I trudged through the snow for quite a while before the blizzard cleared up. I was going far slower than what I would have liked since the snow reached my waist. However, when the snowfall stopped limiting the visibility, I noticed that I was quite far from the cliff. The winds must have pushed me away from it during my "flight".
Well, no matter how it happened, I was now a good distance away from the knights.
Unfortunately, I was still right out in the open. If anyone realised that I had ran off, they would be able to find me. Thankfully, the knights had only checked up on me to give me food so far. With a bit of luck, they wouldn't realise that I had slipped away for a few more hours. Still, I had to find cover of some kind.
There seemed to be a pine forest not too far away, so I decided to head towards it. Hiding between the trees would certainly beat being out in the open. Plus, I would need to find some sort of food eventually. There was bound to be more food in a forest than in an open field full of nothing but snow, right?
Unfortunately, while the forest wasn't too far, I was also going at a painfully slow pace due to the snow. If only I had a way to make myself lighter to not sink in the snow...
I looked at my wings again. Sure, I wasn't quite able to fly with them, but they could still lift a part of my weight. I needed to learn to use them anyways, so there was really no reason not to do it. It's not like this could go wrong.
Right?
I began fpping my wings to reduce the pressure my feet were putting on the snow and began to run without sinking at all. Surprisingly enough, it was working great. I lost my bance and fell face first into the snow shortly after, but that's not important.
It took a bit, but I eventually mastered the art of running on snow. I gave the ground a couple more hugs before that, however.
Thanks to this new travel method, I reached the forest's edge within an hour. Once I got there, I tried to figure out what the next step was. A couple things are required to survive. I needed food and water. Most people would also need a way to stay warm, but dragon blood solved that problem.
Water wasn't too much of an issue either. I had fire magic affinity, so I could just melt some snow and be fine. Food, however, was a different story.
'Seriously, how is anyone supposed to find food in the middle of a snow-covered forest? I could try hunting, but I don't know if the monsters around here are strong or not. I'm still level 1, after all. Well, hunting monsters is something I should do anyways. I absolutely need to get my level up to something passable before it becomes an issue.'
And so, I went on a search for a low level monster to hunt. Making use of my wings, I ran on top of the snow to find one.
After about an hour, the sun was setting and I still hadn't found any food. I was just about to give up when I heard something walk in the snow.
It appeared to be some sort of rge rat-like creature. It's eyes were a deep, bloody red and it's fur was pure white. I assumed that it was some sort of monster that only came out at night since I hadn't seen any earlier. Fortunately, I finally had food. Unfortunately, the beast seemed to think that I was the food. It was quite agressive for something that didn't even reach my knees.
To it's credit, it did run at me faster than what I had predicted. Surprised, I kicked it out of reflex. The monster went flying into a nearby tree, hitting it quite hard. Seems like my strength was higher than expected...
The rat thing still somehow got up and tried to run away. I, however, was not about to let my food escape. I ran after it and gave it another kick. It didn't survive that one.
[User has levelled up to level 2.]
I got distracted upon seeing that notification and decided to check my status.

So, my hp and mp were both over 100 at level 2. That seemed a bit high, but I assumed that it was normal enough.
"Anyways, time to figure out how to cook monsters!" (Dragonfly)
