice to see you now that the crowd that surrounded you that morning is gone." Celosia also noticed that Vio's eyes were now on full dispy, showing off the pink colour.

"And you're not wearing those blue shades either." Celosia pointed out.

"Yeah, crowds like that tend to get annoying." Vio mented.

"But I find a way to deal with them, it's a hindrence, but one I've always dealt with." Vio said, venting a little regarding people surrounding her.

"Doesn't that get, concerning?" Celosia asked.

"Like, what if some creep tries to do something, weird to you?" Celosia asked, Like groping or some other form of sexuel assault, she thought, but she didn't want to scare her new friend.

"That is something that I think about sometimes when a crowd gathers around me." Vio said, still, she remained smiling.

"But it became less and less of a thought, seeing as though that hasn't happened yet, but thank you for your concern." Vio said.

"But enough about me, how are you doing on your first day here?" Vio would ask to Celosia.

"It's fine actually, I still haven't found the person that I've been looking for though." Celosia paused.

"Well, I've seen him in css but we haven't talked today." Celosia said.

"Vio." Sota would suddenly speak up.

"If you're looking for Haruo then he's not here and I haven't seen him all day, Celosia here hasn't been near him either." He interjected as Vio and Celosia turned over towards Sota.

Vio's smile dropped and she looked bored, as if she had done what she was supposed to do at the table and now she no longer wanted to be near it.

"Oh, I see." Vio sounded, disappointed, but when she looked back to Celosia, she smiled, if only a little then when she did before.

"In that case, I have to get my lunch before afternoon csses start, enjoy the rest of your day Celosia." Vio would turn and leave before Celosia could say anything else, as she watched her go over to get her food.

Celosia soon turned back towards Sota, who looked back down at his food. "Sorry about that, I know you were talking to Vio, but I wanted her gone." Sota fumed a little, his happy demeanour now gone.

"Really? You two sound like you have some bad blood going on." Celosia was surprised, seeing as how Vio was nice.

But then again, she only knew her for a few hours.

"We do, we don't like her, the only reason we associate with her is because Haruo is dating her." Sota revealed.

"And even then, when she's alone with us we don't want anything to do with her." Sota said, shaking his head. Huh, Vio was Haruo's girlfriend, she must be looking for him too, but Sota didn't seem to want Vio finding him.

Like it was for Haruo's own safety.

"Just, if you notice anything weird about Vio the next time you see her Celosia, then avoid her at all costs." Sota said, sounding like he was warning Celosia of danger, which made her uncomfortable as she looked back to Vio, who was now talking to a few students.

"She might seem nice like just now." Sota said.

"But people like her tend to use niceness as a facade, I know she is." Sota would seem certain about his accusation regarding Vio.

Celosia noticed the simmer in Sota's voice of the bad blood he, and seemingly the rest of the family have against Vio.

Celosia remained quiet as she continued eating lunch with Sota, and thought about the earlier conversation that she had that morning with Vio.
