It took a while to convince Nix to at least wait until she was an adult before pnning to destroy a country. I had a feeling that this wouldn't be the st time we would have this conversation, however.

  "Anyways, do you have any interesting stories to tell? Considering the fact that you are the Camity's daughter, I have a feeling you have plenty." (Dragonfly)

  "Oh, I got tons! Tho I was adopted by mom, I'm not technically her biological child. Not that either of us care." (Nix)

  That wasn't exactly that big of a surprise considering the fact that the two of them didn't really look all that simir. Still, I was quite curious as to how someone like Camity could end up taking care of a child. She hadn't exactly struck me as being responsible.

  "How did that happen exactly?" (Dragonfly)

  "Oh, I don't remember the details. I was really small at the time. I can tell you what mom said about it, tho." (Nix)

  Nodding to show my agreement, I sat down using one of the broken dummies as a seat. Nix did the same before starting to speak.

  "So, from what I know, mom was taking a walk around the forest one day when she encountered a bunch of weird merchants. Apparently they were svers that were taking prisoners from the war back to the capital or something." (Nix)

  The fact that the Empire captured other races to ensve them during their raids on the frontlines wasn't exactly a secret. Still, the thought of people losing their freedom was revolting to me. My experience with simir stuff wasn't too positive either...

  "She hasn't told me exactly what she did to the bad guys, tho. I think she trapped their minds in an illusion or something? Anyways, the point is that she got rid of all of them because they were evil! And then she freed everyone!

  There was a baby that was alone and didn't have any family, so she decided to adopt it. And the baby in question was me!" (Nix)

  For some reason, I was starting to really feel like overthrowing a certain emperor. I mean, they had tried to do bad stuff to my friend! I couldn't let that go.

  I was a bit surprised that I cared so much about Nix already, but it was probably normal. She was pretty much the only person I felt like I could fully trust. Sure, Camity was also trustworthy, but she was a bit too strange to really understand. Nix was... straightforward, to say the least.

  "So, does Camity always get rid of svers that pass near here?" (Dragonfly)

  "Yeah, mom does do that. They hired rge escorts to protect themselves for a while too. That stopped when they realised that she's too awesome to be stopped by regur adventurers and mercenaries! They just don't come here now." (Nix)

  I was starting to think that the Witch of Camity's title was a bit more fitting than she would admit. Not that it was a bad thing, of course.

  "I wonder where Camity went. It's been a good while since she left." (Dragonfly)

  "I don't know either. It was probably something important." (Nix)

  At that moment, something entered the room by crashing through a wall. I was expecting it to be Camity, but it wasn't. In fact, it was not even close to looking like her.

  The thing that got in the room looked like some sort of giant bug. It's body was covered in a thick bck exoskeleton and it had six long legs. It also had six bck eyes on it's head as well as a pair of massive mandibules. However, it just felt wrong. That thing was radiating malice stronger than anything I had ever felt.

  I quickly grabbed my sword and took a defensive stance.

  "Nix, do you know what that thing is?" (Dragonfly)

  Unfortunately, Nix seemed to be too scared to even move. I quickly pced myself between the thing and her, but I wasn't confident in winning. I just knew that that thing was not a normal monster.

  It was about to attack me when it suddenly stopped moving. It slowly got pulled into a bck sphere that had appeared above it. As it approached the sphere, it got shredded to pieces by it's pull before being swallowed up and disappearing completely. The strange bck sphere then dematerialised, leaving nothing behind.

  "Shhh, it's alright. I'm here now. I destroyed all of the annoying bugs." (Camity)

  I turned around to see Camity hugging a scared Nix. She seemed to actually be serious for once.

  "What was that?" (Dragonfly)

  "A bck hole spell. It's high level gravity magic. As for that monster, it was from the void swarm. It shouldn't be showing up here again, so there's no need to worry." (Camity)

  Yeah, that did seem like something to be concerned about.

  "They are basically just a bunch of monsters that live beyond the edge of the world and try to eat literally everything. They are extremely spread out, so they barely ever find anything. I'm surprised that some ended up here, actually." (Camity)

  Nix seemed to have calmed down a bit, at least. The pure malice from that void-bug-thing had scared her quite a bit. I was probably only fine thanks to my mental fortitude boosting skill.

  "That was so cool! A bit scary, but fun!" (Nix)

  Yep, she was absolutely back to normal...
